About This File

Overview
Sergeant offers functionalities that give the player more 'middle management' command over the world (hence its name).

Features
- Command Vehicles (See video HERE!!!) : Give commands to individual vehicles, including "Stop", "Go and Stop" and "Go and Drive".

- Secure Scene (See video HERE!!!) : Don't you hate being left all by yourself to deal with crime scenes? Not anymore. When you give the order to "Secure Scene," all traffic in the surrounding area will immediately stop. Any cop in the vicinity will either tend to the bodies, guard suspects, or roam the area doing stuff. If there are no cops around, or not enough, you can always call for backup as you normally would, and any cop arriving at the scene will get an assignment (unless there are already enough cops assigned - you won't have 100 cops around just for 1 suspect). Once you have set up your cones and barriers (like with Traffic Policer), you can order all traffic to move again while the "scene" is still in place.

All features are fully configurable from the included INI file.

NOTE: if you press "C" and nothing happens it means that your requirements are not properly installed

Installation
Unzip to your MAIN GTA V FOLDER, maintaining the folder structure in the ZIP file.

Read the included PDF.

Planned Features
- Recruit and give orders to cops.

- Give orders to pedestrians.

Known issues
- When corpses are close to vehicles, cops occasionally try to get under the vehicles, causing them to fly in the air.
 

Mod compatibility
- This mod may conflict with certain aspects of other mods. Nothing too serious that I know of (e.g., vehicles actively handled by other mods that are ordered to stop by this mod may not keep driving when ordered to do so later, or cops may refuse to secure a scene if they are doing stuff requested by other mods).


What's New in Version 0.7

Released

- FEATURE: Cops will now get scene assignments even if they are in a vehicle (they'll stop and get out)
- FEATURE: When securing a scene, roaming cops will be reassigned to any new corpse/arrestee that is detected
- FIX: Cops now respond to hostilities while securing a scene if attacker is inside the scene radius
- FIX: Cops now correctly face corpses
- FIX: (hopefully) When on/under bridges/trees/slopes, cops securing a scene no longer go to the wrong "height" or start continuously falling or getting swollen by the ground.

Awesome Mod finally you can have the good for nothing backup do something useful besides running you over and the backup units finally direct the impatient traffic to stop for a crime scene or accident investigation.  Thank you for making this mod, I was tired of being run over and wasted by the npc's while on duty.

Without a doubt, one of the best mods out there...thanks for thinking outside of the box on this one and not add another boring callout.  Looking forward to the continued improvements.

Hi rw18,

 

first of all thanks for the mod, it really improves the gameplay but the sergeant mod is still not a alpha version, lot's of crashes and i don't really like the GUI you are offering. Adapt it more into the game. For me it is a plugin which is a standalone one and that's what i don't like just a big GUI for one little plugin. Include the main stuff like securing a place in police radio. Why not adapt everything more?

 

Idea is good but there are still ways to improve this + the crashes = only 3 stars

All commands don't work. Seems like it only works for a second, then the AI go back to their path before I interrupted. Go and Stop, and Go and Continue make the cars move an inch, but that is all, after that they do not follow my directions and move on. Stop only stops them for a few seconds. At a red light if I tell them to either Go and Stop and Go and Continue they will inch forward, if I continue doing so they will run the red light but not go where I told them to, they will go their own path, same for Stop. Now it says stop may not work due to a mod issue but I'm having issues with all commands, also, I downloaded everything Jeff on YouTube did and even didn't install all of his mods and his Sergeant works fine, so it can't be a mod issue or conflict. This is what a conflict with another mod looks like. What is happening in your video:

- Sergeant gives a task to a vehicle when you give an order to it.

- The vehicle obeys that order.

- The cycle from the other mod kicks in. This is usually a periodic process that mods run every X number of milliseconds to minimize the hit on the processor and avoid performance issues. This overrides the task given by Sergeant.

- At this point, the vehicle is no longer under Sergeant's control.

 

The fact that sometimes the commands don't work at all, and sometimes they work for a second, is because the cycle of the conflicting mod happens to run immediately after you give the command.

Updated: Vehicles will stop during the secure scene order now but at no other time. When I give a stop command to an individual vehicle, the vehicle puts on the brakes for about a second then keeps going. When I command a vehicle to go and keep driving, they go and stop. I have no other plugin that modifies drivers besides make peds calm again. I don't know why this works so poorly but until it no longer does, I can't give a higher rating.

All keybindings CAN be customized from the Community Contextual Menu API's INI file settings (ContextualMenuAPI.ini under the \Scripts\ folder).

As for the vehicles not stopping, that is the last thing I'd expect to fail since it was rock-solid and not particularly complex. My first guess is some kind of conflict with another mod, but if the problem persists, I'd like to see your log files to see if I can find the issue.

