In Maryland, you have to take a government class to graduate high school. I think that more states should have that requirement.

I think they should add it to regular curriculum such as math, English and history seeing as it is just as much a part of our daily lives and can effect us to the point of potentially electing people who could lead us to something like war or poverty.

The only thing about Ron paul is that he seemed a little weak on foreign policy. Im not all for wars and all but I dont see a point in trying to reason with those who clearly will never want to be our friends(*cough*iran*cough*)

I didnt know that adding 6 TRILLION dollars to the debt was a good thing, or raising the unemployment. Oh and causing millions of people to go on food stamps. Did you also know...he plans to cut ALL benefits to retired military? YAY NO MORE HEALTHCARE FOR MY FAMILY! Let me guess.. Bush's fault?

Really, really good things.

The American economy was already screwed up before obama took office, everyone wants to change thing's, and but pretty much spend their entire term of 4 years trying to change it, then election time comes and someone else fucks it up by trying to change it again, vicious cycle don't ya think?

Our economy wouldn't be fucked if those Talibobs didnt attack us.

Our economy wouldn't be fucked if those Talibobs didnt attack us.

Bush declared war after that, if the U.S government didn't put as much money into the country itself instead of every penny going to new military grade weapons and such, the U.S wouldn't be where it is.

Remember Irak Invasion? That enormoooous waste of money?

Also, I don't know why are you so annoyed with the health care system, it could save your life if you ever have something serious *it could happen to anyone, you never know*. About the unemployment rate, from what I've heard, Obama has improved it.

Btw, My congrats to Obama for winning;)

Hate to say it, if anything Obama is trying to improve thing's, but the U.S just keeps shooting itself in the foot, the U.S probably has some of the best weaponry and military grade vehicles, and i bet that $6 trillion debt is mostly because of the military, kind of surprised the U.S hasn't blown itself up yet or even had any countries try to invade the U.S to be honest, the United States government, just keeps sinking itself both feet in, they love to be in control and love to control everything, glad i was born Canadian to be honest, the Harper government is really no better, but at least i have freedom to do what i please.

This is true. I live in Maryland, I'm a high school junior. All 9th graders (at least in Harford County) are required to take Government.

AP Government/Politics is an available elective starting in 11th grade, which I take now.

i still think ron pual should of won

The Republican establishment wasn't taking any chances. Were it a Paul vs Obama election, it would have been a devastating defeat for Obama. People from all over the political spectrum identify with him.

What many see as "weak" on Ron Paul's foreign policy is the greatest strength of it. Independence from relying on other nations and international organizations is a great thing. Having buddies is all well and good, but you need to be able to fend for yourself.

That's politics. What one person thinks will work is exactly what the other thinks won't work. Both Bush and Obama have proven their fiscal irresponsibility.

A health care system where you have to wait forever to get important surgeries? Paying for other people's conditions that may or may not be their own fault? Government controlling my health-care decisions? No thanks.

This, scientific research into illnesses, cloning, bailouts, space research and exploration and paying middle eastern countries like Pakistan to be our friend and not lie to us which (*shocker*) doesn't work.

kind of surprised the U.S hasn't blown itself up yet or even had any countries try to invade the U.S to be honest

Blown itself up yet? =/ Regarding an invasion though, it probably won't happen. We're like Russia, we're a huge land mass with a strong military, cutting edge technology and also happen to have the most guns per human population on the planet. The worlds largest army is actually not even the U.S. army. It's America's hunters. An invasion of U.S. soil would be a blood bath for both sides, since it's not the 1600's anymore. Besides, nobody would really want any part of our country barring Alaska for its oil reserves. And anybody who wants that territory is going to have to start some trouble with Canada and the UK too. Lastly our nation is in some ways; an island. Meaning countries that aren't Russia, Canada or Mexico would have a difficult time with mass movement of troops, weaponry and supplies, especially if a single nation was trying to attack us by themselves. Moreover, I think despite any problems our country may have, we do a large amount of good for this world and to see us vanish as if we never existed would turn this planet into a very different place.

Same but ohio and floridia love obama

I live in Florida and I don't love him but I do prefer him over Romney because it was the republicans that put us in the mess we're in and Obama is just trying to fix it.

The US has the best weaponry, so you're surprised no one has tried to invade?

The US is *more* able to fend for itself than pretty much any other country in the world. A lot of the reason the defense budget is so big is that the US fends for both itself *and* a lot of other countries (for example, much of Japan's defense is provided by the USA).

This, scientific research into illnesses, cloning, bailouts, space research and exploration and paying middle eastern countries like Pakistan to be our friend and not lie to us which (*shocker*) doesn't work.

And social security and healthcare for senior citizens (the two biggest budget items by far).

Not only are there very few countries that could easily invade, but one of them (Canada) is a really strong ally, one (Mexico) has internal problems, and one (Russia) would have to go across *Siberia*, which is probably enough to discourage anyone.

nope not surprised no one has invaded, just surprised the U.S hasn't blown itself up yet with all the firepower the U.S has, who knows, there could be nuclear weapons sitting in some of the deepest darkest places in the U.S.

What benefit would any country capable of such an attack receive? China is making tons of money off of us. Russia has no incentive. What other country could even potentially mount such an attack? And how the hell would we have blown ourselves up? I don't like nuclear weapons, but it isn't like they aren't kept incredibly secure. No sensible country that posses nuclear weapons, even Pakistan, would not be dumb enough to use them anyway.

You're proving yourself to be quite ignorant about the United States, and the geopolitical arena as well.

Being ignorant about the U.S is one way to put it, i have my reasons, those being my trips to the U.S have proven to be terrible due to arrogant americans, that may not be all of them, but just my luck i found the ones who are and attitude is constant cause i'm canadian, so don't act like it's just me, i really don't see how the U.S is a free country, cause you can legally open carry in public? i didn't say anything about being attacked, i said the U.S keeps shooting itself in the foot, although having an opinion about the U.S is not ignorant, it's an opinion, it matters just as much as your's does.

i would like to go on with my list of reasons about why i am the way i am about the U.S, but this topic isn't about my feelings.

Sorry
