  1. Give it time, we'll likely have a lot of awesome new mods taking advantage of the API. I just downloaded two of the callout API mods and can't wait to try them out when I have time to sit down and play.
  2. Well, I've been using 1.0a with only a speed radar mod and a speedometer mod, and a plethora of modded cars (mostly under 3Mb model size), and it has been fairly stable for me. Other than that, I don't have that many issues with crashes.
  3. The Crown Vic was a neat car. Even recall seeing photos of an old early-mid 1990s era one that was fully decked out in OCSO paint that someone had out in Europe. Sadly, Ford seems to be not wanting to bring it back. It also affected the Mercury Grand Marquis, Mercury Marauder (I've seen a couple used as unmarked cars by the FHP) and Lincoln Town cars (VERY popular with Limo companies, even now), which all 4 were on the same platform. It certainly is a workhorse of the Ford Family. Unfortunately, I feel the current Ford PPV isn't as popular as some here think it is, at least not in Central Florida that is. Most departments here have opted for keeping their Crown Vics Going as long as they can (i.e. Orlando PD, Florida HP), While others, like UCF Police are using an Fleet Commander's nightmare involving a mix of new Caprices, Impalas, Crown Vics, and older impalas being replaced by Chargers. Then you have many departments that have bought Impalas not too long ago, and not planning to replace anything too soon yet. Elsewhere, it could be different, especially as I know some areas have gotten offers to trade in their older cruisers for them. Of course, like the 1990s era Caprice, I feel it would be unreasonable to see them bring it back. It's seen as too uneconomic to do so. Yeah, I know in some countries, Police Vehicles are typically scrapped right away when they end their service life. Here in the US though, they typically remove their markings and lights (some manage to get them off completely, some have their former life still very much obvious), then sell them for around $500-$2000 at a police auction. Crown Vics can fetch the higher value though, as the Taxi Companies really want to continue using them it appears. So you have demand from taxi operators, other CV fans, people who want a cheap car to donk and people who are just looking for a cheap ride. My dad loves to go to them to check out what the OCSO is selling, CVs pop up in there too apparently.
  4. I'm surprised this hasn't made it's way here yet, knowing how many Central Florida Locals we have on the board. Anyways, there was an OCSO deputy who was reporting on call of car break-ins in this upper-middle class neighborhood (some of you locals may know this as the gated community across the street from that giant Mormon Temple on Apopka-Vineland) early on Tuesday morning. Apparently, there was a foot chase after Deputy Pine tried to apprehend the suspect, who shot Deputy Pine dead in a back yard. The Orange County Fire Rescue tried to revive him, and took him to ORMC, but he could not be revived. Th suspect was found dead later after apparently shooting himself. The girlfriend of the suspect, who was with him at the time eventually got caught by the OCSO, and is facing burglary, robbery, and possibly soon murder charges too. The suspects were transients and had wants for them up in Baltimore, after not checking in with his Probation officer after being released from prison after robbing the same bank teller twice. http://www.wftv.com/news/news/breaking-news/orange-county-deputy-shot-investigating-suspicious/ndKbP/ http://www.wftv.com/news/news/local/fellow-deputies-neighbors-grief-stricken-after-ora/ndLFq/ http://www.foxbaltimore.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/baltimore-bank-robber-skips-town-shoots-deputy-fl-after-string-robberies-25427.shtml#.Uv4eX4U4Pm0 His funeral is on Saturday. http://www.wesh.com/news/central-florida/orange-county/funeral-for-orange-county-deputy-scott-pine-to-be-held-saturday/24441904 Very sad. I understand that the deputy also leaves behind a Wife and 3 kids too. There is also a fund set up for his family. I hear officers from all over the country, and possibly Canada too will be in attendance at his funeral.
  5. I'm not sure how it works in the UK, but churches are not legally bound, not even in California, where Homosexual unions are recognized. Usually when a same sex couples, or couples who do not believe in a religion, or do not wish to have the ceremony in a religious setting marry, they typically will do the ceremony at the in their city's courthouse. Of course, some churches will do the ceremony, even with their minister/priest/preacher, but it only comes down to if the religious official marrying the couple feels right with it.
  6. Another thing is as I said earlier. There are many versions of the bible out there, and a lot of them will flat out change the original meaning of the verse too, mostly to re-enforce the editor's socio-politically stance too. There is also the question of interpretation too. What it meant then, might have almost zero meaning what was being meant then. People tend to point out that the verses used against Homosexuality in Leviticus (18:22 especially), for example are either victims of a complete rewrite of a more modern edition, or taken out of context (most sources I read about Leviticus 18:22 tend to point out it has more to do with Temple Prostitution than two men getting it on.) It does tend to be a large problem with most text that is translated widely, especially when the sources are over thousands of years old. In the end, the beauty is that we all can believe what we want. My view from my first post in this thread is strictly within civil (government) point of view. If Marriage is a religious institution, as their "defenders" state, then I can't understand what business the state has in dabbling in it, especially in a country where the two concepts should be as separate as reasonably can be. I agree with what Nicolai said earlier, I feel that churches should be given freedom who they can and can't marry, and if the state does force them to do so, you can count me in with those who will be very far from impressed (especially as it breaks the 1st Amendment right there if you ask me.)
