NOTICE: Custom Backup will not be updated for LSPDFR 0.4. The main features, including region customization and weapon selection, have been added to the built-in LSPDFR backup customization files. 

 

 

Custom backup gives you a new level of control in LSPDFR. The key feature of this mod is regionally customized backup, allowing you to set a different response for any area on the map. For any named area of the game (like "Rockford Hills", "Los Santos International Airport", "Sandy Shores", etc.) you can completely customize every level of response just like the built-in backup.xml. The syntax of the CustomBackup.xml file is very similar to the built-in backup.xml, but has numerous additions to increase your control over the game: 

  • Set a chance for anything! Peds, vehicles, and vehiclesets now all take a chance attribute which controls how likely they are to be chosen. (The built-in backup.xml only lets you set a chance on peds.)
  • Configure vehicle extras, liveries, and colors! You can now set any color you want for any response vehicle, opening up a whole new level of customization for unmarked units. Vehicle extra configuration also works reliably, whereas it seems to have some issues in the built-in backup.xml. 
  • Cop weapon selection! Set a list of weapons to give your backup units, set the probability for each weapon, and decide whether you want them to pick one at random or always get the most powerful one. 
  • Set spawn distance range for each vehicle entry! Every vehicle entry can have a minimum and maximum spawn distance set. This allows for additional realism by making certain units spawn closer or further away. NOOSE SWAT probably isn't just hanging out around the corner, so make them drive in from a mile away. On top of Mt. Chiliad your backup will probably be coming from a long distance, but in Downtown there's probably local patrol units very near by. Your imagination is the limit for leveraging these settings. 
  • Code 2 response with lights! Let's be honest, how often do cops really respond "code 2" with no lights? You can now configure your Code 2 units to respond with lights (but no siren), or to respond with their lights off but turn them on once they arrive and park on scene. YouTube video demo.
  • Integration with Better EMS: Download and install Better EMS, and you can call for an advanced EMS response through the Custom Backup menu. 
  • Integration with Police Smart Radio: Call for backup from your radio! Call Code 2 or Code 3 local backup, or Pursuit and Air Support units.

 

Installation instructions are included in the download. Basic installation is pretty easy; just make sure to choose a CustomBackup.xml file to use and put it in place. Advanced usage of the CustomBackup.xml file is explained in great detail in the documentation PDF. 

INSTRUCTIONS TO OVERRIDE DEFAULT LSPDFR BACKUP MENU:

To completely disable the built-in LSPDFR backup menu and use the custom menu instead, follow these instructions.

  • Edit CustomBackupLocations.ini. Set these settings:
    • CustomBackupMenuKey=B
    • CustomBackupModifier=None
    • OverrideLSPDFRBackup=false
  • Go to the GTA V settings menu 
  • Under Keybindings, go to GTA Online section
  • Change "Look At" from B to something you don't use, like the numpad period

Ok I just went to test out the custom backup menu, the menu still doesnt work. It only shows up with the regular lspdfr backup menu

Try going to the settings menu and change the multiplayer "point at"key to something you don't use. It is normally set to b by default. That worked for me. That will disable the default backup menu if you use a keyboard and mouse. It will not work if you use a controller

I did that actually, except I removed the button by going to the key bindings and changing it to a random button, then go to Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/Profiles/*******/Control/user and switch that button to KEY_NONE, so its not binded to anything which is sweet for people who dont want that shitty cinematic camera

 

I got it working for a few days, then suddenly it just didnt work.

I love this mod! But, could you by chance add a hotkey to call a certian unit in the ml files?

You want to be able to configure a hotkey to call in a specific unit, so you don't have to go through the menu?

Yeah, I'm sure it would be very useful. Especially if someone wants to have their custom unit as sort of a panic button.

Love this and the EMS plugin man they are exceptional. Any chance in future updates you could add a line in the ini that includes the version number? would make checking to see if updating is needed much easier :)

I will eventually add an auto-update-check. Users may not always replace their INI file, so that's not a reliable way to keep track. However, if you right-click on the DLL file and choose properties, the version number will be shown in the list.

Brilliant mod! Two suggestions: Would it be possible to have an option to set car invincibility and dirt level? Then it would be nice if you could make the same response settings for Code 2&3 like in your Better EMS Mod - NearSceneDriveSpeed etc. Maybe it could help ai arrive more carefully, not smashing into everything... Just a suggestions, the mod is already great!

I could certainly consider adding support for slowing down near the scene. Invincibility and dirt level I could probably add too, you thinking just a flag in the XML definition, like <Vehicle invincible="true" dirt="4">police</Vehicle>?

The dirt thing would be nice to add. 

Also I'm having issues adding a hat to the sheriff ped. I want him to respond always with a hat on, I added props_head=''1''. Am I doing it right?

I could certainly consider adding support for slowing down near the scene. Invincibility and dirt level I could probably add too, you thinking just a flag in the XML definition, like <Vehicle invincible="true" dirt="4">police</Vehicle>?

Set the dismiss time to 0 so they wont leave, but they still leave, pretty quickly too. Here's my .ini

No it doesn't, it works fine with RPH 0.40. No need to keep pestering every single plugin author about this for all their mods. We know. Give it a rest.

I just wanted to start out by saying i love your mod it adds great customization to the backup. The EMS feature is great too I've always found EMS backup to be lacking. Only thing I'm having a issue with is, when starting LSPDFR by using forceduty in ragehook a flag comes up saying there is a dependency missing. I would assume that's coming from lspdfr due to this mod suppressing their backup.xml. If that's the case should i just ignore it? Or is there a work around to not have that warning come up? I never had that dependency missing message prior to installing the custom backup mod, even with the new EMS mod installed.

That's just because it's expecting RPH 0.39 but you probably have 0.40 installed. It'll be fixed in the next release, in the meantime, nothing to worry about

That is true, I am running 0.40 sounds good then there is another thing that comes up seemingly related to this but it doesn't affect gameplay. When i log out of the game it says GTA5 has crashed, yet I shut it down properly. Nothing big to worry about just figured it's worth mentioning as part of the bug I had previously asked about.