I really love the idea, and lspdfr need such a mod desperately. What I would suggest is trying to make this a non script folder mod. It don't know anything about coding...but your really close to what I would really love in game, I have to give you 3 star for trying and what I would love is #1 easier to use #2 easy to run with little memory demand and fps loss. Having kinda of a menu for traffic control when you select a car with the option to stop, move there etc...a controller binding key would be great too. Those are all my dream idea for this kinda of mod. I gotta give you credit for being able to maneuver traffic in lspdfr. Having the AI hard coded is an acomplishement of it's own.

Oh wow. Just what I was asking for ages! It's a must-have now in order to have control over a scene after everything is settled like active shooters. Love this. And this Contextual Menu stuff is very intuitive. There's also a vehicle control for this over at GTA5-Mods and its amazing. Thanks for introducing this to us.

Overall I'm giving a 5 star in advance to what I hope new updates because this has great potential. Maybe commanding task to individual police officers?

Jeff Favignano introduced me to the plugin and I really love it. I just closed down the center of the city after a terrorist attack without this plugin it would have just been me as they would have all left! SO TOP MARKS!!! However, there are some key conflicts with Police Smart Radio by Albo. The C, G, and Z keys are the issue. I understand you can alter the key mapping in the ini file but there is no key code to alter in there. It does work but there are a lot of do you want to close the scene pop ups when I do not want them and it spoils the immersion somewhat.

There is no code to config the key bindings in the sergeant.ini file that says for example how can I add something like 
ToggleRadioKey=C
ToggleRadioModifierKey=None
NextButtonKey=G
PreviousButtonKey=T
SelectButtonKey=Z
NextPageKey=Right
PreviousPageKey=Left

without breaking it?

Just need something so we can easily alter to change the keys. Can you provide some code we can add to that ini file copy and paste will do so we can change the keyboard binding for it please? Or create a new file with it built in? But with the existing defaults as shown above we can simply alter. Smart Police Radio can have conflict issues (well for me at least) if their default keys are altered as it is a umbrella plugin for others. So its easier to alter individual plugins.

Seems like a great mod. How ever I download all the in dependencies that you linked in this page, I still have not yet to been able to bring up the menu with C. I downloaded Script hook script hook.net and the latest rage version .62, I installed the menu for it, I still have not succeeded I think the Folder location and everything might be the problem. Specifically the "Script" folder I think might be the problem because I put the script folder in the main directory, and it didn't work I also put the Script folder in the plugins folder. It still didn't work. It says sergeant is loaded  when I bring up the LSPDFR COMMAND BOARD (F4) but it says version is loaded 0.0.0.0 which might mean you touched something or I have, dunno but it says that or maybe its just supposed too which set off the flag of me thinking your mod might be corrupted as I'm seeing everyone has a fine success with it, in May. I installed this June 26th so maybe you added something that prevents me from the file working. I honestly don't have a clue as to why this isn't working I've followed all your instructions and I've also followed the 4 links that you have put in desc and download all of em. No Success. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OR WALK ME THROUGH IT.                                 BTW THE DEVELOPER OF THE MOD I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU DO A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON HOW TO INSTALL EVERYTHING FOR THIS MOD AS IT WILL PROBABLY SAVE EVERYONE'S TIME OF ASKING QUESTIONS LIKE ME. Again the scripts folder is a new thing to me which might be the problem SOMEONE PLEASE HELP OR DEVELOPER JUST ADD A VIDEO TUTORIAL ON HOW TO DO THIS.                       SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!

Truely a phenomenal mod that adds that extra bit of realism to LSPDFR by making things feel more alive. There's nothing more unrealistic than having all the cops leave the scene after a mass shooting! Great work on the mod and I can't wait to see what else you can bring to the table. 🙂

Love it. No crashes. No more than usual. (helps to install it correctly)  A little bit of learning curve though.  Neat GUI. Love the ability to get peds out of my face.

This mod is fantastic! It really helps with immersion, it's so frustrating to be the only officer on scene in LSPDFR and this mod fixes that. The pullover feature is nice too, makes running speed/license checks on foot much easier.

Now I am ready to give a review. This mod is way too cool to not have. This infact is a must have! Tired of civies getting impatient and yelling at you to move while your trying to do your job at a crime scene. You now have the ability to make them stop and turn their vehicles around and leave the area! Tired of responding to a job and cars at a light wont move, you can now order them to move to the right or left to clear the way! The cool part is you can do this inside and outside of your patrol vehicle! The only thing I would ask of the author is to put controller support! I hate looking for keys on the key board ! lol But this mod is an awesome new tool to having full control of this game!

Since this script mod came out, I put it in my game and played using it multiple times to make as a police officer my work more action-filled like it should be (compared in real life). But the best experience came out when I had an active shooter, responding Code 99. After neutralizing the suspect, I used this mod, along with stopping traffic and requesting backup units, and I felt like I was actually clearing out an active shooter scene. I mean, not my first callout of this kind, but unlike the other times which I was left alone to deal with all the dirty work, this time I really had my buddies helping me out (which never happened until now). I had to say it: this makes the game MUCH MORE REALISTIC!
