  1. I don't watch too much NFL (I like college football better), but since I was raised in the Washington DC area I am a fan of the Redskins and DC has a rivalry with Baltimore so I don't like the Ravens. All sports rivalries aside though, this is unacceptable and the fact that he only got a 2 game suspension in the first place just goes to show how seriously Goodell takes domestic violence. Even if he hadn't seen the video before he made the decision he should have given a longer suspension. Who cares how bad the offense was, he was convicted of domestic assault. My view is that if you commit a violent crime you should be banned from playing in the NFL. I have no sympathy for people who think it is ok to assault another person, especially if that person is your spouse.
  2. I haven't had the opportunity to download any mods yet but Skyrim is such an awesome game you don't need mods.
  3. I am from the United States, California to be exact. However I grew up in Virginia outside of Washington DC then spent a few years living in Florida. I am in the military so I am stationed in Germany for a couple of years. I love living in Germany, but eventually I will want to move back to the states.
  4. If you are just here to troll you can take it to another thread. This thread is about a serious topic. And for someone who was talking about their dreams to join the military in another thread I will let you know that we work with the Canadian military on a regular basis.
  5. Where do you get this information? Their navy is much larger than that. According to the Royal Canadian Navy's website they have a total of 33 vessels. 3 destroyers 12 frigates 4 submarines 2 supply ships 12 Maritime Coastal Defense Vessels (MCDVs) They also have an additional 8 Patrol Craft Training vessels (PCTs) that are used for coastal patrols and public events/festivals.
  6. Actually one of the USCG's biggest problems is their lack of personnel and ships. They are over stretched, under strength, and have some of the oldest vessels of any other Coast Guard in the world. The U.S. Navy does assist in domestic maritime patrol, but since they don't have the same law enforcement status as the USCG they are limited in what they can do. Not to mention the USN has to deal with their deployments overseas. Come on, he was just posting something funny. Anyone with any sort of knowledge on the subject knows that Canada's military is respectable and if someone doesn't know that then they are either 12 years old (in which case you don't take them seriously anyway) or they are very ignorant of the world around them. I have respect for Canada but a good Canada joke doesn't hurt anyone, eh.
  7. I don't care what real police officers have to say. I am sure they are reviewing it from the stand point of a movie not how, realistic it is, but for me that is something I can't stand because it fuels all the misconceptions that people have about police. Maybe for being a fictional movie it is good but I have found few police movies/TV shows that I can watch. How is the intro bad? Are you kidding? Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to recall them being back on the job only a couple weeks after the shooting. I have never known any cop to get cleared to go back to work only a couple weeks after they shot and killed someone (who knows, maybe I'm wrong). The part that made me turn the movie off was immediately after that scene where they respond to a disturbance call of some sort and the suspect and the officer get into a pissing match with each other and the officer takes off his duty belt and just starts fist fighting and wrestling with the guy all because he said an insult. That would NEVER happen in the real world and anyone who would do that would probably be suspended or fired. So like I said, maybe it is good for a fictional action thriller movie, but I don't think I would put it towards the top of my list of police movies to watch.
  8. End of Watch, that movie was so unrealistic and shitty in the first 5 minutes I turned it off and watched something else. Come on nobody just starts taking off their duty belt at a call and starts fighting with the suspect, you would lose your job because of that. That movie gave such a bad representation of police officers and made the whole profession look like shit.
  9. According to their website they have been doing deployments the past couple years. Scroll to the bottom: http://www.vfa192.navy.mil/history.htm
  10. Most of the schools you go to in the Army are connected with whatever local community college is in the area so you get credits for stuff you do. I got 27 credits towards a degree in Intelligence Operations or something like that from the local community college when I graduated from AIT. I already had a couple years of college before I enlisted so I'm pretty close to having a free Associate's degree.
