Social Club is installed straight away along with GFWL anyway. Then you launch the game for the first time and GFWL tells you that there is a update available. Then whilst installing the update the social club is un-installed automatically. Use the link in my signature below instead.

Ah, I see. I looked at Spooky's post above mine where he said that he couldn't get into the police station and thought it was the guy receiving help from us. I didn't realise it was someone trying to hijack the thread. sorry for the confusion. Your best bet is to uninstall GTA and delete the old program folder. Then reinstall GTA but change the installation directory when asked during the install to the following: C:Program FilesRockstar GamesGrand theft auto IV It won't let you browse for it, because it hasn't been created yet so you may have to type it into the box.

Use either "Traffic Load" or "Traffic Flow" available in the download section here. Basically what you are experiencing is the taxi bug but with police cars instead of taxis. The above mods will spawn civilian vehicles other than taxis or police cars instead so that you have more of a variety of vehicles in your game.

Yes there is no point buying a 8 core because the game won't utilize more than 4 cores but you won't get a decent game out of a single core, so really you do need to think about cores as well. For GTA I recommend a 4-core CPU such as the Phenom II X4 960 or 965 as neo recommended, though you might struggle to get them in some places like I recently did as everyone is beginning to stock the bulldozers instead.

AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition.. This is what I have. You could get any AMD processor that is AM3 such as the new bulldozers.

The graphics card should be fine, and so is the RAM. If you were going to upgrade the first thing I would upgrade would be the CPU, I know you said you couldn't but even if you were to upgrade all the other parts, the CPU would bottleneck the performance anyway. You really need a 4-core CPU for GTA......

Ignore this, this is normal. This happens to all of use once in a while... You press the same key without the "ALT". For example if you spawned with "ALT+I" then you would then just press "I" to use the item, then press "ALT+I" to drop it or put it away. Don't mention it :) Enjoy!

Make sure your GTA directory is not "read-only". Also, are you running the game as a administrator?

No, what he's saying is that you should have used the search function. One of the main things that you should do before creating a new topic is searching to see if your questions have been answered already. It's not pointless as in future you will now know to use the search function. Like Jay also said, There is no ETA till it is fixed as it has been like this for as long as I can remember and was disabled by the devs.
