Modding DLC Pack V 1.2.0.0

(36 reviews)

Modding DLC Pack V allows for a simplified installation process of peds, weapons, vehicles and meta file entries - both for addons and replacements.

After installing the Modding DLC Pack V OIV file, you can do the following, all from one central folder:

  • Install unlimited addon/replacement peds and addon peds.meta entries;
  • Install replacement weapons;
  • Install unlimited addon/replacement vehicles including support for vehicles.meta, carvariations.meta and handling.meta;
  • Add custom names to your (addon) vehicles;
  • Easily restore all of the above after a GTA 5 update.

Please ensure to carefully read the supplied README.pdf file for tutorials and guides on how to do all of the above. I have also done a video tutorial series (see above) showing how to perform all of the above properly.

Many thanks to @festivalmatt for his very many valuable contributions to Modding DLC Pack V.

Credits for the included gameconfig.xml file go to Dilapidated.

Please do not reupload or redistribute Modding DLC Pack V as a standalone file. If you would like to use Modding DLC Pack V as a base to release a pack of mods or similar, that’s fine - please include credit and a link back to this original Modding DLC Pack V ☺

I have been looking for a way to organize and consolidate all of my add-on vehicles including vehicles.meta and carvariations.  I think Albo's method here is AMAZING.  Thus far, I have installed 5 add-on CHP vehicles, and renamed them as such, CHP, CHP2, CHP3, CHP4, and CHP5.

I have all of the cars working properly, handing, audio, etc.  I can spawn them manually and everything is great, the models, textures, and everything else is great.

I added these file names in to LSPDFR's backup file, for when I call STATE patrol.  However, only the Police Bike shows up.

It seemed to me as if LSPDFR can't find the files in Albo's mods DLC, however, my Police Bike is ALSO a custom model that is in the same folder.

The only difference could be that POLICEB is a default GTAV model name and CHP, CHP2, CHP3, CHP4, and CHP5 are not.

However, I never had this problem before when installing add-on vehicles.  For instance, LSPDFR was able to successfully load the FBI6 or Police 5 models when calling for backup.  The only difference here is that these models were previously installed in one of GTAV's DLC folders, not Albo's DLC folder.

By the way, I started clean - I deleted my mods folder entirely and started over, just to make sure that there would be no conflicts between previously installed models and now, Albo's organized way of installing models.

Any thoughts or ideas?

@BlaineBug can you post your backup.xml so we can have a look? And btw, are you using custom backup?

The strange thing is, now, it seems to be working.  I have noticed all 5 of my CHP models spawning when calling for state patrol backup AND panic button with smart radio.  It might seem like the bike does spawn more often, though, but it is not the sole responding vehicle.

In the past I have removed the bike entirely from the backup.  I'd rather see vehicular models personally :)  I might do that again...

By the way, no, I am not using custom backup.  Should I?

Hey Albo I've been using your pack for a very long time and very much enjoy its simplicity. but for some reason if I ever try to use the handling.meta it just crashes  the game.

For ex, I recently installed a Raptor police truck. This truck works as is and has no issues, but i wanted to change the handling to the Kamacho. So I tried changing it in vehicles meta. game crashed. (I actually found the dlc handling line. I figured the rockstar may have prevented its use.)

So i copied the entire handling config for that vehicle into the handling.meta from this mod, and changed its name to fordRaptor. This handling.meta also causes the game to crash. I have also tried installing a few other mods that include handling.meta's and they cause the game to crash.

1.) install handling.meta (Handling Name "Fordraptor")
2.)edit vehicles.meta  (Handling ID "FordRaptor")
3.) Launch game
4.)Game loads
5.)Spawn raptor with trainer.
6.) CTD

Here Are my Files
I also attached the files for you in case you want to use your own code editor to look. (As txt's because I cant upload .meta files)

Vehicles Meta (I truncated the Working Item lines between the comments so you only have to read the two that i have issues with.)

Just to make sure it wasn't some weird model bug I even tried copying the handling file it used originally (and worked)  into the mods handling meta renaming it to "FORDRAPTOR" This also crashed the game.

I tried editing the update.rpf handling line to include this and it crashes the game at the main menu, not when the vehicle is called.

This is what happens regardless of the vehicle using a custom handling, even if the handling is a rockstar provided one.

I would appreciate if you could look over the text for me and maybe let me know where I am going wrong?

P.S. 14raptor and 17raptor are the ones I am trying to change.  17RaptorDEL is on its own.

