Mall Mass Shooting Discussion

Recommended Posts

The WISN live coverage of the mass shooting is reporting that two sources are reporting the shooter (45yr old Radcliff Haughton) found dead inside the spa. At the moment, no statement is available from the police confirming or denying this. It does look like they have found him though, as quite a few vehicles are moving out, so hopefully we'll see the end of this.

Update: WISN has confirmed that the suspect has been found dead.

It seems that the suspect opened fire at his (ex?)wife while he was at an appointment with his daughter. When he started to fire, she ran out yelling for help. Police confirm.

Update 2: Police confirm that no explosives are inside the suspects house.

[i understand the other thread was closed, but I figured that it would be alright to open another one to discuss this further, and give updates to other. Forum staff feel free to close this thread if you disagree.]

I was going to, however the other topic was mainly about listening in on the tragedy rather than discussing it. I suggest you change the topic to just "Mall Mass Shooting" and leave this topic for discussion, since the other one got out of hand and kinda was all over the place. The other topic is good for references now though, other than that, I say we move the discussion of this tragedy to this topic.

WOO-HOOO!! WISCONSIN!!!

All I heard of it was on TMJ4. After that I ceased to really pay attention to it. Shootings happen all the time up here, although, from what I hear he is still on the loose.

The only reason why it got alot of attention/attention of the press was due to the fact it was a mass shooting, and no, according to news references, his body was found in the Spa location. At first they thought he was on loose but they didn't fully clear the Spa yet so they didn't know if he was in there still or not (The spa was 2 stories so I'm sure it was a nightmare to clear), here's the news feed: http://livewire.wisn.com/Event/Breaking_News_Brookfield_Mall_Shooting#ixzz29xrgy658

And this is the reasons guns are illegal in the U.K.

U.K. isn't the only one. Countries like Singapore, Malaysia... mainly Asian countries have a tough stance on guns being legal. But I do know that in the Philippines having guns are legal with a proper licence issued by the government.

But most Asian countries allow their police force to carry weapons (unlike in the U.K.) but im not sure what ones.

Might want to read up on your laws than. My friend is from the UK he is ex military and he has about 8 guns in his house. All legal to. Also he was telling me you can join a gun club an go though all the paper work and be able to own a gun. What makes you think if some paper says yu can't own a gun do you think everyone will live by that? Ever heard of the term if we outlaw guns only crimnials will have guns. In the USA 99% of guns use in crime are bought off the black market. So it dosnt matter if guns are illegal people will still have them.....

If you read the post above then you might have realised you can buy them with a liscense...what I meant was you cant walk about the street with one and there isnt gun shops everywhere.

But gun crimes in the U.S are something like 25,000 were as in the U.K. its only just over 40. (not entirely sure about those figures :S)

And a majority of those crimes come from major cities. The funny thing about that is some of the most violent cities have strict gun laws, like NYC, Chicago, Washington DC and Los Angeles. Meanwhile, in suburbs in the midwest when there are several gun owners on every block, crime rate is extremely low. In the end, it comes down to the fact that the second amendment was put there by our founding fathers because they recognized that all governments become out of control and people need a way to take it back when their vote doesn't count anymore. The price of liberty can be measured by the amount of blood spilled, in peace and war time.

My point was that in areas where more people legally own guns, less crime happens compared to cities with gang problems and strict gun laws.

Ahh ok but since U.S citizens have the right to a gun how do gang members buy guns from the black market?...Do you need a licesense or something to purchase a gun in the U.S?

No license to buy as it should be. However, there is a 3 day background check on handguns, while long guns can be purchased on the same day. From the black market, guns are either stolen or purchased then illegally sold to criminals with felonies.

Thank you..now I know +1 rep :D

Its not as easy as people think it is to get guns (well some places it easy) I know a gun store by us doesn't sell to anyone who has been to court for like a law suit or anything. If you have a speeding ticket they won't sell to you. Basically the only way to get a gun from there is to have a 100% clean back ground.

Well I don't think you have to be a criminal who spends the day in the court for going throught a hard period and taking a gun and shot your boss, your wife or even the first three random person you find... that could happen even to the most ''Ned Flanders'ed'' guy of the world. The most unsuspected person can go mad and take one of his completely legaly owned guns and kill someone..

So I think, for logic, less guns = less risk of tragedies

But just wondering, why you americans are so obsessed with the guns and security?
