Resource Adjuster 1.0.0

(33 reviews)

2 Screenshots

A collection of patches (some of which are used by FiveM) to improve stability, reduce texture loss and actually use your system's available resources as much as possible.

Please note that this script is designed for high end systems with 8GB or more of GPU memory and more than 8GB of system memory available to be used solely by the game, although this is configurable via the included INI file.

Requirements

  • An ASI loader like the one included with ScriptHookV "dinput8.dll".

Installation
Place "GTAV.ResourceAdjuster.asi" & "ResourceAdjuster.ini" into your Grand Theft Auto V folder.

Changelog
1.0

  • Initial release.

Been using this with 1060 6GB VRAM on 1600 additional and it works great on high/very high settings!

You should be good, was thinking about adding stuff like the heap but there's already so many good mods that target that already, if there was a conflict you could fix it by disabling experimental mode just now anyway, or eventually additional settings in the config in an update.

As for recommended memory I'd stick around 2048 and test, nothing bad happens with setting too much but it may lead to stuttering eventually, I've yet to get texture loss with the 1900 default and I have quite a lot of graphics, map and vehicle mods right now.

It would be great if you could help me test it actually, if you use too much GPU memory it will essentially be knocked down a tier into using some of your system memory which can lead to bad performance/texture loss again, stock maxed out GTA on my machine defaults to 1.5GB before this mod.

If you open task manager and go to performance then GPU you can see a breakdown at the bottom of GPU memory being used, would be good to see what the baseline usage is without this mod and then potentially with it.

I have a 1660 what would I need to do to get this to work? 6gb gtx 1660

Surprised I've never seen this before. If it works as well as people claim it does that's amazing. I'll have to give it a shot. Saves me a lot of time lowering custom car textures haha.

You sir are a king for this. I've been mitigating texture loss for years doing every trick in the book, but this singlehandedly removed any texture loss. Now I can crank my graphics settings and use a ton of addon vehicles. 5/5, essential mod.

Amazing mod, I just have one issue. Recently my game started crashing, I was curious so I removed Resource Adjuster, and my game stopped crashing.

I did a full fresh install and I am on v2845 With everything up to date, and for some reason, whenever I install Resource Adjuster my game starts crashing. I have a GTX 1660 with 6GB of VRam and I have had no issues in the past. In the INI The value is set to 1300 (for 1.3gbs of VRam).

I wanted to see if you might know anything. And if you didn't figured I would report it as a bug.

Finally no more texture loss.

But recently I experienced some stuttering every few seconds (1-2 sec freeze all 10-15 seconds) when calling too much or specific units. (Not sure about the exact reason though - could also be ultimate backup combined with eup)

Running GTX1070 with 8 GB Ram. System has 16 GB Ram. The initial value in the config of 1900 was working fine before, but now should I lower or increase? Not sure how this works exactly, I don´t want to mess up. Sometimes changes in GTA5 are permanent although you revert it back. (e.g. traffic is all messed up with the first color bug although the vanilla popgroups.ymt is running again)

Sorry just seen this, been really busy irl. This is just a memory hook script, no changes are permanent so feel free to experiment. Stuttering is likely another mod/too many or you are reaching the limit for what your computer can handle and hitting memory limits.

Check your usage via task manager for example, if your GPU memory is near max try lowering the config (although I try to avoid this in the script already), otherwise it's likely another mod demanding too much, you could also try reducing your game settings then restarting if you are close to the limits.

What’s up man. Im running an RTX 4090 and an intel I9 13900KF with 32gb DDR5 ram… just trying to see what is a good number for the “additionalGPUMemory” or should I keep it 1900. Still getting a little texture loss

EDIT

I realise i had it in the wrong place in my directory. Set the ini to 2000 with no texture loss so far. Looks great. Getting roughly 130-150 fps with NVE and graphics all maxed. At night with rain around 110-120.

Good to hear you got it working. I've had a few folk with RTX 4090s tell me they've used 10000 for the ini and been fine, but until you actually use up the memory it's meaningless, so yeah ~2000 is a good starting point for stability and enough to run LSPDFR, NVE, map remasters and full car replace packs with 0 texture loss, atleast for myself anyway.

oh nice okay. I’ll probably bump that number up to get some leg room for some extra mods

Yeah likely at some point but I'm working on another mod atm which I want to get at least out for testing first.

Wonderful for eliminating texture loss but sadly causes a bad memory leak for me. With this mod installed my vram goes up steadily until a crash (I have a 24gb vram RTX Strix 3090) and it is never freed up until that crash. Without the mod, I get texture loss sure but my vram is always cleared up once the offending models are out of sight.

Is there any fix for this?

Are you copying all the files into your GTA V directory and not changing any values, If so, what main graphics mods are you using?

I did initially and found the game would run out of memory almost immediately. Now I've set the value to 20,000 which mitigates it but still crashes eventually. The vram usage just increases steadily and never clears itself as it does without this mod.

Unsure of what you mean by graphics mods, I use scripts and addon cars but no mods to change the game graphically. (no ENB, no reshade, etc.)

By graphics mods I meant stuff like NVE, QuantV, VisualV etc. On the latest GTA V and ScriptHook I can't get a crash on my end with my game maxed out and a couple of mods installed, all it takes is one step skipped or one mod interacting badly with another to cause crashes so it can be very hard to diagnose.

Yeah mines is still working on the latest patch, I quickly checked the sig offsets with cheat engine and they still point to the same data as well. R* would likely need to make pretty sizeable changes for it to throw off the offsets as well. Unless you are using a cracked version or another mod that makes similar changes it really should still work.
