Realistic Los Angeles Street Names + Compass 1.0.0

(2 reviews)

6 Screenshots

This script replaces GTA V street names with realistic Los Angeles equivalents and adds a lightweight compass + jurisdiction display.

Please note, that this is my first ever mod created with the help of AI.

Highly Inspired by @Venoxity 's SimpleHUD and the Vcompass mod by MNHC Mods.

Features:

- Real LA street names (200+ replacements)

- City vs County detection

- Clean HUD (no vanilla districts)

- Built-in compass (no external mods required)

- Optimized for LSPDFR

Installation:

Drop the .cs file into your /scripts/ folder.

Requirements:

- ScriptHookV

- ScriptHookVDotNet v3

THIS WILL BE WIP!!!

SMALL DISCLAIMER/ INFO

The Areas/ Streets might not be 1:1 geographically. I kept my focus on what for me makes the most sense. If you like to change Areas or Streets, you can open the .cs file with Notepad++ and change the name of the street or area to your preference.

What you can expect in the future:

I'm currently working on a postal system, either compatible with the SimpleHUD postal map or a Los Angeles County inspired postal code system. As well as an in-game menu.

Have Fun!

I really appreciate the overall positive feedback!

Please hit me up if you have any experience in scripting.

Please be gentle on me since this is my very first mod :)

AI disclosure

The author has disclosed that AI tools were used in creating the following aspects of this file:

  • Description
  • Images
  • Mod and Mod Content (Substantial)

I used help from ChatGPT to get the scripting/ coding done, since I do not have any clue as of how that works. This was what I felt was missing for my LA/ SoCal setup for the last couple of years.

Great stuff, thanks! Now LA is more realistic!

A suggestion for the future: Adjustments (size, position, maybe color)

Thank you very much.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

I'm working on a customizable .ini config as of right now.

I will need some time to get a in-game menu done.

I gotta learn to make stuff like this lmfao

honestly it’s not that difficult.

ChatGPT explained to me how the structure works and then just messed around a couple of times.

You basically just need time and a lot of patience.

I ended up making my own ver of this as I play ASP a lot. It was pretty straightfoward once i understood how SHV worked with the importing

Thank you for the adjustment!

Unfortunately, the entire display disappears after the update. If no one else is having this problem, it must be due to me or some other mod.

There was a SHVDN update, you might need to update that

Thank you for the tip, but unfortunately no.

I have "ScriptHookVDotNet-v3.7.0-nightly.126" and the ScriptHookVDotNet.log says (maybe this will help):

[DEBUG] Successfully compiled LAStreetNames.cs using API version 3.7.0. If you find the script not working as the author(s) intended, you could annotate an API version by adding a dot and a single-digit number for API version before the extension (e.g. "LAStreetNames.2.cs").

[INFO] Found 1 script(s) in LAStreetNames.cs resolved to API version 3.7.0 (script assembly version: 0.0.0.0, target API version: 3.7.0).

[DEBUG] Instantiating script LAStreetNames ...

[INFO] Started script LAStreetNames.

Unfortunately, I can't make sense of this, as there are several such entries.

Very nice! I edited it to make the highways and streets Houston themed since I have a whole Houston/DPS/HCSO/PCT4 game directory

Could contain: vehicle, land vehicle, text, wheel, outdoor, transport, tire, police car, law enforcement, police, vehicle registration plate, van, car

That is exactly how I wanted it to be used!

Very happy :)

Enjoy Brother
