    You'll have to rename them so that each file has a different name.
    Then, in the material for each different one, you'll have to change the emerglights_emis texture to the renamed version of it.

    Don't be fooled by the Massachusetts "Assault Weapons Ban"
    It only bans Fully Automatic rifles with 3 or more "Assault Features" such as a Pistol grip, scope, etc.
    It also bans the use of collapsible stocks, flash hiders, silencers, and a few other things.
    And of course, no Massachusetts resident with the exception of Law Enforcement are allowed to own any new magazine deemed "High Capacity" which is 11 rounds or more. If your high capacity magazine was produced before a certain cut off date (somewhere in 1994 i think), then it is perfectly legal. There are tons of pre-ban 30 rd STANAG magazines kicking around Massachusetts. Same thing goes with pre-ban rifles. They can have more than 2 assault features.

    That being said, Semi-Automatic rifles such as the Smith and Wesson M&P Sport 15 are completely legal in Massachusetts. I can go down to the store right now and purchase an AR15 for around $800. I just can't put more than 2 "assault features" on the rifle. Because they all generally come with a pistol grip, that only leaves me 1 slot for something extra.

    So yes, there are plenty of Semi Automatic, 30rnd rifles out there. Not to mention just because a MA resident may not be able to get a gun, doesn't mean someone who is already planning to break the law by going on a shooting spree, won't go buy one just across the border illegally.

    Most AR15s issued to Police Departments are Fully Automatic, but only time will tell what they will be issued.

    As a Massachusetts resident, i definitely want the BPD to have ARs. They're not going to hand them out to just any officer, only those who have been properly trained and certified will be able to use them. Even then, they will most likely be rifles that stay in the trunk or the front seat. They aren't going to be conducting traffic stops with them. The BPD wants these rifles to be available to select officers when they need them.

    Police officers in general are already out-gunned. Just look at the two officers who stopped a car because it had a broken tail light. The guy gets out of his car with an AK and fires 33 rounds at them. Luckily they survived.

    I agree with you.
    I never said the MSP were perfect. I only said that they are highly respected. The departed was a remake of a hong kong film, it's not based on a true story.
    There are bad eggs in every bunch, and i know that.

    The North Hollywood Shootout is an excellent example. The police had to shoot these guys hundreds of times before they went down. They estimated over 650 rounds were fired in total just by the police.
    Luckily that day, no officers or civilians lost their life, but several were wounded. And yes, it could have been solved a lot quicker, and with less injury, with a Patrol rifle.

    Also, thank you for your service to the country.

    edit -
    I just did a quick google search to pull up an example, and this article is slightly amusing.

    that's a lot of Full Auto rifles.
    They apparently were going to make them Semi Automatic though.
    So I'm not sure which departments specifically, but i have seen articles about it before.

    Hey Guys,

    Normally i like to just use my gallery for previews of my works in progress, but i decided to create a video for this one.
    Basically, i'm working on another Vapid. (gasp, i know). Before you yell at me GAD'ing recently, i'm doing it because there's a serious lack of plain and simple Vapids with various lightbars. So yeah, i've been GADing some simple Vapids.

    So why the Vapid, and not the Crown Vic?
    No, it's not because the modding community is flooded with Crown Vics. I simply enjoy the Vapid more. I feel it fits into the game better.
    So anyways, I'll be doing a few more GAD vapids.

    I'm currently working on a Vapid with a Federal Signal Vista Arjent lightbar. I'm using KevinDV's glorious Arjent, and i've modified the ELS set up extensively on it.

    After i release the Arjent (hopefully this weekend), i'll be working on a Slicktop Version, then an FBI version.
    After that, i'm totally open to ideas. So if you have any Vapids that you would love to see, just let me know and i'll consider them.

    Now for the fun part!

    By posting this video, i want feedback. I would love to hear your opinions on the lightbar and how it's set up. Tell me something you like about the lightbar, and tell me something that you don't like. Please don't hesitate to provide suggestions.
    I myself am quite happy with it, i think it's fairly realistic to videos that i've watched on youtube of it, and if you guys tell me so, i'd be perfectly happy to release it as-is. (with the usual Rambar, No rambar, Hubcaps No Hubcaps deal).

    That being said, please try to avoid posting "That's stupid, just quit"
    Not that i expect to get that response, i hold you guys to a higher standard than that. I'm just throwing it in for good measure.

    Anyways, Thoughts, Comments and Suggestions please!

    Ceril got a reaction from Star-Cop669 in Picking a Laptop Capable of Running GTA IV Well...
    This is just a VERY quick look at picking graphics cards for laptops. This is just the absolute basic, "graphics cards for dummies" kind of thing.

    When picking a graphics card for laptops (and desktops as well), there is always a number involved.
    For example:
    Nvidia GeForce 650

    The number is quite simple to explain, it works like this.
    the 6 is the generation. With Nvidia, the higher the number, the newer the card.
    the 50 is the version within the year. The higher the number, the better the performance.
    Generally, performance has to do with the internal clock and all that good stuff.
    People tend to assume that the first number (the 6) is what defines the performance, but it's not. For example, an Nvidia GeForce 480 is better than a 550.