  7. I'm sorry, but your logical process is illogical, especially when you follow what I've said. See, that's exactly what I'm saying. A cat or dog is incapable of consenting from a legal standpoint. Do you know how to speak the language of cats or dogs fluently? If so, you've just made a huge breakthrough in communication science! And even then, since concepts like Dog years and such are more or less made up concept, law of age of consent still stands, and most of these animals don't live long enough to get to that point. Age of Consent follows the idea that the person is really old enough to make the decision for themselves. This is usually why in the US, you don't see very many state recognized marriages between seven year olds as well, as well as 13 year olds marrying men 3 or 4 times their age. So basically, if it involves two consenting adults. It doesn't bother me, and shouldn't bother anyone of logic really. Last I checked, that gay couple are considered by law to be capable of giving consent. A Dog or a person under the age of consent, not so much.
  8. I'm all for the decentralization of marriage (no state recognized marriage, period.) That way, those who choose when to be religious get to keep their precious "marriage", and those who want to live outside the means of what some book with far too many translations and interpretations can say they're married too! I love reading these slippery slopes. It will be hard to get the court to understand how the goat consents though. We also have the involving of age of consent. Forced marriages like that are sorta frowned upon in countries like the United States, and a sheer majority of EU states. So don't worry, if same-sex marriage is state-recognized, I can say with a probability of 1 that we will not see goats and infants being married to a lunatic, just simply due to what consent is defined.
  9. There is also one more other type of Police which is also almost rarely mentioned in the US, but if you know where to be (usually around RR Tracks or most larger Amtrak Stations) you'll see them. That would be Railroad Police officers. Most of them have their lines drawn around the trackage rights, and virtually every company has it's own agency and cars (even Amtrak outside the Northeast Corridor, for example, a famous case in Savannah when they Tresspassed the TSA Vipr team.) In this aspect, they are more or less federal officers as their jurisdiction I imagine would go beyond state lines because of how each railroad runs.
  10. That may have been the case before (though I never, ever heard that, and if it was true, it doesn't explain X-Plane or the DCS sims which simulate most everything that isn't classified), but I suppose manufactures of the craft that are being simulated realize that the community will figure out how to make their product behave realistically one way or another. I also mentioned PDMG add ons, which are fully licensed by Boeing and from what I understand, seem to cover most of the aircrafts' abilities and cockpit systems, and Project Tupolev, which as far as any Freeware goes, they likely make amongst the most detailed and realistic behaving aircraft I've ever seen (note, they made it quite clear that Tu-154B2s and Tu-154Ms don't start with CTRL+E IRL ). When it comes to these companies being protective these days, it usually comes more down to product licensing/royalties more than anything else from my own personal observation. Remember, even though MSFS's framework may not allow for the full scope out of the box to be done, there are always 3rd party add ons that will find ways to enhance the Sim's abilities. Run8 is also unique in that not only do they seem to realistically model the cabs of the locomotives and their functions, but even have some cabs that are specific to their railroad they were modeled for. I heard their recent SD40-2 pack had a Norfolk Southern SD40-2 with the cabs being done essentially in the setup that NS has it in. I guess railroads, airlines and manufactures and such are well aware that in not letting more realism in, that they're essentially throwing away a licnese for some in the community to make one (and of questionable quality sometimes) for free. You could say that they could go after the freeware devs (though in R8, it's unlikely as the devs are very anti-3rd party making, despite their roots in making stuff for MSTS), but we can only ask American Airlines on how well that ended when they started going after anything that used the AA name and logo about 15 years ago . Idk, I actually quite like Adam-12. Granted, they don't focus too much on the paperwork (since there is only so much you can fit in 24 minutes, but make it clear it's a big part of the job.) Of course, people want explosions and crashes more. That there would appeal to a major publisher, but as I said, every community has their niche sim, which unlike the big commercial sim for them is a whole 'nother planet.
