Experience traffic like never before. Built from the ground up to simulate natural density, realistic congestion, night calmness, and rush hour chaos.
This isn't just a tweak. This is a traffic system that responds to time, location, and intensity.

 

 

 

🧠 What This Mod Does

Realistic Traffic dynamically adjusts traffic density based on:
 

  • 🕒 In-game time (rush hour, night, regular day)
     

  • 🌍 Location (city, rural, highways)
     

  • 📆 Day of the week (weekend evening boost)
     

Unlike the previous version (Realistic Traffic till 4.0), with this plugin you get lively traffic that changes around you.


 

🚗 Key Features

  • Dynamic Rush Hour Simulation
    Morning (6–9 AM) and evening (4–7 PM) peak traffic with congested highways and slower movement.

     

  • Ultra-Realistic Night Traffic
    From midnight to 5 AM, most roads are nearly empty. Just 1–3 cars every few blocks.

     

  • Rural Traffic Zones
    Sandy Shores, Paleto Bay, Grapeseed and mountain roads always stay calmer whether it's night or day.

     

  • Weekend Evenings Get Busy
    Friday and Saturday nights simulate nightlife traffic, with increased flow after 8 PM.

     

  • Traffic Horn Simulation

    During rush hour, stopped vehicles occasionally honk for realism.
     
  • Menu
    You can turn the horn on and off via the menu. You can also enable or disable Rush Boost.
    Default key is F3, you can change it in the ini.
     
  • Better emergency lane when lights on NEW

    Vehicles will automatically move to the side (right/left) when the siren signal is switched onSome NPCs will “fail” and not dodge correctly.

 

 

 

 

🔧  Future features
 

  • 🌧️  Weather-based density adjustment:

    • Less traffic during heavy rain/thunderstorms

    • More traffic jams in drizzle (accidents, braking)
       

  • 🏙️  City-related density zones (e.g., Davis, Vinewood):

    • Density is also regulated by district (e.g. Vinewood = denser, Blaine County = less)

⚠ Known Limitations

  • Due to engine limitations, density is still bound by gameconfig & streaming range.

  • For best results, use with an enhanced gameconfig.xml (included).

✏️ Notice

 

  •  If you've just started the game and the traffic isn't right, you may need to manually set a time for the traffic to update. From then on, the traffic will run completely dynamically
    This doesn't have to happen, but it can occasionally occur.
     
  • The heavy game config is recommended. If your game can't handle all that traffic, you'll need to switch to the middle game config.
    Unfortunately, the middle gameconfig is limited in its functionality. It primarily reduces traffic overall. 
    If you still want to play with the heavy version, you'll need to lower your graphics settings or remove certain graphics mods.

    This doesn't have to happen, but it can occasionally occur.

    IMPORTANT:
  • If Rockstar Games releases an update and the game starts crashing or won't start at all, it's most likely due to the gameconfig included with that mod. This must be replaced with a current custom gameconfig until this mod receives an update.

Do you mean traffic that is differently full at certain times?
This is planned and comes with version 2.0 called Dynamic Traffic. There will be rush hour traffic, slightly low traffic in the evenings and very low traffic at night. Hopefully this will make it even more realistic

To do this, you can install and set addons that then drive around in different places.. Or set up existing vanilla vehicles so that they drive in the areas where you want to see them

Version 1.3 includes the current Gameconfig.xml as it was updated by R*. The functionalities remain the same.

Normally, Steam's recommended system requirements should be sufficient for this game.

If you want medium traffic, you can use the gameconfig in the folder "middle traffic"

The gameconfig is this one, optimized for my Traffic Mod. Its a custom gameconfig for addons etc.
Yeah, its included in the folder "gameconfig"

I just installed the mod, with the dynamic option and im sorry but is this supposed to be the "light traffic" for blaine county?

granted its like 5 PM on this picture, but still, its too much for blaine county. even for back roads.

In all honesty, I wanna download this as there's nothing like it with the correct gameconfig. Is it worth it in the current state?

Brother i was laughing so bad, even going up to mount chilliand and seeing all the cars fly and as i went closer they started to fall and fucking EXPLODE lmaoooo

My guess is that the mod creator has the mod :DNX chilliad town installed, and when making the mod, the AI affected that you know

the mod idea seems fine but please fix the amount of NPCs in blaine county, i would suggest to make a version for DNX town and without it.

The bug will be fixed as soon as possible.
But I wonder how the cars get to fly haha

Is there a way to disable the honking.... The honking was literally non-stop at each light.

The cars are flying because it seems they have pathing for the DNX chilliad town mod, the "lines" they go trough aling 1:1 with the roads of that mod
Once you get close they start to fall, its honestly a pretty common bug with custom maps and custom AI pathing

But it might be a bug on my end so who knows.

Normally, this has nothing to do with the Chiliad Town mod, so it doesn't affect the bug. Unfortunately, I haven't found a location in my game where the cars are flying. Could you perhaps give me the exact address where you observed it? That would be very helpful.

There is a location in my code that could be causing it, but before I change it, I wanted to see the problem myself so I could experiment with it.

i couldnt give you an EXACT location as it was happening all around mount chilliad, but one of the places where you would notice it is on the dirt roads from grapeseed to mouth chilliad

Also, i was checking my dlc folder and i had things regarding the Blaine County traffic lights mod, which also have things for the chilliad town mod, maybe they were conflicting


As for the huge amount of cars, i think it had mainly to do with the gameconfig because even when i disabled your mod, there was still an exagerated amount of cars everywhere

The gameconfig ensures that Rockstar Games limit can be increased. If you remove the script and leave the game config in, there will be a lot of uncontrolled vehicles because the script is missing.

The game config allows many vehicles to spawn.
I need this game config to enable rush hour traffic.

I've been looking for the flying cars for a long time now and haven't found any. Maybe it really is one of your installed mods that's causing conflicts.

Yes, the blaine county traffic lights adds traffic lights, but i also has some compatability patches for the chilliad town mod, they include nodes for example, i believe whats what might have caused it because when i installed it, the intructions were extremetly hard to follow

And sure, ill test it and let you know if the traffic in blaine county is still extreme

Yeah now the traffic is much more common lol, altho still maybe more than i would think as per blaine county population, but i did notice the new menu letting you adjust it, so its just personal prefference thing
I do believe the honk is still too much, as they honk even when at a normal stop light without any traffic.
