Charleszinkey's Realistic CHP Siren [ELS] 4.0

(5 reviews)

1 Screenshot

Hello all,

I have made a realistic, good quality CHP siren! (at least I hope so).
I was in desperate need for a decent one of these so I took matters into my own hands.
It was not easy finding the most perfect, highest quality tones, but I got there in the end.

Although Polecat's siren is good, once you become a hardcore CHP fan, you'll get irritated by it as it doesn't sound a lot like the real thing

DISCLAIMERS:
-These siren files are mine!!! I recorded them myself!!! I did not steal them from any existing CHP siren packs!!! (I have proof)
-This means that please, do NOT upload these files as your own!!!

-Siren tones in the demo videos have been adjusted to fit my game. The volume levels are correctly set for each file in regards to the slot they have been designated, but feel free to change the slot and volumes of the tones yourself to fit your needs

-Any errors or requests, please comment them down below.

Thank you,
Charleszinkey

What's New in Version 4.0

Released

This is my last ever update on this siren now (I hope🤞). After many updates I think I'm finally happy with it. You won't have noticed much but I, being a perfectionist, have tried to make it as close as to real life as possible, removing any minor hiccup in the loop of the tones. I've worked really hard on this for no apparent reason, so I hope you guys enjoy this as much as the amount of effort I've put in to making this accurate CHP siren.

If anyone wants to learn how to put multiple sirens in and have them work with ELS, for example the manual tone in this pack, I made a topic not to long ago explaining it, then here you go.

(edited)

I think I'm also having an issue with the sirens not working

When I go use my cars (tested with police and police4) it still doesn't replace the wail, though the yelp does get replaced

Here's what I did:

  • Create a new folder for this siren
  • Copy the vehicles folder and vehicles.oac file from the Modern Siren Pack into the folder
  • Drag and drop your files into the vehicles folder
  • Use OpenIV and import open formats to insert the new sounds

Ok, two questions, firstly, did you follow my installation instructions that I put in the file that I made for this? If not, I recommend following that. If you’ve tried well then here’s my next thing to try, try dragging and dropping all the files that are silent into your veh folder. That might be your issue. If not then I’m stuck because myself and most others don’t have this issue. I think someone had a similar issue in the comment thread earlier so try reading through that

Where do I put all the the desktop.ini files into? do I put them into the game files or

Also, when I yelp, the lights aren't all flashing at once, they are still doing the default light pattern

destop.ini files aren't mine, something creates them when you ZIP up the vehicles.awc file or upload them to this site. Most siren files you download will have a destop.ini in them and they should be ignored. You don't need to do anything with them. As for the flash patterns, thats your ELS VCF you need to sort out, not the siren files. Search up chp light patterns or something similar and you can choose someone else's VCF files to download to give you the flash pattern

I'm loving the Siren, but i got another question. Which Car Mod is the Explorer from the Demo-Video?

Those 4 are replaced with custom sirens. I placed your CHP siren on Siren_Quick_2/3/4 and Siren_Wail_2/3/4. My ELS VCF only recognizes Quick 3 and Wail 3. 2/4 revert back to my LAPD siren. I replaced those actual file names.

Not a fix to your problem but beware when you replace FBI slots (SIREN_QUICK_02,  SIREN_WAIL_02) as the sound will be slowed down ingame.
Generally, a speed increase of 15% with audacity will be close to the original speed.

Wish there was a way for these to work with the add-on of TheHurks CHP pack without it replacing your main siren. Great siren though.

its from here:

I have spent quite a bit of time modifying the vehicles (the lights, textures etc) to give it the best look though. Unfortunately I cant upload any of it due to copyright reasons, sorry

I have tried that and i've made it work for my ambulance, firetruck and motorcycle. No clue how to do it for add-ons, though. Refer to this topic for a more in depth explanation since i cba typing it all over again haha

Have you tried changing the ELS siren strings within the VCF file? I'm guessing you have as you've done it for your ambulance etc. You are using ELS vehicles right? I'm confused as to what the problem is as I use many add on vehicle packs in my game, all of which i can change and modify the siren for no problem

I tried adding your siren, renaming the files to CHP_Main.wav but when i import the vehicles folder + vehicles.oac back in, the files for some reason don't register with it.

Unfortunately you can't create your own sound files within the vehicles.oac, so you'd have to name the siren file as one of the default ones like SIREN_PA20A_WAIL or SIREN_WAIL_03 etc

But then they'd end up replacing my main sirens and i don't want that haha

Yeah ik its annoying sorry but theres nothing that can be done. Luckily California laws says emergency vehicles can only have two emergency tones (hence why CHP just has wail and yelp) so that means i use ALL available slots to have different sirens installed

Hi! How do I add Dead air to my vehicles folder? My vehicles.awc is above 16,000KB but I have no idea how to add the dead air to fix it.  Can someone screenshot the steps?

drag and drop the files straight into your vehicles folder, then re-add the vehicles.awc to openiv as normal. There might be instructions for this in the readme if you still aren't sure

Wow that explorer is nice! Is it a public mod? And the lighting pattern changes when you change the siren tone is amazing!

I love this siren. For some reason in game, the siren sounds a bit different. Almost as if it has a "deeper" tone to it. I currently have it assigned to "SIREN_WAIL_02 and SIREN_QUICK_02" My FBI, POLICE4, and POLICEOLD1&2 slots all are CHP vehicles. Also, your ford explorer you use in the video is spot on with the light patterns. Where did you get it from?

Thank you! The siren is deeper because of the slot you have it in. SIREN_WAIL/QUICK_02 are the fbi siren slots (the NOOSE vehicles). I suggest moving it to another slot (the default police siren slot, SIREN_WAIL/QUICK_03 etc etc). As for the vehicle, I downloaded the hurks 2017 cho pack and use the fpiu from that. I modified the els.xml fil and lighting textures to give it that look in the video. Unfortunately I deleted those files a long time ago so I couldn’t give you anymore than that sorry. Enjoy the game otherwise though!
