Emergency Lighting System 1.05

(234 reviews)

3 Screenshots

Emergency Lighting System V brings one of the most popular modifications ever created for a GTA title (ELS-IV) to Grand Theft Auto V. ELS-V will add a whole new dimension to  your patrols. With a fresh look and many more features than its predecessor, it's also sure to brighten up your game and satisfy the emergency lighting enthusiast in anyone.

DESCRIPTION
− ELS provides an alternate and incredibly in-depth way of controlling emergency vehicle lights and sounds.
− ELS requires vehicle models specifically designed to make use of its features.
− ELS includes over 200 unique lighting patterns scattered across 4 light groups and lighting formats.

NOTES
Please consult the ELS USER GUIDE and other provided documentation prior to using ELS.

− As of V1.00 ELS is not compatible with any form of multiplayer.
− A visual enhancement mod is recommended to improve the appearance of ELS lights in game.

BASIC INSTALLATION
− A GTAV ScriptHook must be installed for any .asi modification to work. The original may be found HERE.
− Using script modifications in GTA Online can result in a temporary or permanent ban from the service.

− 1. Place ELS.asi, ELS.ini, the ELS folder, and  AdvancedHookV.dll inside your main GTA V game directory.
− 2. Download and install (a) pro-ELS vehicle model(s).
− 3. Start your game.

CREDITS
− ELS is coded by Lt.Caine.

− AdvancedHookV and vehicle damage feature coded by LMS.
− ELS-V testing team (alphabetical order): Albo1125, BxBugs123, GravelRoadCop, PoliceWag, and Prophet.

What's New in Version 1.05

Released

  • Removed auto deletion of discarded ELS vehicles to prevent crashes when using certain LSPDFR plugins.
  • Removed ELS manipulation of AI vehicles as persistent/not persistent for same reason.
  • Removed strobe corona flash sounds (while retaining sound effects for halogen patterns).
  • Toggling the ELS information panel will now reload everything in the ELS.ini.
  • Fixed error in ELS User Guide that incorrectly associated SCNL with extra_11 and TKDL with extra_12 (the opposite is true).
  • Updated ELS User Guide to reflect new changes.
  • ELS.ini change: Added "AllowController" option to CONTROL section to allow enabling/disabling controller input for ELS.
  • ELS.ini change: Added "TogKeysLock" option to CONTROL section to allow changing ELS key lock button.

Please download the AdvancedHookV fix if you are using game build 3258.

How do I set it up if I want to use other siren audio files for some police cars? For example, I want the police car to use the police siren dedicated to the police car, and the fire truck uses the police siren dedicated to the fire truck, but the sirens of all emergency vehicles equipped with ELS xml are the same. How can I change it?But the sirens of all emergency vehicles equipped with ELS xml are the same. How can I change it?

Crazy question, one that I'm sure has been asked somewhere in these 65 pages of comments, but how (if possible) can I get the environmental lighting (y'know, lighting around the vehicle, on buildings, etc.) to show up in Rockstar Editor? Every time I've ever used Rockstar editor with ELS vehicles, the lighting shows only on vehicles. Thanks, in advance.

Well...  It depends on which slot your sirens are saved to. If you haven't changed out which siren does what (almost nobody does) then it's relatively simple. The tough part is explaining it, so I'll simplify as best I can, by simply naming what the siren slot does so that you know which ones you want each vehicle to use (if any, for Prisoner Transport Vans I always turn all of it off).

ManTone1 = Wail (Manual)

ManTone2 = Yelp (Manual)

SrnTone1 = Wail (This is your main Police Siren)

SrnTone2 = Yelp

SrnTone3 = PhaserSrnToA

SrnTone4 = Phaser2? (This is typically the one I swap out to be an Ambulance Siren)

AuxSiren = DualTones, combines Wail with whichever tone is currently activated

If you wanted to force your Ambulance to use only the siren in your AmbulanceWarning slot, you'd do the following...

<ManTone1 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_AMBULANCE_WARNING" /> (by doing this you've changed which siren is the main Wail siren for that vehicle)

<ManTone2 AllowUse="false" The audio strings for the rest of these can remain as default, no need to change them if they're set to "false".

