Realistic LAPD Siren for GTA 5

Singleplayer & FiveM

 

I've been trying to find a good quality and realistic siren for my Los Angeles based LSPDFR for a while.

Even though there are a lot of LAPD sirens out there, after hours of testing them one by one, I just couldn't get satisfied with any of them. So I decided, why not trying to make one by myself?

 

I extracted the tones from those real LAPD response videos on YouTube, then edited them to make them sound louder and less disturbed.

Included tones: 

  • Wail
  • Yelp
  • Air Horn

 

That's right, no priority tone: LAPD doesn't use it. Gotta keep it realistic, man.

⚠️ WARNING!

If you experience muted vehicle sounds after downloading my siren, please be aware that this is NOT caused by my mod, but it is a GTA 5 limitation itself, for which the vehicles.awc file, located in your RESIDENT.rpf, cannot exceed 16,132 KB in size.

Why is this happening? After installing custom sounds (for example this siren), the vehicles.awc file size will increase, and, especially if you have already installed other custom sounds, this size may possibily go over the limit imposed by the game developers, thus causing muted sounds.

How do I fix this? Simply install this below. This is actually a really common issue when installing custom sounds, so you can also find lots of information and help online.

 

Oh, and if for some reason you can't successfully install a siren into your game in 2022, well, I tought about you: the installation instructions are located in the README.txt file.

Glad you liked it! The yelp is def my favorite. The wail could be improved especially on the initial part but this is the best I can do for now 🙂

Ok, i'm still gonna keep my review though I ran into an issue on the Air Horn, when I hold down the horn for a few seconds it kind of makes a weird sound like a sizzling sound not sure how to explain so I 'l send you a video. I hope you understand what I mean

    So I just installed the siren sounds in the way described in the readme but for some reason now I don't have any siren sounds or police horn sounds anymore

    For anyone wondering, it caused by a GTA V limitation for which the vehicles.awc file cannot exceed 16,132KB in size. It will cause muted game files. To fix it, try installing this:

    Are you sure they are the ones actually causing the crash? Hardy sound mods crash the game. Are you installing them for FiveM or SinglePlayer?

    Mabye I don't know how to install them correctly...When the readme tells me to simply replace a file, it doesn't crash. But when I have to do something with "import open formats" and so on...I might be doing something wrong 😅

    Siren sounds pretty good, one issue though. The wail and yelp are two different sirens lol. The videos you took the audio from are from two different vehicles. The wail is from a 2014 Explorer, which uses the older SS2000SM. However the yelp was taken from a 2018 Explorer, which uses the newer SSP3000A. Just a slight issue, nothing huge :).