  11. It sorta depends where you are too, mind you. Some towns out there still have Sheriffs, some counties have Police Departments. But usually it is more or less a game of jurisdictions, though they basically play the same role for the most part. Let's take Florida: Here in Florida, a Sheriff's dept. usually has Jurisdiction in the county that they're in (i.e. Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orange County,FL), and typically acts outside the City Limits of a City, though as mentioned, they're typically bailiffs in the Courthouse, which is usually in the City. Police Departments (not counting state police, which in some states also plays the role of the in most cases Highway Patrol) are usually limited to their City Limits. In some cases, both are usually allowed to cross into each other's jurisdiction, but it is often under rare circumstances. I know it wasn't asked about, but I did mention Highway Patrols. Their primary focus involves roads. The FHP for example has jurisdictions through pretty much all of Florida, even inside cities. Apart from enforcing all the driving laws, they are also responsible for filing reports about incidents (car crashes, struck pedestrian, etc.) that involve an automobile. A good example here is, let's say a Red Light Runner T-Bones another motorist on a street here in Orange Co. OCSO would usually be the first responders, and will usually be the ones blocking off the intersection to help the Fire dept. get to the scene. At the same time, the FHP will send a Trooper (their equivilent of an Officer or Deputy) to the scene to file the paper work and file any charges that need to be filed, as well as any citations. They do have the same power as a Police Officer or Sheriff, but their primary role and focus is enforcement of the highway code, with the local authorities (sherriff and police) responding to calls that do not directly involve a vehicle. Note that this function (and name) changes between states. Of course, PDs and SOs usually will too do some of the road law enforcement too and will conduct traps and traffic stops as well. This is more Florida Specific, it may change depending on the State. ~EDIT~ One last part, if you're not familiar with it, or didn't understand it earlier. Cities usually lie within counties, and counties are within states. Here is Florida as an example:
  12. I guess using another well known flight simulators as a comparisons can show how a sim can appeal to all, by being balls to the wall realistic, or sorta bending reality. Think of MSFS or the DCS sims. You can have your craft start up with a single button (note, it is rare for a plane to be that easy to start), or fly way past it's limits, or you can go balls to the wall and need to follow a procedure to actually have the plane work properly, which can take up to 30 minutes of your time to start, maybe more (in MSFS addons like PDMG aircraft, Project Tuploev Tu-154B2 are good examples). Not very many people will have the patience for this, and will rather opt for more simple stuff, but there are people willing to fork out their cash and time to learn them (and if you've seen the prices for PDMG, you know people will pay a lot, just for a single aircraft.) Run8, which is a Train Sim that deals around realism and MP is like that too! And mind you, in order to get the most out of MP in that, you need to invest at least 80 bucks from what I've been told by friends who use it.
  13. It would have a niche, like Flight Sims, Space Sims, Bus Driving Sims, Train Sims, etc. That I can say for sure. I mean, they even have Train Dispatcher sims, and that just involves looking at a map and lining up signals and track, and in a process which is akin to watching paint dry if in real time (I still find myself enjoying them. Run8 seems to combine the Train Sim and Dispatcher aspect there.) BUT, like the most popular sims (DCS, MSFS, Orbiter, etc.) It would need a difficulty slider on what to turn on/off as far as realism goes to be flexible with everyone, else people may get quickly bored and dissatisfied quickly.
  14. Well, let's remember, Pretty much every GTA for the PC was, and still isn't mod supported, essentially it was the community had to find a way to modify the game's behavior, be it a program like Spark IV (or equivalent) to install new models/textures. Of course, with now some modern games is, and considering how big the Online Aspect of GTAV is supposed to be, it could make one to question whether or not one will be able to change models (textures might be possible though). Of course, I'm fairly certain someone will make something that can at least run script mods, like GTA IV or the many little other things (like Turn signals). Of course, everything is up in the air, the only way we'll know is when it does come out. Until then, I guess we have a pretty neat mod on GTA IV that still has a lot of potential to have things added onto it.
  15. We'll have to know when it's out I suppose. But something that can run scripts will certainly be needed. Aside from that, chances could be that with the format that 1.0 was released in could enable this to be very far ahead. I recall hearing from someone around that's one of the reasons why it was done like it was. Since no one knows how different the formats of GTAV will be from IV, ti's hard to say when, and even if it'll be done. Of course, I have no issue here, and will be happy to see if it makes it to V, especially if V ends up being a far better, and stable version.

  17. Sorry for the double post, but it appears that I fixed it on my machine. It now logs me in again. Ok, here is what I think you guys should try, if you don't already. In your GTAIV main directory, there are two files in there, GTAIV.exe and LaunchGTAIV.exe. Right click on these and go to Properties. Then make sure the programs are running as Administrator (check the Compatibility tab). Make sure BOTH are doing this, otherwise, the game's will not run here. I haven't checked if it sends any stats, but it does appear to take care of the problems I have been having earlier, and a new LCPDFRLease file was created automatically with no crash that I can see yet. Of course, I only just loaded the game up, I haven't tried playing the mod yet, but checking the console that can be accessed via the "~" key, it is already a massive jump. Lemme know if this ends up working for you guys. Chances are for some reason, the permissions on our computers all of a sudden are not allowing LCPD:FR to communicate with the server.
