navdata got a reaction from Jetty Bot in Pointless FeaturesAgain, all of the "unnecessary" stuff that you complained about this whole post CAN BE BYPASSED , what I don't understand is your incompetence in modding, the incapability in reading the wiki and the lack of effort all with a extremely high self entitlement. Again, LSPDFR is COMPLETELY FREE and it is not the development team's full time job. If you hate it so much, you can leave. Modding takes time and can be frustrating at times, if you aren't willing to spend any time or any effort, just shut up and roll with vanilla stuff. Also, just because your game crashed doesn't mean that it is caused by vanilla LSPDFR, it is VERY STABLE!

navdata reacted to Solidefiance in Fatal Police Shooting Sparks UnrestI'm not entirely sure what the United State laws are in their entirety, nor what each State law is vs. another (I'm Canadian), but isn't that sort of "protest" illegal? Isn't that obstruction or impeding traffic of some sort? They're literally stopping people who have actual Jobs from getting to them, all those Transport Trucks incapable of meeting their time quota and unable to drop off their goods at the given time. It may be "peaceful" by no violence (yet), but it's far from making a point or clear cut message, all it's doing is angering motorists, I know I'd be furious and could care less about an ignorant protest if it was keeping me from my job to put food on my family's table.
A couple years back, here in Canada we had the Native Americans protesting their "rights" I believe they were angry that the government were treating them the same as every other Canadian citizen and they thought they were some sort of special human being. They wanted to be exempted from having to pay any sort of Tax, so on and so fourth. They ended up blocking numerous highways, as well as Train tracks keeping passenger and cargo trains from going to their destination. The entire situation was rectified by a hefty fine and a few days in jail, the bigger the role of a given protester the bigger the fine and jail sentence. (a lot of the "chiefs" who led individual protest groups were handed months of jail time and fines).
What I don't get is a lot of the protests are far from peaceful, especially the Ferguson protests as an example. Protesters lighting cars and local businesses on fire, lighting houses and whatever else they can get their ignorant hate filled hands on fire. Why would you damage your own neighborhood? Damage businesses not even related to anything? Why would you put a family out on the street by burning their house down to further your agenda? It's sad, pathetic and ignorant in its most pure form.
I'm by no means racist, I'm all for equality - but if the black community thinks lighting their own neighborhood on fire, thinks blocking people from getting to their job is going to further their "rights" or agenda, they couldn't be any farther from the truth. I for one, don't have any sympathy for anyone protesting here whatsoever, nor anyone in the Ferguson protests, you lose all credibility when you burn your own neighborhood down and put people out on the street and keep those from just trying to make a living. Is this what is going to happen every time someone that happens to be black gets killed now? Burn a few things down, block traffic? Maybe they should change their chant from "Black Lives Matter" to No One Else Matters But Black Lives.

navdata reacted to John Longdraw in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?Hey guys, I've never actually commented on any LSPDFR thread, although I believe now is as important a time as ever since we're on the topic of negativity. I completely agree with everyone above's comments about how the negativity is just too harsh, and agree with what Sam said. If the devs of any mod were to give up whenever negative comments stack up, we wouldn't have any mods. I remember when LSPDFR .4 came out, the TERRIBLE criticism the devs got for updating it. I agree, LSPDFR .3 was working great, and when LSPDFR .4 came out it comparably had a few more problems. But I never complained or got mad, because without experimenting and taking the risk of trying, we wouldn't even have new mods or any updates for LSPDFR. Sometimes people will become so selfish that they forget the HUGE FAVOR the devs are doing for us. They don't have to do any of this and you could not have a single thing but the base game to play. But it's because of these peoples devotion and commitment that people like you and me can come home from work or whatever you do everyday and unwind and enjoy GTAV w/LSPDFR. That being said, I couldn't imagine pouring all my free time into something not only for myself but for others to enjoy. To have someone who's only been modding for a week give you a 1 star review and complain because they most likely don't know how to install the mod and now it doesn't work. That would be VERY discouraging. I just feel sorry for these guys. It was said above they work so hard, and all they ask for is appreciation. Instead of appreciation they just get criticism for things people believe should be done differently, or just because they likely have conflicting mods or a bad install and it doesn't work for them. Just a shame. To all those out there who spend their time working hard to ensure we all have a fun time playing GTAV, thank you. I, along with the large majority of others on here, greatly appreciate everything yall do, and your work is very valued. I honestly have been playing GTA since the 3d era, and I have never had as fun an experience with the game as I have playing LSPDFR. All of your hard work is VERY appreciated by almost everyone, it's just a few unappreciative bad apples who complain and ruin it for everyone. I also agree that people under a week, maybe even a month, should not be able to leave reviews because they just don't understand everything that goes into this, and don't realize the damage they're doing by posting the negativity. I'm sorry this turned into a book, but I feel it needed said. Again, thanks devs for everything you do to ensure we all have an enjoyable time playing LSPDFR, from Albo to Beojlio(might have spelled wrong) and others, you guys are truly a Great group of people who work hard to give us a more enjoyable experience. Just my 2 cents.

