I'll eat my hat if this game ever sees the light of day. 3 years in development, $73,000 donated, not a single gameplay video - just some animation tests that any 13 y/o with a few spare hours could learn to create. I am almost certain this project is a long running scam for donations.

There are a thousand and one reasons why routine arming of UK officers wouldn't work. But I'll just say, it's simply not necessary. In the most recent terror attack, armed officers arrived on scene and neutralised the targets within 8 minutes of the first 999 call. Westminster had a quicker response time & an AFO would not have prevented Manchester. There's also the issue of cost. We'd be much better of using that money to bolster the intelligence capabilities of our police forces & training more community officers.

ITT: People severely overestimating the size of the modding community. Also, mostly everyone here will still purchase GTA VI/future Rockstar products. You, I, and T2 all know that. Any financial losses from this will be negligible.

Rockstar will be issuing a statement 'shortly'. http://www.pcgamer.com/gta-modding-tool-openiv-shuts-down-claiming-cease-and-desist-from-take-two/ Hopefully it's something along the lines of 'modding is fine, OIV was shutdown due to unrelated reasons' but I'm not optimistic.

I think the theories stating the C&D is possibly a hoax could hold some weight, but I imagine the OIV team have undoubtedly received cease and desist letters before. I would hope they at least verified the letter was from T2 before acting. It'll be interesting to see what happens over the coming days/weeks.

Actually you are "renting" the game. You agreed to Rockstar's EULA when first launching GTA V. It covers all aspects of the game.

Here's a fun fact: GTA Online revenues (shark cards) exceeded $500 million in 2016 with a near 100% profit margin. Just something to consider.

Those creating GoFundMe's so OpenIV can afford legal representation: I hope you're all donating a few thousand each. Take-Two is a multibillion company who most likely have hundreds of lawyers at their disposal. You'd be better of opening your window & throwing your donation into the wind. Incredibly disappointing news but let's not be silly.

I don't know what the deal is in Malaysia, but in the UK we have this little thing called 'Human Rights'. The MI5/Police may suspect someone of being a threat but until they have sufficient evidence very little can be done, unless you're an advocate of internment camps which have proven to be futile and yield very little results. It's almost impossible to stop someone from getting into a car and attempting to run people over. It requires no preparation. It's not worth signing away our rights for a relatively* minor issue. *Inb4 someone accuses me of downplaying terrorism.