  18. Anyways, Here are my last attempts. One or two of these sessions also crash as I put in the old LCPDFRLease to see if it'll let me have my stats up. This is pretty unusual and I hope someone may know how to let it start sending stats online again! The LCPDFR128 file is the old one when I took it out of my directory to help it behave. The problems with the CTD with LCPDFRLease inside it (which I still have in another folder) start around 20:56 in the towards the bottom. Hopefully someone can find out what is causing it, because the game has only stated to recently act up.
  19. This seems slimiar to the problem I've been having lately. Yesterday night I was trying to get on, and the game kept crashing upon loading and found that this was caused by LCPD:FR. This afternoon, I kept trying quick troubleshooting solutions and removed certain files and re-installed LCPDFR. I found that my problem that kept having me CTD quickly was a file called LCPDFRLease or something like that. When the file is in there, it CTD's me, but when I take it out, I can actually run LCPD:FR, but it shows up with the error you seem to be getting in there, that it "can't find a valid lease" and such, which wasn't a problem until yesterday I can say for sure, as it logged me in successfully the night before. I'll post my LCPDFR.log files regarding the problem as well. Good to see it isn't only me having the issue. Just wondering though, is this a recent issue for you guys. As in you've been able to play 1.0 without problems until recently? If so, looks like we're in the same boat. I do wonder if it has to do with the Live Wall coming back up too, I'm not sure when it came back up, but i noticed it running yesterday. To "bump" a topic means to add in a reply (usually with just the word "bump") to move your topic to the top of the discussion page just to keep it up there. You shouldn't do it, and will get you in trouble with the mods if you do bump a thread.
  20. As I said, knowing the community, we'll likely get a way to play MP one way or another if GTAIV MP indeed does go down as it is (since you need GFWL to actually play MP on the PC.)
  21. GFWL is getting phased out in the near future, that is true. The Big issue with GFWL going out will largely be that cannot play Multiplayer anymore if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure if R* doesn't find a workaround for that, the community likely will. I mean, it did after all make a whole new awesome game from a good game.
  22. I don't care what any of you guys say! He still owes our friends north of the 38th parallel a concert that they voted so hard for! Dark Humor aside; Most people here that seem upset he's out on bail are not upset that he is out on bail, but rather the amount was too low, especially considering all the offenses he committed on top of the DUI (people tend to get higher bail on far lesser offenses down here), and some folks have unanswered questions there too (like how he was able to rent a car, where/how he got his booze.) I know a lot of people talk about him being deported, which won't happen for sure, but if he were, I wonder if he'd actually be allowed back into Canada. This is the same country where and offense DUI can actually block your entry into Canada, and this kid already has a rap sheet literally spanning the whole globe! Anyways, I read the police report filed by the Police officer who did the arrest, I think they may need to fix it considering they mistakenly labeled his citizenship as "USA." It does bring up another question, on whether or not he lied to the officer or the officer had to come to that conclusion himself. That aside, It is an interesting read, and I guess can be used as material to study for those wondering how they can word a report when/if that capability comes to LCPD:FR. http://documents.latimes.com/justin-bieber-arrest-document/ Sadly, very few child stars get to live a normal adult life. Most end up going Run 8 into a sensationalist spiral that ends badly more often than good. The only guy I think came out ok might end up being the kid who played Young Anakin in Star Wars: Episode I, and that's because he pretty much left the acting scene pretty quickly after that (he didn't like the negative attention he received from his classmates if I remember the story correctly.)
  23. I find myself using 1.0 a lot, and enjoying it, even if some folks say it is heavier, I notice little if any difference in the performance on my machine. Only issue is still a little more prone to crashing (though much improved since the hotfix, but with how GTA IV is, the more you play it, the lower chance of it crashing gets, GTA IV sees new scripts like a new pair of shoes often, that it has to break them in until it is comfortable with them. So you'll have a lot of crashes at first with either one.) You will likely get the MMA10 "Out of memory" error upon exiting GTA IV a lot after using 1.0, even though in this is really not the case, but rather GTAIV not knowing what it is doing. Just though I'd throw that out. But, 0.95RC2 is better optimized at this point, albeit it is obsolete and not as refined IMO. If you have a decent vid card (even for standards from 3 years ago), like more than 4 gigs of ram, Windows 7 or 8 (which LCPDFR requires with the MS Dot Net Framework, which isn't made for older versions, like XP), and a good enough processor, I honestly think you'll find yourself ok with 1.0 to be honest. Also look at learning how to use commandline.txt for GTAIV. It is known to help a lot of people improve their framerate and lower the chances of a texture pop-in. I started using it about 2 weeks ago and quite honestly, have been having less issues with environment textures disappearing.