navdata reacted to Will in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed? The Essential category was created to be a central place to find mods that are, well, essential. ELS for example is required by most car mods, therefore it should be easier to find. EUP is pretty much required to have proper uniforms for your LSPDFR character. It isn't meant to be a section promoting popular mods, nor should the mods there need to be changed every few months.
Granted, the category needs to be updated and some mods should probably be removed and/or added, but we're not going to add mods there as a reward or incentive.
-
navdata reacted to Sam in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?I suspect that this might be an unpopular opinion and I understand why, but I actually disagree with this sentiment. I think it's a dangerous path to take if we make modding all about fame or rewards. Popular mods and their authors will naturally become well-known and well-liked. This is great, and it should certainly act as some motivation for people to get involved and put their work out there.
At the end of the day, though, becoming popular or famous isn't what a modding community should be about. People play game mods to have fun, and likewise people should make game mods because they think it's fun too. It might be a hobby, it might be a nice technical challenge, or it might just be something that they've always wanted to see in a game.
If we become too distracted by things like comments, reviews, likes and let ourselves forget about the genuine fun that games and modding can bring, then we have completely failed as a modding community and instead have become something far more superficial.
And before anyone accuses me of not being in the same boat, I am. Just look at any LSPDFR release topic and cast your eyes over the people screaming at us in capital letters.
I know that many people value Bejoljo's mods. I do too. But, that's not how things are going to work. If he feels that it's an appropriate response to criticism - fair or unfair - to remove all of his mods, thereby denying them to the hundreds of new people who discover LSPDFR each day, then that is his decision and we will respect it.
We won't, however, pander to it.

navdata reacted to Sam in Why was Ultimate Backup Removed?Be the change that you want to see. If you think there's something that you can do that people would like, then do it and share it.
That's exactly what StopThePed started off as - someone wanted to add more/different interactions with peds, so they did it.
Maybe people overthink about this. We make a mod. Other people make mods, and we make an effort to make both of these things compatible. It's why mods like StopThePed even exist in the first place. What's the fun in us trying to do everything ourselves when there are talented people out there, like you mention, who can make things too?
And to address the original topic, I think this whole situation is regrettable. There are many people in the GTA modding community who would do better to keep their negativity and overzealous criticism to themselves. There are others who would certainly do better not to take so seriously the words of a few internet trolls.
If we let ourselves be knocked down a step every time someone said something critical or bad about us, we'd have been stomped away into a different galaxy by now.
But we don't, we just keep doing our thing.

navdata got a reaction from OatesyHD in Performance IssuesI personally had a lot of texture loss with 0.4 and i already disabled preloading models and lowered graphics from ultra to high, and texture loss still happens. My PC is well capable of running gta in ultra with 60+ fps and i have no other lspdfr mods installed. I feel like texture loss happens after a car chase or shootout where the units were not deleted and were spread across the map which causes texture loss, and also theres a bug where AI cops have their siren running after police chase even tho the lights are off which seems to be impactful to performance

navdata got a reaction from PlayerLSPDFR in Why is the AI Cops combat ability shit?I actually tried that believe it or not, but the officers keep leaving the cover and aim a gun and then returning to their cover for no reason, they sometimes shoot a few rounds, but they don't magdump until they are on the ground, it took around 30 cops with weapons from pistol to rifle to shotgun to neutralize 4 armed suspects in a pursuit and 4 cops got killed. This is really how bad it is and I hope it can either be toned up a bit or have an option to adjust for us

navdata got a reaction from PlayerLSPDFR in Why is the AI Cops combat ability shit?So I recently noticed that the AI cops are kinda stupid when it comes to combat using guns, I saw this fourm https://gtaforums.com/topic/863681-why-is-ai-melee-such-sht/?tab=comments#comment-1068977879 and did the edits which made the suspect behave realistically, but the cops just dont shoot when they should and stand in cover, they only shoot more when they get hit and are on the ground. I called backups and they were just standing in the back not doing shit. Can this be fixed? @Sam

