Hello everyone 👋

This is Realistic Traffic AI, my custom traffic overhaul plugin for LSPDFR designed to significantly improve civilian driving behavior and create a more immersive patrol experience.

As we all know, default GTA V traffic can feel robotic, unpredictable, and unrealistic — especially during intersections, pursuits, and freeway driving.

This plugin rebuilds civilian behavior logic to create:

  • Smarter intersections

  • Better freeway reactions

  • Realistic emergency yielding

  • Intelligent lane behavior

  • More believable violations

The goal is simple:

👉 Make traffic feel human — not scripted.


🚦 Plugin Features

🚥 Advanced Traffic Light System


🔴 Red Light Behavior

  • Configurable violation percentage (TrafficLightRunPercent)

  • Drivers are assigned their behavior once per vehicle

  • No random frame-by-frame flipping

  • Realistic stopping patterns

Example:

  • 95% stop normally

  • 5% may run the red light


🟡 NEW – Yellow Light Hesitation Logic

Drivers now intelligently decide whether to:

  • Stop safely

  • Continue through the intersection

  • Hesitate briefly

Behavior depends on:

  • Speed

  • Distance to intersection

This removes unrealistic last-second brake slams.


🛣 NEW – Intelligent Lane Merge System

Vehicles now:

  • Detect blocked lanes

  • Merge smoothly

  • Avoid zig-zag behavior

  • Respect cooldown timers

  • React differently at freeway speeds

Traffic flow feels significantly more natural.


🧱 NEW – Obstacle Raycast Braking

AI vehicles now scan ahead for obstacles:

  • Cones

  • Barriers

  • Roadblocks

  • Traffic disruptions

Drivers gradually slow down instead of ramming into objects.

Scan distance automatically increases at higher speeds.


🛣 NEW – Advanced Freeway Behavior

High-speed traffic now:

  • Reacts earlier to hazards

  • Merges more smoothly

  • Maintains consistent cruising speeds

  • Reduces sudden braking chains

Freeway driving feels dramatically improved.


🧠 NEW – Multi-Lane AI Intelligence

Drivers now evaluate:

  • Lane availability

  • Blocked paths

  • Traffic density

  • Environment type (city vs freeway)

This creates more believable, less robotic traffic patterns.


🚨 Improved Emergency Vehicle Yielding

When you activate lights and sirens:

  • Civilians detect you from behind

  • Pull safely toward the shoulder

  • Slow naturally

  • Re-enter traffic smoothly

Realistic unpredictability still exists:

  • Some drivers hesitate

  • Some partially block

  • Some react late

Just like real life.


Customizable Settings

An automatic .ini file is created on first launch.

You can configure:

  • TrafficLightRunPercent

  • EnableLaneChanges

  • EnableTrafficLaw

  • EnableEmergencyMoveOver

  • LaneChangeDistance

  • LaneChangeSpeed

  • LaneChangeCooldown

  • MoveOverDistance

  • MoveOverOffset

This allows you to fine-tune realism vs performance.

📋Notes (LSPDFR)

 

  • If you want Compatibility for Move The F*** Over and ClearTheWay V. Just turn off EnableLaneChanges = True to False and should work. You might need to do EnableTrafficLaw = True to false as well, then at that point I wouldn't have both installed.

  • The RealisticTrafficAI.ini will be generated upon doing ReloadAllPlugins or if you load it up via RPH Console.

Just some general questions on this really quick

  1. Does this function with other mods that change AI behaviour? (e.g. ClearTheWay V, AI Traffic & Fluidity, etc)
  2. When the AI move over for you, does this make them wait for the right of way to pass? (i.e. currently, using mods that make them go around, the ai will go around, but will assume right of way, causing them to hit oncoming traffic, which leads the that classic gta 5 traffic jam of chaos from hell)
  3. Does this mod mess with AI following and not following speed limits (rn there's already a good balance, but I'm more/less just curious on this question)

Oh, and 4. Does this mod make them go around your traffic stop backup's vehicle as well, or become more patient with emergency vehicles that are blocking extra lanes of traffic. (currently while being able to enable traffic control is a thing, sometimes things can get a little chaotic within or just outside of that radius, that's why I'm wondering if that will create a nice little fix to that behavior)

@IceGuy2211. Since CTW V does the similar thing. I wouldn't recommend using it with this as I have added multiple checkers for the AI to move over around you if your stopped with Lights/Sirens on/ while your responding they put there blinker on and pull over to the right or left, depending on your lane.

 

2. Yes they will pull over and wait a few seconds after you pass, I tested it my self and got the results I wanted

 

3. I tried to get the Speed Limit things to work, but couldn't so in a later update I will attempt to do so!

thanks for the fast response, while you did give a valid answer to that second question, it is my fault for not clarifying better. but i meant when you are on a traffic stop and vehicles are moving around you to give you space, will they avoid cutting into traffic and wait their turn after that oncoming/upcoming traffic to pass via their right of way

idk why but every time i pull someone over theres atleast like 2 cars not related to the traffic stop they just stop in the middle of the road. when i removed the mod they dont seem to do that anymore might wanna look into that

 this was interfering with me trying to pull people over is there a way to look into that its a great mod

Great work, and appreciate the ini options. Please consider looking into muting drivers if the Player is within a given distance— really annoying when on a traffic-stop and their yelling in the background. Many thanks.

i like good focus.  try an (all trafficstop backup pack) I would love to see that from you nothing but traffic stop backups diffrent outcomes more calm realism

As for big truck and such to move out of the way, he can always message RCrw that created Ai Traffic Fluidity which maybe able to show him know to make them move out of way during code 3.

 

Ai Traffic Fluidity is still getting new update, but since the creator are busy in real life, it will take time.

 

But yes, this is a good plugin.

@MisterDanimalYeah the tier that gets you just only LaRevo is the Silver Tier 9-10$ a month. 5real with it too is 12$ monthly for the gold tier

And something last,is it possible to make the arrive of the police ai better at scene? AI police vehicles often stop right in the middle of the road. It would be much better (and more realistic) if they could pull over to a safer or more appropriate location instead of blocking traffic. It would also be great if AI vehicles could go around stopped or obstructing vehicles instead of just waiting behind them and causing traffic jams. It would make the traffic behavior feel much more realistic. I don’t know if any of these can be done, but it would definitely make the game feel more realistic. thanks!
