Mobile Data Terminal Alert Tones 1.1

(8 reviews)

1 Screenshot

Greetings LCDPFR, today I am releasing the GTA IV Alert Tones I use. The files replace the GPS DEFAULT.IVAUD and MALE_VOICE.IVAUD, completely removes the voice files and uses only tones. Now when you are dispatched there are custom alert tones that sound as soon as you are dispatched and several more times throughout your drive to the call. Features three tones used in several slots, the first one is recorded directly from a video taken from a ride along when the officer is dispatched and the other two are default Windows sound files, a lot of real life MDT's use similar Windows sounds to alert officers.

To install, open gps.rpf and import DEFAULT.ivaud and MALE_VOICE.ivaud, save and close. In your AUDIO menu in GTA IV make sure you have GPS turned on for all cars, and under the Display menu make sure the GPS Route is turned on as well.

NOTE: BE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR DEFAULT gps.rpf FILE BEFORE INSTALLING, THIS REMOVES THE GPS VOICE COMMS FROM THE gps AUDIO FILE

The tone used at 2:46, which I could edit to put in place for calculating route tone, is the one used by the Portland Police Bureau for call notification, as seen here

Also, if you listen to the average police computer the tones I've decided to include are fairly close to what's used in real life. I'd be happy to tell you how to create your own IVAUD files if you have audio which you'd like to use, though. But now that I think of it, I think I will place the tone I recorded off the video and use it for the sound played when you're first dispatched, and put the tone currently used in that slot for the You have arrived slot.

Thanks!

This is it

i think it would of been better to hear this without the dispatcher voice it was confusing for me at first at what this mod was

Gotcha. That sounds more like a dispatcher tone used over the air, rather than an actual MDT tone. The Portland Bureau of Emergency Communication uses that same tone for, I believe hold up alerts.

I've updated the mod, the tone in the youtube video of the ride along I posted is now the tone that is played when you accept a call.

Also, if I could safely alt-tab from my game I would have turned off the scanner before recording, but it's still pretty clear and also gives you an idea of how the MDT would sound in the background with siren, engine noise and a scanner running. A lot of people play with RadioReference running in the background.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I can't hear the dispatch what you have in your video?

I only hear a tone... ?

This mod is only the alert tones, what you hear is the scanner running in the background on the video. Check out www.radioreference.com for an online scanner
