  1. Is the Lenco Bearcat more "mission built" for the law enforcement environment? Of course, but it comes with a steep price tag of upwards of $300,00 for a new one. Police agencies have been trying to balance budgets and do more with less for a long time, so that cost is impractical for most agencies. Law Enforcement agencies are able to get these MRAP's through the 1033 program at next to nothing. The MRAP's have been proven to be more then capable of doing the same missions. I'm sure this Florida agency also finds the height incredibly helpful for the flooding and the subsequent rescue efforts during tropical storms which frequent the area (something that it does better then the Lenco Bearcat).
  2. You'll need a version of 3ds Max (I don't know if the most current version is compatible with GIMS EVO, pretty sure they have older versions up) and you'll need GIMS EVO, OR you'll need Zmodeler 3 which has a trial then you'll need to purchase a license. I found this on a quick youtube search (uses 3ds Max & GIMS EVO)
  3. So the short answer is a 3d modeling program like Autodesk 3ds Max/ Maya, Zbrush (generally to make the high poly detailed model) or Blender (I prefer using 3ds Max). They offer free student versions w/valid email. BUT you really need a texture program as well. I personally use Adobe Photoshop, but I've seen more advanced programs on Youtube such as Substance Painter. Keep in mind many firearms have already been made for existing games, and can be extracted (along with the textures) and converted to GTA V (much easier then learning how to model and make your own textures for the model). You could even modify the firearm to meet the exact model you're looking for. If you're really interested in learning how to 3d model your own models search Google/Youtube for "weapon game asset workflow" or something similar. It'll give you an idea how to use the various programs, from setting up blueprints, to modeling, to UVW unwrapping, and creating the textures. Just a friendly warning, it takes many hours to even learn how to use the programs, and many more to actually produce quality content that can be used in the game. Good luck
  4. "Is baton-ing protesters to police brutality supposed to be heroic" What a foolish statement. First off the movie depicts angry, violent and destructive "rioters" not "protesters". Again let's make the distinction as it's very important to understanding the meaning of this video. Protesters can demonstrate with anger, but do so without being destructive or violent. The right to protest is a backbone of democracy. The video isn't making a case to silence peaceful protesters. The video clearly makes that distinction and shows violent, destructive rioters who are about to assault police officers. The focal point is on the officer in front (although he doesn't stand alone). He makes ready for a crowd of violent criminals about to assault him and the rest of the men and women that hold the line. Is standing up for right and wrong, for law and justice, in the face of angry violent criminals who outnumber you "heroic"? I'd argue that without these brave men and women who "hold the line" our society would have much higher levels of violence and crime. Can a society function without "law and order"? A society based on anarchy has never stood the test of time. No one is calling for the police to be "idolized", but that doesn't mean we can't show honor and respect for a profession dedicated to preserving law and order, and defending the freedoms we take for granted. We can do this, while also calling for police accountability when police misconduct is uncovered. So much here is said out of pure ignorance. It's sad really, but such is the psychology of human beings. In today's culture everyone has an opinion, much of it I've witnessed born out sheer and willful ignorance. So much of our opinions are based on what we see online, what's fed to us through the news, maybe a few bad encounters with police or stories we hear from a friend, or a friend of a friend. From this I see people make generalizations. "The police are inherently corrupt", "Police Officers get away with brutality all the time", etc. I wonder how many of you reading this, who have a fairly negative view of the police, actually know police officers. No not an acquaintance, but someone who you talk to on a regular basis. I highly doubt anyone here does. I've seen this video make it's rounds around real LEO's and no one said it was "cringy", in fact I've never heard them the term "cringy", it's not really vocabulary used in real LEO circles. I think that's more of a keyboard warrior term personally. All feedback I've seen, from veterans, from LEO's has all been positive. Do exceptions out there exist? Probably. LEO's are real people and people can differ. We're not all cut out of the same mold. I've met hundreds and hundreds of men and women in uniform from all across the US. I've served with them, answered calls with them, had beers with them. They come from all walks of life. All races, religions, sexual orientations, from all kinds of political positions of the spectrum. Those that came from poor communities and those that have never known poverty. Some are close friends, others just acquaintances, but I can attest to the fact that these are some of the nicest, courageous, most genuine human beings I've ever met. They're coaches, they're volunteers in our communities. This MSM narrative that police officers don't care about their communities, that they're just out there "to get the working man", it's all fiction. It sells ads, brings in revenue for this news outlets. Will you find an exception to this? Absolutely, I'm sure there are officers that fit the narrative to a "T", but from my experience I haven't met many and I've met a LOT of police officers in my career. These brave men and women sacrifice their family life, missing celebrations, missing important life moments, to serve their communities and keep everyone safe. If you don't want to stand and hold the line, don't. It's a difficult, nigh impossible job and not for most people, but please don't stigmatize a profession you clearly don't know much about.
