First Person Siren/Light Indicator & Blip Siren Mod 0.15

(7 reviews)

3 Screenshots

This mod adds a emergency light indicator on your screen, useful for first person in the day time. It also adds a hotkey for blipping your siren (other than turning the lights on and off quickly).

The light indicator is for when it is daytime in first person mode and you aren't sure whether you have your lights on or not. Sure, you can go to third person but this adds some immersion.

It includes an INI file where you can change pretty much all settings.

Animation (off at first and then on)

kqxAIjo.gif

You can also now change this animation to be whatever text you like.

Requirements

RPH 0.22 or higher

Installation

Place the DLL & INI in Grand Theft Auto V\Plugins

Enabled plugin via startup.rphs or RPH console

Known bugs

I have 0 idea if the console controller settings work for blipping the siren, I still need to get my controller from my other place

What's New in Version 0.15

Released

  • Added requested INI setting for changing the display string (so you can make it show up as -|* or whatever you want now)

Doesn't seem to be working for me. I've installed, loaded up the game and then loaded the plugin through the console. Gone on duty with LCPDFR and then got into the police cruiser. Turning on the sirens does nothing, both in third person and first person view. Neither does pressing G.

Here's the error produced in the log:

What version of RPH are you running?

Tried the latest and the one before that.

I've only tested it on 0.22 and running on .23 or .24 might be the issue. I'll release a compatibility update tonight or tomorrow!

Just installed the latest version of the plugin, it now crashes the game as soon as it's loaded.

Got it, thanks.

The new version (0.11) never actually got uploaded because I wasn't paying attention :^)

I uploaded an actual new version (0.13) that fixes some issues with the plugin not loading, it may not fix them if you are running RPH 0.23 or 0.24.

Works now, and as advertised.  Thanks for fixing it, very useful when in 1st person.

Have you considered mapping the keys to the controller? I'd like to be able to use the down d-pad to blip siren or if it's possible to "blip the air horn"!

Sure, I don't have a controller so I didn't personally think about that. I'll add that for the next update, I'm on a roadtrip right now but hopefully I can push that out Monday/Tuesday.

What do you mean by blip the airhorn? Normally you can just press the horn button for the airhorn but that's only when the sirens off, are you looking to like hold a button to blast the airhorn while the sirens are audible?

I'm thinking like they did in GTA IV with ELS, you know you have to normally hold the horn down to sound the police air horn. I was thinking if you could map it to something so that when your siren is on, you can push a button to sound the air horn to get through intersections.

So yes, if it's possible to make the air horn sound while the lights and sirens are going, it would stop the siren and sound the horn until you released the key/button then the siren would continue as normal.

Not a problem, I'm in the same boat my friend. No rush, I know life can be busy. I just appreciate you working on it.

What would a good default controller buttons be?

A good start would be the down d-pad button to blip the siren.

I really like the idea behind this but honestly i know when my sirens or lights are on since im not in frist person as much, I really use this for the bust siren and i love the the option to either disable the indicator completely or if you would just make a separate mod for the burst.

I'll add an option!

For now, just set the text size to 1 and then make the position somewhere not noticeable.

Would be great if that was added to a vehicle equipment in the car interior. Something like a LED on/off on the scanner or something like that.

Usually in police car in france this is this way. You push a button and that turn on a LED on the button.

That would be difficult to do via scripting. It would be better to add it to the actual model, but this would need to be done to each individual model, so not really possible on a large scale.

It's okay. It's not that you're asking too much, just that you're asking the wrong person.

If you were to ask a model dev, someone who produces vehicle mods, they may add the feature in because it's not overly difficult to do. However, script mods couldn't achieve this as easily.
