Better Siren Control

With ELS is there better siren control other than hitting "G"?

In other words, if I want the yelp, it seems to be dumb luck for me to get it. There doesn't seem to be a way to automatically toggle through the different siren modes like you can with the primary, secondary and warning light modes. Anyone have any advice for a more realistic experience.

Thanks for the advice, but maybe I didn't explain myself properly. Its not the "G" key itself as much as it is the fact that how it changes the siren appears to be random to me. I hit it once, the siren goes on, I hit it again it goes off. I hit it and hold it I get all kinds of random results. I should have noted that I have a modified siren file with wail, yelp phaser and airhorn sounds, but I con't figure out how to select which one I get. I guess I was looking for behavior more like a real siren where there is a rotor switch to select the different modes and the cars horn is tied to the siren which switches back and forth between modes when the siren is on or gives you the electronic airhorn when the siren is off. If this can't be done that is OK, just wondering if anyone had any tips or tricks.

Hence my point: Change the ELS siren key to something else. When you hit G, the wail from ELS goes on but immediately, the real GTA siren goes on (NOT THE WANTED EFFECT). If you hold G, then the ELS sirens will cycle like crazy making weird noises indeed, but the original siren will not be turned on.

When you have a different key, you hit it once for WAIL, then again for YELP and then again for HYPERYELP/PHASER. Another hit closes it. G is still the GTA key for the horn with the real siren (effect as drivers pull over as well).

Try setting this in your ELS.ini file:

ToggleSirens = 82	// G by default

82 means it will be the "R" key that will turn on various different settings, such as Wail, and Yelp. Refer to the codes at the bottom to pick the key that would work best.

Not sure if that helped, but feel free to ask more questions.

YES! That's it. That is exactly what I was looking for. I really like the way it works now. You are all the best thanks for your support.

The best horn/siren key is the middle mouse button. Trust me you will thank me later.

Nope, tried it, can't be more than annoying if you have a gaming mouse. My mouse has a device in it that make the keys analog, kind of like a console joystick. The best key really is if you can drive properly.

I agree, it's what i use.

Also, whoever down repped the post by Francis (quoted below) is a complete moron. In the post he stated a completely valid point so there was no reason to do that whatsoever.

P.S Francis i have +REP for you to get it back to 0.

Yep I use middle mouse too. That will turn siren on / off. I also have ELS mapped to another key which gives my the ability to cycle through the 3 modes.

(And I agree, down repping someone for stating their opinion is childish. There are other sites available that specialise in that.)