  5. *Sigh* I forget the average age of users on here, who have no real life experiences outside of their bubbles. You confuse "Blind support" with patriotism. Yes, there is a huge difference between the two. Having an opinion is "unamerican"? That's complete nonsense and couldn't be further from the truth, nor did I imply it. My comment about US Antifa was directed towards their blind anger/violence, hate and general anti-authority/anti-police ideology towards those that don't mirror their own world view, whether it's conservatives or Government authorities like the police. "You don't believe what we believe? Then you're a nazi , a fascist, etc. and must be suppressed (even if this means by physical violence)". It's this destructive, narrow minded, censoring viewpoint that's destroying the US and free speech, not the Government (presently). Is the Government perfect? Far from it. Does that mean you can't serve your country in uniform whether in the military or law enforcement serving your community with pride? Of course not. There's a HUGE difference between 'peaceful and lawful protest' which is protected by our Constitution and a violent demonstration where people are violently assaulting people and burning/destroying private/public property (hint: which is what the video depicted....). Look you can support police officers as a whole, while also calling for accountability and improvements within the system (ie; improved training for officers encountering individuals with mental disabilities). We have to distinguish between officers who make mistakes and officers who willingly violate the law. I think it was the former Milwaukee County Sheriff John Clarke who said that he doesn't ask his officers for perfection, but excellence. It's a great point. There's this "perfection" standard you see in the media and from keyboard warriors who've never walked in our shoes who want to Monday morning quarterback the decisions that took seconds to make in real time. Can we learn from our mistakes and improve training and policy? Absolutely! However I think it's incredibly harmful to make generalizations about the police as a whole (ie; they target minorities, poor people, etc.). In 2008 there were around 765,000 sworn police officers (probably higher now). Now if you think of the millions, yes millions of interactions without issue on a daily basis, you'd see that police corruption and injustice is actually quite low. Does it happen? Of course it does, and it's up to our Criminal Justice system to discipline accordingly. The system is definitely not perfect, just look at that PA guy recently who murdered a police officer investigating a domestic violence incident that involved the suspect. A jury let that guy get away with murder. Is that justice? No. So, I'd definitely agree that there are things we need to improve in our Criminal Justice system. I do believe that the presence of cameras has helped bring transparency, both protecting the police officers and also highlighting officer misconduct. Lastly, NO the US isn't a fascist nation, this is a leftist myth that seems to be trending right now. I think you need to look closer at the definition of fascism, not the SJW one trending on the internet and I would suggest you look at the history of fascist nations. Again, I think you miss the whole point of core values that drive those of us that serve in uniform. Things like integrity, honor, courage, community, and selfless sacrifice. This is what the video depicted. Extreme patriotism, not "blind support", there is a difference.......
  6. *Face palm* "Cringe" Seriously? Did you watch the entire video? And your whole take away was a "Police Officer excitedly waits to beat a crowd of protesters"? You miss the entire focus of the commercial. I think you miss the whole point of core values that drive those of us that serve in uniform. Things like integrity, honor, courage, community, and selfless sacrifice. Your comment reminds me of the something the US antifa movement would say here....

