Cryptic Emergency Traffic 2.1.0

(0 reviews)

1 Screenshot

Let's be honest.

You've probably tried ClearTheWayV or MTFO because you wanted traffic to actually get out of the way when responding to an emergency.

And then watched the AI proceed to collectively lose its fucking mind.

Cars brake-checking emergency vehicles. Civilian traffic reacting to things it shouldn't. Vehicles making bizarre manoeuvres during pursuits. Backup units getting caught up in the chaos. Traffic doing everything except behaving like actual drivers who have noticed a police car coming up behind them.

Cryptic Emergency Traffic was made because of exactly that.

Rather than forcing every vehicle in the area into some ridiculous scripted manoeuvre, Cryptic Emergency Traffic focuses on the traffic that actually matters: normal civilian vehicles ahead of you, travelling in the same direction.

What It Does

  • Traffic ahead of your emergency vehicle reacts and clears the way.

  • Civilian traffic is handled more naturally during normal emergency responses.

  • Yielding behaviour is automatically softened during high-speed responses.

  • Pursuit suspects are ignored and won't perform glitchy pull-over behaviour.

  • Vehicles involved in traffic stops are no longer affected by unwanted yielding behaviour.

  • Improved handling around backup units and multiple emergency vehicles.

  • Reduced aggressive braking and brake-checking.

  • Opposing traffic is no longer unnecessarily affected by the plugin.

  • No unnecessary keybinds.

  • Fully configurable behaviour through the included .ini.

Built for LSPDFR, Not Chaos

The goal isn't to make every car within a hundred metres suddenly panic because you've turned your siren on.

The goal is simple:

  • Traffic ahead of you recognises the emergency vehicle, reacts appropriately, and gets out of the way without creating a bigger problem than the emergency response itself.

  • No pursuit suspects suddenly trying to pull over.

  • No traffic-stop vehicles deciding they need to participate.

  • No backup units getting dragged into ridiculous civilian traffic reactions.

  • No unnecessary brake-checking.

  • Just cleaner, more controlled emergency traffic behaviour.

Why Cryptic Emergency Traffic?

ClearTheWayV and MTFO may work for some people, but if you've ever found yourself asking:

"Why the fuck is that car doing that?"

Then Cryptic Emergency Traffic takes a different approach.

  • Only affect the traffic that needs to be affected.

  • Leave everything else alone.

  • Let the emergency vehicle through.

That's it.

What's New in Version 2.1.0

Released

v2.1.0

A major refinement update focused on making emergency traffic behaviour smoother, more natural, and significantly less intrusive during pursuits and high-speed situations.

What's New?

Version 2.1.0 brings a major improvement to how Cryptic Emergency Traffic handles active pursuits, emergency vehicles, AI backup units, and normal Code 3 responses.

Previous versions could occasionally cause civilian traffic to react too aggressively during pursuits, resulting in unnatural braking, interference with backup units, and unnecessary chaos.

This update changes that.

Improved Pursuit Handling

Cryptic Emergency Traffic now uses improved LSPDFR pursuit detection to better understand when the player is actively involved in a pursuit.

During active pursuits, the plugin significantly reduces or disables civilian yielding behaviour to prevent traffic from interfering with:

  • Pursuit suspects

  • AI backup units

  • Other emergency vehicles

  • High-speed pursuit situations

This means traffic is far less likely to create unnecessary problems while you're chasing a suspect at speed.

Smoother, More Natural Traffic

This update also removes the use of SET_VEHICLE_FORWARD_SPEED, which was a major contributor to unnatural slowing and braking behaviour.

Other improvements include:

  • Reduced aggressive civilian reactions.

  • Less frequent traffic tasking.

  • Increased cooldowns to reduce twitching and repeated reactions.

  • Reduced unnecessary traffic detection.

  • Softer and more natural pull-over behaviour.

  • Improved emergency vehicle detection and exclusion.

  • Better separation between normal emergency responses and active pursuits.

The Goal

Normal Code 3 response?

Traffic should react and make room.

Active pursuit?

The plugin gets out of the way and avoids creating additional chaos.

That's the philosophy behind v2.1.0: affect traffic when it makes sense, and leave it alone when it doesn't.

Important

This update includes an updated and fully commented configuration file.

It is strongly recommended that you replace your existing CrypticEmergencyTraffic.ini with the new version included with this update.

So, everything is going great with the mod, but the issue I have is if the car on traffic stop fleet and I am on pursuit the car, I am chasing is keeping break checking or just doesn't go, just kind of getting stuck and don't even speed up. I don't know if that's something on my side or it's just the mod, but before installing the mod everything was great. and after I start having this issue

I'll have a look into this and try to push an update ASAP. Thank you for letting me know!

Hey Cryptic
I had AI move the plugin to the LSPDFR on duty folder
So pursuits and traffic stops don't get hit by the code
Yours is great but having it in rageplugin, can't detect suspects who needs to ignore the code

As in plugins\LSPDFR?

If so, I'll reupload the file's so that the installation path is correct.

Haha, yeah thanks to @Lunaveli I was able to switch the installation path.

I've just pushed a massive update for it now. Completely rewrote the code, the AI are a hell of a lot smoother now.

Is it just me because when i'm on a traffic stop just before they go past my vehicle they always make a full stop or they slow down to a slow speed?

Hey there!

The AI are supposed to come to a stop or slow down to a slow speed as they pass your vehicle. I made it for them to do this, so that it adds more realism, i.e., the slow down or move over law, that requires individuals to come to a stop for approaching emergency vehicles and pass parked emergency vehicles with lights activated at a slow speed.

I appreciate the support bro! I've got a few more updates planned to make this even better.

I am glad you are active on here. I was about to come cry about the plugin making my pusuits annoying and even breaking other plugins I have installed, like Policing Redefined. Gonna give the update a go!

Just released another update, this one has completely improve the AI. So the next few updates now will just be proper updates and less bug fixing hopefully.

Hey, just wanted to report something I noticed with this plugin. During LSPDFR pursuits, when I’m running Stage 3 lights/siren, the suspect vehicle and sometimes pursuing police units will repeatedly stop/go/stop/go like they’re trying to yield to the emergency vehicle. As soon as I turn my lights/siren off, the pursuit continues normally. I unloaded CrypticEmergencyTraffic and the issue disappeared completely, so it seems like the emergency traffic/yield logic may be affecting active pursuit vehicles. Figured I’d mention it in case pursuit suspects and police units need to be excluded from the yield system.

This was fixed a few updates ago, try installing the latest update to see if that hopefully fixes it.

If not I have a new update pending, which now uses the LSPDFR API. I personally haven’t had any issues with them yielding or attempting to yield with this new update pending, so hopefully that will resolve any issues you’re having.

Hello, I just wanted to point out that the assembly version of your plugin is: 1.0.0.0 instead of: 2.1.0.0

Do you have any other mods installed that handles traffic yielding or any changes to data files?

This has been extensively tested and worked perfectly fine for me and several of my QA Tester's.

Thank you for pointing that out, I'll get that sorted on my next update.
