  • We certainly share the concerns mentioned by you and others. However, even if most people behaved "crazy" like you said, there could still be a lot of value in it when looking at tendencies. Is someon

  • The research stuff is super cool.  I don't really play LSPDFR anymore, but I will for this!

  • Yep, there are a couple of new functions. @LMS has listed them in this API topic: https://www.lcpdfr.com/forums/topic/113995-lspdfr-049-api-update/?tab=comments#comment-687445

can you make the name appear automatically for the warrant call out like how it does during a traffic stop? sometimes its hard to see the letters and also would be nice to have predetermined fine amounts like in 0.3 and lcpdfr, being controller friendly would be very nice

Thinking more about this, from a public relations standpoint, it is a beautiful idea.  Hell, it's something that even I would have to think about if someone reached out to Bejoljo's server. The problem is the way they're going about it.

.

Advice for the future if something like this ever comes back up: Realistically, they should have made the newest LSPDFR version temporarily restricted to only certain people - preferably legit players -  and those people's stats would then be used.  Controlled environments are best for things like this.

A control group is a good idea, but I think you still need a non-control group to compare it to.

A lot of crashes with the new LSPDFR update. Normally a baseline error according to Rage

Post your log in the support forums. Try going into the Plugins folder and renaming LSPDFR to _LSPDFR. If you dont get many crashes, the issue isnt LSPDFR but one of the plugins.

The only issue with this, and adding on to what Rich said, would be that the Control Group would have to be relatively large. If the data being collected for the Research Project was too small, it would be very difficult to draw any kind of Final Result from the Hypothesis of this project. I think a Control Group of at least 50 and at most 150 would be ideal to reflect variety in the way people respond to the scenario.

I don't typically put too much thought into these updates, but this one I couldn't help but think about exactly this. I would say a majority of players are probably the total crazy people, or ones that don't 100% follow the rules. The two universities better have a pretty good system to remove that bad data, or the entire study quite honestly is going to be a pile of garbage and a waste of time.

I agree with you on this. I had issues with survey also. Some of the answers to those questions were situational dependent and not a black and white text book issue. I work public safety and I am not sure this is a good way to gather research to dictate training for law enforcement. I would suggest maybe doing a lot of time riding with law enforcement in multiple settings and types of departments would be better. Participating in their shoot/no shoot training and so on. Even playing this game as real as possible has its flaws. Especially since each scenario is pre-programmed. The way people act in real life vs. programmed in a game are not alike. The variables in real life are never ending. Just my take on it.

Thats what I thought too. At the end of the day, this is just a mod for a video game with little to no repercussions. It doesn't exactly create the best scenario for a Research Project on how/why Law Enforcement deal with the situations the way they do.

Thanks for another update. I'm excited to see what the study is about and what their findings are when they can release that information to us. I hope it doesn't take our past characters into account though, because my character, Eden Peenus, with 1 arrest and 162 shots fired, is not indicative of my regular realistic playstyle. I promise.

If I remember correctly, the data is only collected from one of the base callouts, the Arrest Warrant. I could be wrong though.

Do the plugins still work with this version?

They should. I believe anything above 0.4.7 should be fine. 0.4.6 and anything under that is pushing it.

Eden Peenus

Imagine researchers discussing this out loud and using that name. 😂

"Damn...this Eden Peenus character is such an outlier...he shot the "suspect" and then tossed the warrant on his dead body." 😂

I like the idea behind it, I'm just concerned because I know there's a lot of casual LSPDFR players who do tend to fuck around and not take it seriously like a lot of us do.  I'm really hoping the end result is helpful.

The study is opt-in, for all data, I do believe. There might be some collected otherwise, I'm not sure - I didn't really read that much into it. I don't play all that often, but I sure spend a fair bit of time debugging so I opted in. That said, I don't think people who "fuck about" per se will have opted in. A lot of people don't even read these new version announcements, and are likely none the wiser. The research has hardly been promoted all that much, so yeah - I wouldn't worry. 🙂

The data will only be collected from the new Arrest Warrant callout and only after you have taken the survey and linked your account are you considered.

I thought such might’ve been the case. Thank you for confirming.