navdata reacted to verony28066 in Still waiting...First of all, im really disappointed that some big names have left and are selling thir mods behind a paywall ( damn muricans and their capitalism). I've always thought that people who make mods, do it in their free time because they like doing it. No one is forcing you... Now all of the sudden y'all are trying to make a living out of "modding". I understand that it takes hours, i've tried making car models myself and i understand that some very very high quality models are behind a paywall, but boycotting the site and deleting all your mods then making them behind a paywall is fucking dumb. Secondly, i dont know what part of "we cant control what happens outside of our site" you guys dont understand... Do you want Sam to take an ar and start hunting people who rip off mods? The only proposals i've seen from you completely go against the nature of lcpdfr.com... From all those years in this community, now you understand that uploading any file to this site makes them PUBLIC????? ANYONE can download that and the staff can do nothing about it. They arent the fbi, cia, interpol, kgb or whatever. If you want to make a living out of your mods, go for it. In conclusion, If you don't want your mods ripped off, go ahead and put them behind a paywall, enjoy making( what, 100 euro a month or smth?) from them. Uploading mods to this site makes them available to everyone and if someone wants to make harm, they will anyway. I advise forgetting all about this and bring back the pleasure of making mods becuase you like doing so and not because you are trying to make 40-50 euro per sale, cuz im sure there are less than 20 people here willing to pay so much fucking money for mods. I understand the hardwork but i think ive made myself clear. Lets bring back the positive vibes in this community. Peace out.
ps. about ezra tho.... never seen his "controversial" post, idk what to think ( so link it to me or send ss)

navdata reacted to zach016 in Still waiting...Man, this thread is a dumpster fire full of ridiculousness.
Having read through the majority of the comments, I have yet to see a single reasonable request of the staff of the website. I have no idea how people expect their work to be made public on any website, and also be protected from theft, etc. You're trying to impose an impossible task upon the staff, of which the only solutions are to not post the content, or to only allow a select list of pre-screened people to download the item (Which is a nonsensical solution for a website of this nature).
The staff hosting the content on your behalf, only makes them responsible in so far as whether the content breaches their own rules, or applicable laws. That's like expecting walmart to prevent people from renting the movies purchased at their store to other people, or from people taking their item purchased on sale from Walmart, and trying to return it for full price at Zellars. The site is a point of distribution, not a content management system on your behalf.
The effort required to circumvent additional security measures, such as requiring a membership, is so laughingly small compared to the effort to rip models/extract source code/etc., that it would only actually serve to hamper legitimate users. I also have no idea what the expectation of people is if they were to actually move to a different site to publicly release their model's. Public by nature means they will be accessible to the very people you wish to be protected from, as they are an unfortunate part of said public.
I also find it funny that content creators here are using the excuse "well, have you ever had your content stolen?", as if that provides any special perspective on the situation. Im in the opposite boat, in that I can't release any of my created content (only skins), because each one borrow's from someone else's work in some capacity, and i respect the author's wishes of the borrowed content. I don't need my content to be stolen, to have the perspective that having content stolen sucks.
Even banning a person becomes an iffy proposition, as different people can have the same username for different applications. Evidence only goes so far to say that a person named billy-joe-bob on discord (As an example) ripped the files, when the same billy-joe-bob on here could be from an entirely different country.
As to the way staff treated "the community", I didn't see the original thread, however this thread really isn't making me sympathize, as reasonableness is quite clearly not a requirement for entry.

navdata reacted to Ragnrok in Still waiting...Honestly, I dont know what happened, and I dont really care. You people are the undisputed queens of drama. The vast majority are completely incapable of simply communicating their issues in a civilized, intelligent manner, and certainly incapable of having any patience at all with a staff that does this entirely in their free time. I get people are upset over something, but going on a rant and attacking staff is simply not the answer. Grow up and have some patience.
-
navdata reacted to Sam in Still waiting...YouTube and Discord have other things to worry about.
-
navdata reacted to Sam in Still waiting...No, our website is built on the principle that anyone can browse and download. We're not here to shut things off or stop people from downloading mods. This will never change.
People downloading mods is not the problem - it is the whole point of having a downloads section in the first place.
