In-Car Computer Features

Featured Replies

Hi not sure if its possible, But it would be nice if there could be more features within the In-Car Computer.

Features.

1 - ALPR

2- Police Helper Features.

3 - Multiplayer features, Emergency buttons to alert other officers of your situations. (These would show up on the screen for other people)

4 - Report, Write up a report which everyone on LCPDFR can read. (Like the POLICE COMPUTER SYSTEM website.)

Just thinking instead of having all these things seperate if they can all be 1 though the in-car computer.

Automatic license plate reader, but people have already come to the conclusion thats not possible.

I wonder.. right now the game generates detail for each ped upon request. If you make the LPR to work like dashcam, where you point to a given car and hit "process", you could force it to essentially return information for that vehicle off a database (like policehelper does for peds). it won't be automatic as you drive (that will probably crash you asap anyway) and it won't read the actual plates since there are no plates in the game, but it's close enough.

license plate reader is illegal anyways my department used it once and didnt use it again because well...they are illegal

I would love to know what department deemed scanning registration info illegal??????

ALPR/ANPR systems aren't Federally illegal in the United States, nor at the State or local level for that fact... unless your State has passed legislation on banning these systems for one reason or another. One reason, the most likely reason, would be to avoid potentially costly civil litigation cases dealing with privacy rights.

By the way, which department do you work for if you don't mind me asking?

sgtdonuts is right. It is possible. I don't know what data that system return but if it's a lot of them it should be on demand no to kill the game, but if it's only license plate and status it might be automatic. Main problem is data would not match these from LCPD:FR police computer like when you check ped on foot with policehelper. With peds on foot it's not a big problem, but when you stop someone it is because you use the lcpd:fr computer.

What's your badge/name and dept so i can call your captain and have you fired for gross negligence of duty?

They are legal. The supporting arguments with which courts agree SO FAR (later might change) are

1. plates are public info. IE they are always visible. There is no need to go through any extra steps that would be covered under search and seizure (4th am)

2. there is no actual difference in legal terms between the computer requesting the information vs the cop doing it, since the lpr is logged in as said officer.

3. the process is transparent and does not constitute undue grief upon the public or department/cop.

4. it is NOT a criminal process but a statutory compliance check. It falls under the whole driving is a priviledge nomenclature

Registration Valid Y/N

Insurance Valid/present Y/N

State of registration NY/LC or some others

In real life you get the above +

- actual status of registration (current up to xyz, revoked, expired, none at all, along with dates of these events if applicable)

- name of registered owner/s

- address on said registration

- expiration date

- car vin/make/model/color etc

Additionally sometimes it's separate query depending on system

- reported stolen.

- lien information. that's usually through the vin check and not plate. but can be accessed if needed. again it really varies by location and how the cad on your end and on the dispatch side are tied in with other state databases

I don't think anything beyond the first 3 would make sense in game nor would it be realistic. You can create all fake info but if your car and owner don't match across all the addons it detracts from the realism imo.

Insurance and registration lapses are pretty rare. About 1% of all vehicles, typically even less depending on where you are.

Last time i coded a database was in 1997. I don't think the same languages still exist today. I've been out of the loop for decades
