YOU NEED TO USE THESE SCRIPT HOOKS REPLACE YOURS

Known Bugs:
-Not really a bug but when your on the ground it spawns to your left.
-Also not really a bug but it spawns halfway in the ground when on a curved surface. No fix for this.


Changelog:
Whats new in v2:
-Texture added
-Spawns above ground more.
-Strip deploys perfect behind car
-No longer spawns with the road
-Spawns the direction your looking
-Code optamized


Whats new in v1:
-Script created

Installing
1. Put the SpikeStrip.dll and SpikeStrip.ini in the SCRIPS folder.
2. Open up the models then cdimages folder. Put the spike.img in the cdimages. It will be in the folder with weapons.img and vehicles.img. Should be similar to "Grand Theft Auto IV\pc\models\cdimages"
3.Next, open up common\data\.
4.Put "images.txt" in the data folder.



Usage
By default, Numpad3 deployes it and PageUp removes it.
I have a key list in the ini file. Its pretty self explaintory.


FAQ:
Q.Why can't I place 2 or more?
A. I don't have it set to for a reason, to many objects crashed the game in testing.

Q.Will the spikes go away?
A.Nope. I was testing the other day I started at the airport and flew back to the spawn on pparty mode. My friend ran over it and it still worked. So No it won't go away.

Q.Dude, it don't work. I tried it on my friends tires and he said they didnt pop!!!
A. Well, it won't pop it on actual players. It will look poped on your screen but it won't be poped for him.

Q.Can I drop them from a car?
A.Yep. It should work on all vehicles. It drops about 5 feet behind you.

Q.I am pressing the key I have set to deploy and nothings happening.
A.You still have a strip down. Press the key you have set to remove it.

More bugs:
If used on a hill, it spawns so far underground that it cannot be seen
Spawns facing north every time so cannot be used on roads facing east.
As stated in the OP, it tends to spawn slightly to low, meaning only the spikes are visible, it doesn't seem to work for me though.

This hills might not be possible. Since a rectangle can't go on a curved surface lol.

The spikestrip also faces this way -================ which means it doesn't touch the car, it needs rotating 90 degrees.

How is that going to burst the tyres on a car? It's facing completely the wrong way! It needs to be turned 90 degrees so that it is perpendicular to the road.

Well i think it is absolutely brilliant but the same bugs as Tom H i'm affraid
  • Only spawns one way (north)
  • sometimes spawns under ground and cant see it.....
How ever i love the fact it tells you what vehicle has gone over and the vehicle colour. good for when playing lcpdfr. So well done so far ;o)

not sure if you have any other map mods if you have dont just replace image file. open up the one provided with the spikemod
  • open it in notepad (or similar).
  • click on "edit" then "find".
  • search for the word spike and enter.
  • when located highlight that one line.
  • copy and paste it in the same place with the image file in your common/data
But again it is just i suggestion for you to try mate. ;o)

In the next release (probably tonight) rotation will be fixed . I appreciate all of your feed back.
Bugs expected to be fixed in next release:
-Rotation for some users
-Sometimes underground