    The next thing you want to look at is the RAM the graphics card uses. The current best (as far as i'm aware) is known as GDDR5. 1GB GDDR5 ram should be enough for GTA IV, though i might recommend 2 just for security.

    Now, in terms of the sager notebook, when you do the quick look, you see the 2.40 Ghz.
    When you select the laptop, and before you purchase it, you get to customize what you get, everything about it.

    This means you can put in a better processor, larger HDD, different graphics processor (if available), etc.
    The Nvidia GTX 670MX with 3GB GDDR5 that comes standard with the Sager 17" NP9170 is definitely good enough for gta iv.

    here are the CPU options:
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache, 2.40GHz)
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3740QM Processor ( 6MB L3 Cache, 2.70GHz) [+$170.00]
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3840QM Processor ( 8MB L3 Cache, 2.80GHz) [+$355.00]
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3940XM Processor Extreme Edition ( 8MB L3 Cache, 3.0GHz ) [+$875.00]

    the i7-3740QM is definitely good enough for GTA IV.

    I definitely recommend that you simply walk through the process of customizing a sager notebook, i'm not sure what screen size you want, but they have 15.6" and 17", and a whole bunch of others.
    I think the 15" starts at 1099. When i was going through the process of customizing the one that i wanted, i think the end total was 1399, with a beefier processor and graphics processor.

    Hope this helps!

    If you have ELS installed, try disabling the AI using it. go into your ELS config and look for "Ai_ELS_SP = 1 // Toggles ELS on/off for AI in SP" and set it to 0. I used to have the same problem, and this fixed it.

    If you're using ELS, then you can find the colors in the els config file located in your GTA IV directory. If you scroll down there should be a place in the document set up like this:

    [ POLICE ]

    Active = 1
    Color_Light1L = 0
    Color_Light2L = 0
    Color_Light3R = 1
    Color_Light4R = 1
    Offst_SLights = 0

    the number is the color of the light, which corresponds to this chart (also at the bottom of els.ini):
    Red         0
    Blue        1
    White      2
    Amber     3
    Green      4

    The look of your file might vary slightly based on the version of ELS you're using.

    Hope this helps!

    Yes i realize i spelt screenshot wrong when i saved it in the file.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?2bramy6zkyhg28m

    If you want, i just found out how to make circles with more edges, so i can always remake the hubcap with sharper circles if you're not too fond of this one in game. (should be okay because it's pretty small in game, so it probably won't be that noticeable)

    Also, it'll have to be scaled down and rotated to face the proper direction. i set up the materials quickly, so you'll have to change them around to be correct. they should be:

    Mesh(tire)
    Texture
    Dirt
    Bumpmap
    Specular

    i just did texture, bumpmap, specular, and the auto sphere environment.
    I also didn't set up any of the user defined options. Let me know if you need to know how to set those

    There is a slight arch to those dishes, but that shouldn't be a problem at all. I'll get to work on them in the next hour or two.
    Yes, i fixed the tail light and turn signals on my car the other day :]
    I actually had them set to be both the turn signal and the reversinglight, but the turn signal was in front of the reversinglights, so you couldn't see them.

    For those of you unfamiliar with my current project, you can update yourself here:

    and to those of you joining me from the previously mentioned thread, here's a little update!

    As you can see, the wheel is coming along nicely :D
    i have pretty much the entire outside of the vehicle set up in terms of materials and mapping, with the exception of the dirt layers, which i'll be working on last. I'll be moving on to the materials and mapping of the interior of the vehicle after i wrap up all the holes in the model.
    If you look between the bodyshell and the chassis, you'll notice a nice big, fat hole right where the doors are supposed to meet the body. I'll be making surfaces for those holes next. I'll also be creating an inside surface for the Hood and Trunk. When opened, you can see through the other side. That's definitely something that i have to fix. There's also holes in the sides of the doors, in between the dashboard and the bodyshell, etc. Most of the model is just the inside and outside surface, which isn't good. All in all, this model should be done by christmas!

    I still need to set up the collision for the door windows, and i need to change materials over to IV. I'll need someone to map the UV for the parts of the car that are normally on the Police_Sign_1.png so that people can make textures for it, i'm pretty rubbish at it doing that kind of mapping.

    I'm running into a few issues, model is coming along great though.
    My biggest time consumer at the moment are a couple of holes in the model. Where the door meets the bodyshell, there is no surface. That means when you open the door, you can see through.. Working on making some surfaces today, coming along great.

    I'll contact CJ about getting that lightbar... It's absolutely sexy.

    edit:
    Taking a closer look at the model, there is a LOT of surfaces that will need to be created to make the model look more complete in game. Opening the hood, the engine will appear to float, there's holes when you open doors. It's quite a mess, but i should be able to clean it up.

    As for the hubcaps, they're pretty simple so i might be able to model them on my own.. not sure though, i'm going to do that last for sure.
