Alternative Way to Copy GTAV Game Files?

Featured Replies

Hi, I know of the classic way of backing up your files, (Coping and pasting your main directory etc) But My PC is upstairs, connected by an ethernet cord, which is all connected to a WiFi router, then to my main router, so I get poor download speeds. (As I am downloading more mods, It becomes longer to backup everytime, as of a backup file I re did tonight, it will take about 1HR-1HR20M (185GB) - pretty sure it should only take on average like half an hour.

1. Can I use the in-app steam version to backup files? Is it safe? Does it also copy my mods?

2. Can you copy game files to google drive, and is it quicker?

3. Maybe another method you know of.

Much Appreciated,

Copying and pasting the contents of a folder on your - let's say - D:\ Drive to your C:\ Drive has nothing to do with internet speeds. It solely depends on what kind of HDD/SSD your PC has.
Backing up the files to a cloud such as Google Drive will be impacted by your internet speed as you actually upload and download files to the cloud service.

1. No idea what you are talking about really. The easiest solution is creating a backup folder on your disk and copying all GTA folder contents.

2. Since you said your download speeds are meh, no.

3. Copy-Pasting is the best way.

No.

The only method that confirm works is to make a backup of a fresh directory with the current working version. See below.

1. Select the Grand Theft Auto V folder (GTAV for EPIC) and right click. Then select copy and paste it into the same location as your current directory.
2. At this point, the copy should be called Grand Theft Auto V - copy.
3. After the GTA V update, you should update the active version. Once the update is complete, rename the active version to Grand Theft Auto V - Update.
4. Then change the Grand Theft Auto V - copy to Grand Theft Auto V and you should be able to continue using the previous version. Just make sure to NOT install the latest LSPDFR/RPH. You can then switch to the current version once the updates come out for all the respective mods/plugins you use.