Does it crash during loading or after in game? Usually if it crashes during loading, the issue is somewhere in those meta edits. I've only done the car variations and vehicles.meta edits. Never handling. So if you put the original back, it works? Or am I misreading that? Like what happens if you don't change the name? Or do you have to?

I'm not sure if this applies to you or not. Just saw this in the PDF

Handling.meta NEW/ADDON entries go into  Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\MODDING\dlc.rpf\common\data\handling.meta.

then it goes on to say

Handling.meta entries that are in the game by default, however, CANNOT be replaced via the DLC and must be done in the default handling.meta:  Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\handling.meta

I was just wondering if maybe the edit was in the wrong location.

Can you link the car? I can also message Albo and see if I can get a response for you.

@Kal74

The vehicles work Perfectly fine running the Rebel handling line (Original) from update.rpf's handling.meta, However I can take that same handling line and copy it to Albo's handling.meta at Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\MODDING\dlc.rpf\common\data\handling.meta.  You have to rename it so that it isn't a replacement, And the game will boot and run fine as long as you do not spawn the vehicle its being used with. The second you spawn the vehicle, the game will crash.

Basically if I add any handling's to the modding dlc, the game will crash only when loading the vehicle specifically, (they dont spawn naturally) other than that the game will run fine, provided that vehicle is not on the map.

It will also crash if i try to use a handling line from another dlc, for ex the mpchristmas2017 dlc. (Doomsday.) As long as I am using a handling from

Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\handling.meta
The vehicles work fine. However I cannot add any new lines to that file either or that will crash on load.

Raptor + Update.rpf handling line = working

Raptor + RockstarDLC Handling Line = Crash when vehicle is spawned.
Raptor + Modding Handling Line = Crash when vehicle is spawned
Raptor + Update.rpf with added standalone handling = Game Crash on load. So I assume you cannot add handling lines to this file, only edit exsisting.

The only way I haven't tried is adding the handling to the mpchristmas2017 handling.meta and see if that works.

This is one of the Raptors

And this is the other.

What do we have to do with the game config now that a new GTAV update has posted?

apologies if this has been covered but i wanted to confirm if I use say police 3 for a replacement car but i needed to change some stuff in the handling and vehicles meta would i just amend the existing one in the update.rpf or add the new entries into this mod?

What i wish to clarify is will the game crash having two entries the same of police 3 in the mod?

If your using the normal game slots (police3 is) you would amend the update.rpf one. If you are making it a standalone add-on (with its own names) you would use the mod one.

I've been modding games for a god damn decade. I've followed the tutorial videos, and the car spawns, sounds work, lights, etc. But textures do not work. I've tried 3 different models.. am I doing something wrong?

What are your models?  Are you renaming the textures in the .ytd?

I had an issue where if I deleted the original textures and added new textures and then renamed them exactly as they should be named they wouldn't work, but if I just replaced the textures that were already in the file they worked great.

I've tried several FPIU models. And no, I'm just importing the ytd/ytfs. The cars load, sounds work, lights work, textures are just effed up. Its showing all sorts of textures, on a green looking base texture.

You need to install a new gameconfig after every update. Check the manual, albo explains what to do after gta has updated. Good luck!

It’s no big deal. Just google for it. Make sure it’s made for your game version and install it. You can do it in 5 minutes man 😁

Where are you installing these cars?  For Police3 slot or for add-on?

That green texture you are seeing is basically no texture.  It can't find one.

If you look at the vehicle model in OpenIV is the texture showing up properly there or are you also seeing the lack of a proper texture?

First off I do like this a lot because it gives me the ability that even a dumb duck like me gets more police cars in the game as there initial slots are but one little problem is there ....

the cars that I added so far ( only three ) work just fine followed by the guide but they did not have there own vehicle.meta so that was pretty straight forward.

Now I have one with its own vehicle.meta ... so what did I do

-  renamed the file from police4 to police11 and added them there : Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\MODDING\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles\vehicles.rpf\

- renamed the els xml file to police11 and placed it in the els folder

- added within the "modding folder" the carvariations.meta and named that one police11 here : Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\MODDING\dlc.rpf\common\data

- took the vehicle supplied vehicles.meta (changed 1,2 and 4 to police11 and left 3 as it was and added the audio hash) here : Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\MODDING\dlc.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5   but the game crashed just before it is fished with loading ......

- after reading the guide again I realized that it had to go here : Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data\levels\gta5\vehicles.meta   so no more crash but

after using the trainer the game says "vehicle spawned" but there is no vehicle .....

can someone give me a hint where I am wrong? Thanks

That gameconfig was last updated feb 18 so I don’t think it works with the latest game version.
