Cop Holster 3.2.0.0

(97 reviews)

4 Screenshots

Cop Holster is an RPH plugin that adds some unique functionality to the police handgun holster. It removes the handgun from the holster if a pistol is a drawn. It also comes with intimidation mode -- a simple feature that allows you to put your hand on your holster. Cop Holster works with both the player and AI officers.

Here's a neat little GFY showing it in action:

Requirements
RAGEPluginHook 0.23 or higher.

Installation
Place CopHolster.dll and CopHolster.xml in your Plugins folder.
When ingame, open the RPH console (default F4) and type LoadPlugin CopHolster.dll.

Features

  • Dynamic holsters for both the player an AI officers.
  • Animations that automatically play when holstering and unholstering.
  • Intimidation mode, a feature that allows you to put your hand on your holster. Toggle with Right Shift Key (keyboard) or Left DPad (controller).
  • Highly configurable! Turn off animations, change keys, add new ped models for Cop Holster support, you name it.

Questions
Does this come with RDE support?
The RDE Cop Holster config file is in the RDE 3.1 download.

Does this come with EUP support?
Yes. Cop Holster comes with support for EUP 7.5.

How does Cop Holster work?
All ped models in GTA have what are called drawables. They are pieces of clothing or equipment that can vary between instances of that model. Many of the default cop models have two holster drawables. One is empty, and one has a pistol. Cop Holster simply changes between those two drawables depending on if you have your pistol drawn or not to give the illusion that you are taking the pistol out of the holster.

I'm a ped model developer and would like to make my model work with Cop Holster. How would I go about doing that?

See the readme in the download.

I notice when playing a Ranger, Intimidation works with the pistol + holster added as Gear on character select, but proper holstering and unholstering does not.  Is there a possibility of adding this functionality to armed park rangers?  Thanks.

Not as of yet since the park ranger does not have an empty holster model.

I've started using freemode peds with custom clothing mods when playing LSPDFR. I know the holster animation will only work on models with an actual holster, so will probably never work on mp or freemode characters, but I was wondering if there is a way the 'intimidation' feature can still be activated but on any model?

At the moment it won't with custom characters whilst LSPDFR is active, but is this something that might be possible with future updates that you can activate the animation regardless of character model? As you can see from my screen shot, the animation is still forced when conducting a standard LSPDFR stop, but if we can do this with your mod, it would be fantastic. Especially as it just add as little more immersion. I simply love the 'intimidation' feature and would love to use it on other models.

I didn't originally because the intimidation animation just looks really weird without the holster there. Also, I don't want to make it work on any character model because I can see people getting annoyed of Michael (for example) doing the holster animation whenever they press caps lock. But if you really want it to work on the free roam ped, I guess I can include it in the next update.

EDIT: I think I'm only going to make the animation work if the free roam ped has the cop belt equipped. Is that alright?

Sounds perfect, more than what I could have hope for. I look forward to seeing where this goes. Thanks for answering my question so quickly.

@PieRGud Question: Can you provide some way in the INI to add more peds to this? I have a mod installed to add LSPD detectives, and this doesn't work with that (as they're nondefault). Proposed format:

[PEDNAME]
Holstered_mesh_name = Unholstered_mesh_name
Holstered_mesh_name = Unholstered_mesh_name
For instance, this would be
[S_M_M_DICK_01]
HAIR_000 = HAIR_002
HAIR_001 = HAIR_003

@cp702 Sure. However, I did include support for Olanov's LSPD detectives in the mod because they're pretty popular - odd that it isn't working for you.

@Shove I'll get on that. With the future inclusion of what @cp702 proposed above, you should be able to add any ped you'd like.

Is there any hope of you making this work with every pistol in the game? Like the sns pistol, vintage pistol and so on. Also is it possible to make the holster animation work when you are wearing the police/sheriff vest? Because when i wear those, the animations don't play anymore, which is sad. Otherwise, great mod, really gives a nice sense of immersion.

Yep. I'm updating the plugin real soon so that the ini is a lot more customizable. It will allow you to select which weapons it will work for as well as for any ped and ped component you'd like.

Latest version seems incompatible with RHP 0.22. Getting a crash every 5-10minutes after since installing the new version of this mod.

This version of the mod is meant for 0.23. I'd suggest updating.

This version of the mod is meant for 0.22. I'd suggest updating.Everything is up to date, but the crashes only started when installing this mod. Perhaps it's just a coincidence, I'll keep looking.

Everything is up to date however, it's only since installing this mod my game's started to crash. Could just be a coincidence, I'll keep looking.

I've read the pdf file but I can't really understand how you get it to work so that when the pistol is equipped, it does not appear in the holster and vice versa. Could you explain how you do it in simple terms? Thank you :)

@911FordPoliceInterceptor Which ped are you looking to do this on? Or are you talking about the technical aspects of it?

I'd like to do it for the Sheriff, LSPD and SAHP peds if possible. Not sure if I'm talking about the techincal side haha

@911FordPoliceInterceptor By the "technical side", I thought you meant the actual code. :P

In regard to your question, it should already work on those peds.

It doesn't seem to work for me, I followed the instructions and all it seems to do is the animation but the unholster/reholster doesn't occur.. not sure what to do about it.

@CommanderShepard That's odd. Are you on RPH 0.23 or higher? Is the .ini file exactly the same as the one provided in the download?
