Script to force directions of driver?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I browsed trough many scripts and the forum and hopefully found the correct section for my question:

I'm searching for a script to give specific orders to a driver where to go next. Most scripts I found only stop the traffic with cones (StopThePed) or barriers (Traffic Police). I also found Scene Manager which includes paths to send the traffic, but just in general for all of them and traffic jams still occur. I'd like to go to a specific car and order a new direction (u-turn, this way, that way – or just stop) and maybe even force them to drive there (for some reasons sometimes they just stop in the middle of the road and don't go on, even when there's no block or else present).

Does anyone know a script which includes what I'm looking for?

And i believe it is impossible to avoid.
I have made a 'direction-script' and it 'works' in as much that i can force one car to drive in a specific direction, but while he is driving, 3 or 5 new cars piles up, they then need to be addressed one after one, and at the same time the game-engine contradicts the script-cmd over and over, so you cant let 'go' of the first car, because it will change back to the orr. path.
Each car need to be forced to the selected position, and you cant keep up with cmds in repect to new cars in the pile -> Jam
You are most welcome to the script if you code or if you want a dll with the feature let me know

SceneManager is what you are looking for.

Thanks. I've fiddled around with it and if there's no other working script, I'll have to leave it with that. Unfortunately it isn't supported any more and I'm afraid, it's just a matter of time till it doesn't work anymore. Drivers are behaving weird already from time to time.

Thanks for your offer but I don't know how to code at all and if the game overwrites the directions, it must be frustrating in another way. 😐

That why i offer you a dll, but you would have to trust it/me
The method adds stress to a scene, and that may in some ways realistic, but successfully solving a pileup on a freeway is very rare. In the city with perhaps < 5 cars involved, it is doable -sometimes.
I will put a video later so you can see the capability of the script
(It is not included in the video in my signature, because it is newer : )

Yes i will make you a plugin if you like.
What are your ideas?

Oh, that would be great, thank you very much!

Propably you're familiar with "Stop The Ped". It contains a function to stop a car on the street. The cop uses a flashlight with a colored dome ("OnFootTrafficUseWandKey"), when he stops it.

It would be nice, if the cop in your script would wave it when giving orders.

After understanding how the orders are given, I'll provide you with further feedback.

Spoiler

Just an example of a situation, I'd have liked to try it:

I had traffic piling up on the Ocean Highway Bridge south of Paleto Bay because I blocked the road on both sides of a crime scene in the middle of the bridge. I used Scene Manager and cones from different scripts, but it was an absolute nightmare on both sides. Especially Pounders were unable to make a u-turn in one go and clogged everything up.

In the end I snapped and let one car explode via console. The whole bridge went up in flames step by step. It was kind of relieving and satisfying. 😂

No i do not have installed any plugins : )
I decided to make my own features for everything i miss, so o dont know how any other plugins works.
Stopping a car should be doable, but i have not worked with changed animations. That is still unknown territory
I will take a look at car-stopping. Afair there is no direct methods, so it would be something with negating the current speed, witch would re4sult in no speed. The issue would be how the hidden game-engine command the cars to drive fwd again, that is a problem in several other situations.
If i can figure something out, i will let you know
: )

Just to give you a short notice:

In the last days work and family didn't leave me time to play. ATM I have to figure out if it's safe to play while the current exploit isn't patched.

Thank you for the new link, @GTAbear

@GTAbear ... finally! I tested your script on several junctions. My findings were similar to yours: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The more cars the worse it gets. For example some cars/drivers "refuse" to follow to the designated target even though I pressed Num9 multiple times or held it. The front wheels are moving left to right and vice versa but they still don't accelerate.

I tried to combine it with Scene Manager to give general directions and move those cars, which don't comply, to the right direction using your script. But some of them still gave me a hard time. I'm afraid the AI is more "A" than "I" and forces me to give up some immersion. I'll have to stick with deleting some traffic via console or scripts (e.g. Scene Manager or Clean Up The Mess). If your want to keep working on your script, I'll keep testing and provide you with feedback but if your don't I'm totally fine with it.

In any case: Thanks a lot for your effort! 🙂👍

Thank you for your detailed feedback! Very appreciated!
I think a general method to simply force an addressed entity to complete stop receiving base-game control-input, and forcefully only reacting to input from plugin-cmds, is needed.
A cmd like that could solve several glitches in base-game
* Ignoring arrest

* Removing interaction blocking

and indeed

* override default paths for vehicles

I am experimenting with a state-machine, where entities are being commanded to do the same thing inside while-loops. It kind of 'works'.
I can lift a Ped from the ground and move it to a specified position, but it is motion-frozen!
It seams that a forced behaviour freezes the entity, and it looks very unnatural.
If i manage to improve the script i will ping you.