  8. So I came across this gem today. For anyone curious what their state law enforcement agency is carrying this list was posted by Massad Ayoob compiled by his friend Mike Wood. Keep in mind some agencies might be in the process of transitioning to another handgun and the list will always be updating (no I'm not going to keep this list updated). I just thought I'd post it for people interested in this type of thing. Alabama Glock 22/23 (.40 S&W) Alaska Glock 22/23 (.40 S&W) Arizona FNH FNS (.40 S&W) Arkansas Glock 21SF (State Police), Glock 22 (S.P. Highway Patrol) (.45 ACP, .40 S&W) California S&W M&P (.40 S&W) Colorado S&W M&P (.40 S&W) Connecticut Sig P220 (.45 ACP) Delaware Sig P229 (.357Sig) Florida Glock 37 (.45 GAP) Georgia Glock 37 (.45 GAP) Hawaii (DPS) Sig P320 (9mm) Idaho Glock 21 (.45 ACP) or Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Illinois Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Indiana Sig P227 (.45 ACP) Iowa S&W M&P (.40 S&W) Kansas Glock 21 (.45 ACP) Kentucky Glock 35 (.40 S&W) Lousiana Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Maine HK USP (.45 ACP) Maryland Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Massachusetts S&W M&P (.45 ACP) Michigan Glock 17 (9mm) Minnesota Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Mississippi Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Missouri Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Montana Sig P229 (.357Sig) Nebraska Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Nevada Sig P229 (.40 S&W) New Hampshire S&W M&P (.45 ACP) New Jersey Glock 19 (9mm) New Mexico S&W M&P (.357 Sig) New York Glock 37 (.45 GAP) North Carolina Sig P226(.357 Sig) North Dakota Sig P320 (9mm) Ohio Sig P229/P226 (.40 S&W) Oklahoma Sig P320 (9mm) Oregon S&W M&P (.40 S&W) Pennsylvania Sig Sauer P227 (.45 ACP) Rhode Island Sig P229 (.357Sig) South Carolina Glock 37 (.45 GAP) South Dakota Sig P229 (.357 Sig) Tennessee Glock 31 (.357Sig) Texas S&W M&P (9mm) (currently having problems–under review) Utah Glock 22 (.40 S&W) (with approved options in 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP) Vermont S&W M&P (.40 S&W) Virginia Sig P229RDAK (.357Sig) Washington S&W M&P (.40 S&W) West Virginia S&W 4566TSW (.45 ACP) Wisconsin Glock 22 (.40 S&W) Wyoming Glock 35 (.40 S&W) Massad Ayoob - To update the list, I believe Georgia has gone from the Glock 37 in .45 GAP to the Glock 17 in 9mm with Speer 124 grain +P 9mm ammo, and word is that South Carolina is also switching from the G37 to the G17. Texas troopers I talked with told me they were less than thrilled with the idea of going down from their powerful .357 SIGs to 9mm (in the SIG P320 version, not the S&W after all apparently). 9mm is the least powerful handgun US police are generally allowed to wear in uniform , and Texas troopers I’ve talked with are clinging to their .357 SIG P226 pistols for so long as they’ll be allowed. 9. Always encouraged to see new modelers to GTA, welcome! 3d Modeling can be a lot of fun. It can be incredibly rewarding creating original content for the GTA world. With that being said, a little constructive criticism modeler to modeler (don't worry I'll be gentle). A mistake I commonly see new modelers make, myself included, is using meshsmooth or turbosmooth. It can really make your models look great, but it adds a lot of unnecessary geometry to a model (which for video games is a bad thing). From my experience setting proper smoothing groups instead is a better option. Simple geometry paired with a good texture can look just as good in game. An advanced technique is baking the detail from a high poly model into a low poly model, you can search Youtube for detailed tutorials if you're interested in learning more. Another helpful tip would be to add triangles to your scene information (since the game converts to triangles), it's a good thing to keep track of when you model. You can do this by clicking the "+" symbol in the upper left hand corner of your viewing window, select "Configure Viewports...", click on "Statistics and check the "Triangle Count" box and I also check the "Total+Selection" box. This helps a lot with keeping track of how much geometry your selected model has and also keeps track of the rest of your scene (for when your outfitting a vehicle or modeling a complete vehicle). Keep striving to learn more and grow as a modeler and you'll be surprised by what you can build. It's all up to you how far you want to take it, good luck!

  13. A newer, more accurate model is in the works.....
  14. It looks like you're trying to map a oval shaped badge texture (LAPD) to a 7-point star style badge (CHP). The shapes are too different from each other to look correct. You'll probably have to wait for OpenIV/GIMS to add the correct badge, unless you can change out the ped torso like you could in GTA IV without going through a complete conversion (I haven't been following the GTA V scene close enough to be a useful resource). If the latter is possible it might still look wrong if the meshes don't align properly (since they're designed for another ped).
  15. Well to answer your question; there are several police motorcycle projects in the works, but it takes a LOT of time from start to finish, so give it some time. As far as the BRP Spyder, keep in mind MOST people don't have the skills to model a complete model like that. Based on the photos I would say it's an interesting and very unique project, but keep in mind that a 3d modeler prefers to see blueprints showing TOP/SIDES/FRONT/REAR and even a Bottom view being ideal. Take a look at 'The-Blueprints" website to see exactly what I'm referring to for modeling blueprints. Reference photos are great to have to see all the details and everything that isn't shown in blueprints, but to get the general shape and scale blueprints are ideal. So for anyone reading this it's best to include complete blueprints when making 'suggestions/requests'. Just my .02.
