Runnin Plates?

I was just thinking this morning.  You know how when you stop a vehicle, you can run the driver's license?  Well what if you could also run their plates for the condition of the vehicle.  Now I know it sounds crazy now, but think of the possibilites.  You can see if the car has been stolen, used to commit a crime and see if the driver is really the owner.  I also realize that this could take time to make, but it would be worth the wait.

Have you tried this?

Correct, but random peds also dont have names....ehh ehhh?

Sigh, I'm tired of explaining this.

In order to have the full experience of running plates, you'd need to import EVERY model from IV into an editing program and re-map the license plate, you'd then need to texture each plate and then set up a system that has these plates in the database.

Too much effort.

Processor: Intel i5-6600 @ 3.30GHz

GPU: MSI ARMOR GeForce GTX 1080 OC

I see where your coming from, and i was misunderstanding what alexb was saying, what i was thinking was if you pulled someone over it just said on the top left a plate number and you could run that to see if it was stolen or not, not just random running of plates driving by.

Well, an easy thing would be to ignore the ingame plate of LIBERTY CITY and use like a fake VIN number. That way people wont complain saying it doesnt match the car.

So you can recieve both a DL and a VIN number to run?

Either way, a database of VIN's would have to be compiled and how often do VIN's get run realistically? I like the idea of being able to run plates better than VINs but like Harper and Jay have said its just to much effort for a system similar to what we already have(ID checks) and think about it, in order to run a plate you would need to open the computer which disables your ability to drive so the car being ran will be gone by the time you exit out. I understand you could be running plates on a traffic stop but in my opinion the whole fun of running plates would be doing it on the run while driving. Plus if your running it on a traffic stop, its just like running an ID

ALPRS runs all the time on the newer cop cars... Or, just hit a key, and a pop up saying stolen, not stolen, not registered, things of that nature. It doesnt need a plate number. It may not be as realistic, but its probably an easier way to do it. Forget about a database, just make it random