<SrnTone1 AllowUse="false"

<SrnTone2 AllowUse="false"

<SrnTone3 AllowUse="false"

<SrnTone4 AllowUse="false"

If you do this, remember to change the following in your Police (sheriff etc.) xml files.

<SrnTone4 AllowUse="false" (change this to false so that your police (or whatever) units aren't using your ambulance siren.

I haven't slept in almost two days, so I just realized this may be more confusing that it has to be lol. My apologies.

Thank you, but what should I do if I want the police car's siren to change to other sirens else? For example: ordinary police cars have their own sirens, and FIB's cars have their own sirens too. If I want the ordinary police car's siren to be a FIB siren, what should I do? I mean replacing SIREN_PA20A_WAIL with SIREN_FIRETRUCK_WAIL_01 instead of replacing another siren sound. I don't know if you understand what I mean?

I got you. Simply swap the following around, just as I showed earlier, but these are the names of the files you're looking for.

I tried it according to your method. The result is that the siren of that key has no sound. However, after I modify and save the xml file according to your way, it shows "The file contains unicode characters, when the file is saved as ANSI, there will be data loss." What does this mean? 😞

All right, wait! I... I don't know why the text copied directly from this official website will have this problem, and it is now solved.

Yeah for whatever reason, copying text from here will copy it as "Rich Text". Odd, but that's the way it is lol.

The lights on my ELS vehicles don't seem to work.

I have the right things installed (VCFs and all that, ELS cars of), shaders set to very high, yet no lights. The rear lights will "flicker" like they're supposed to, but the lightbars and all other lights don't do anything.

See this screenshot for how it looks with the ELS control panel: http://prntscr.com/mq2ey2

Now the lights can definitely show, I had a car where I forgot to copy the VCF file over, and on that car the lights were constantly on. So its not a "dim lights" issue or anything like that. Somehow the lights just don't work on the ELS enabled cars.

What could be causing this?

Well, for one I only have police vehicles installed (so all other cars are vanilla, for now anyways), no ReShade installed and no plugins other than LSPDFR and a callout (waiting for most to update). I also have a pretty beefy PC, i5-6600K and a GTX 1070 OC.

However for some reason those damn lights just won't work...

ELS does not require LSPDFR to work, so if you are having issues with ELS it is not because of LSPDFR. They use different ScriptHooks to modify the game even.

So does anyone have any idea as to why my ELS won't work with any cars? ELS itself is on, but the lights never come on no matter what LSTG I am in. I got the VCFs installed and shaders set to very high.

ELS works for me but when I siren blip to perform a traffic stop they floor it in a locked direction and I cannot perform the stop.  Anyone else running into this?

Having the exact same problem, have tried both versions of ELS and have done fresh re-installs with all vcfs and different car models but nothing seems to change, taillights flash but nothing else and some random lights stay permanently lit on a few models. Also using some of the most popular car packs, its so frustrating.

Edit: looked at my asiloader text doc in main directory and it states that "ELS.asi" failed to load. have also tried uninstalling the asi loader in open iv multiple times

OKAY SO POSTING MY SHAME JUST IN CASE SOMEONE IS AS STUPID AS ME.

from the forums I was reading everyone recommended re-installing scripthookv (I had done this multiple times).

relatively new to modding GTA however have come to grips with basically most forms of modding by now.

Stupid self is so used to extracting files directly to where their corresponding file names are in the main directory that I completely disregarded the fact that

script hook asi needs to go into your main directory not the bin folder it is presented in in the download file.

This is literally so dumb considering I literally re-installed all vehicle packs and vcf's thinking that must be the problem but overlooked the most basic thing.

Basically just check scripthookv is where it is supposed to be...

It is, but thank you for checking anyways.

FIXED THE PROBLEM!

It was on my end. Turns out I didn't have Visual C++ 2015. I had 2012, 2017 and a bunch of others, but not that one! And I couldn't install it as the 2017 version was blocking it. I uninstalled the 2017 versions (both x64 and x86) and then installed 2015, and then 2017. Restarted my PC, and now ELS works brilliantly!