  11. You are correct on all of those points expect the first one. I don't believe Japan is the most advanced military. If anyone is more advanced than the U.S. I would have to say it would be Israel (and I don't even think they are more advanced than us). Also not all of the stuff ISIS and other insurgent groups are using are outdated equipment. ISIS has captured a lot from the Iraqi army including some of the stuff we sold to Iraq. You can google pictures of ISIS insurgents driving around in uparmored Humvees. Same with the rebels in Syria during the civil war they are going through. The rebels in Syria have captured Syrian army equipment including T-72s which are older but by no means something to scoff at.
  12. Shouldn't have to wait to long. It seems like any big sale Steam has CSGO is always up there.
  13. Lol ok just making sure because I have met lots of people who just told their recruiter that they wanted to be Security Forces and they got it. I actually met a guy in airborne school who had just finished OSUT (basic training/job training) and he came in as an E-4 and already had a decent stack of ribbons. I found out he was prior service from the Air Force so I asked him what he did and he said he was a TACP washout who got reclassed to Security Forces. He was an 18X which is a Special Forces candidate so he was trying to make it through selection to be a green beret. The guy was alright, but most of the time he was a dick who thought he was better than everyone else because he was prior service and had done a deployment. If he couldn't make it through Air Force SOF training not sure what made him think he would be able to do it in the Army, but whatever, he will probably wash out of selection and get reclassed to 11B and go be a regular infantry grunt.
  14. Wait do you mean being a pilot is extremely hard to get into or Security Forces? Not exactly a horrible back up plan. Someone could have not made it to fighter pilot for many different reasons. It could be that they had a limited number of slots and they didn't choose him because they ran out of spots. I would recommend having another plan besides fighter or airline pilot though because both of those a pretty competitive to get into and airline pilot, as mentioned before, does usually require you to have several licenses/certificates and many many hours flown on certain types of aircraft before you are qualified and all of that is done with your own money and it is quite expensive. Don't mean to sound like a dick but if you are letting a couple of kids discourage you from doing something then maybe you aren't cut out for the military because people are going to tell you far worse stuff. If you are going to be sensitive and let some words hurt you then you need to toughen up. Most of the time it comes with maturity and age, but even if you decide to purse a different career path you will still encounter people like that in the real world.
  15. In my experience you just learn them over time and gaining experience. I didn't really know all the 10-codes and signals until I actually went on ride alongs with patrol deputies because that is when I started using them on a regular basis and that helped me memorize them.
  16. I noticed in the second video there is a motorcycle cop in the back who could be an actually police officer. Also he might not be conducting real traffic stops, for all we know those could be actors they hired.
  17. Lol, no that is not what those statistic are saying. In fact the author of what every you are reading sounds like they are trying to make a case that black people are being targeted more often and that police are basically ignoring when white people commit crimes. I don't totally agree with that assessment but those stats just show that black people get caught more often.and that white people don't. Now there are several possibilities as too why black people are getting arrested more than white people but as far as I know there are no statistics that show why that is because it would be nearly impossible to investigate all the possible reasons for that. Lol, yeah usually when someone says Springfield I automatically think of Illinois, but I know there is also one in Missouri too.
  18. Yes, but that statistic still just reinforces the fact that they are caught more frequently, not that they commit more crimes. Although I disagree with the whole "indicates racial profiling" I don't believe that they cause the most crime (at least in certain areas). In areas where the population is majority black then you would expect black people to commit the majority of crime in that area because there are more of them there. However, and I don't have stats for this, I am willing to bet if someone looked at the statistics for people arrested in the county I lived in then they would see white people commit the most crimes because where I live is mostly white and very few minorities live there. So I think it is dependent on your location and what the population is made up of. If you have an overwhelmingly black population then it makes sense that they commit more crimes, same if you have an overwhelmingly white population but I don't think that their skin color has anything to do with the likely hood that they commit a crime.
  19. Please back up this statistic with some evidence. If you are referring to the statistic that shows more black people being incarcerated then I think you are using that stat incorrectly. Just because they are incarcerated at a higher rate doesn't necessarily mean they commit more crimes, it just means they get caught more frequently. There could be plenty of crimes out there that are unreported or unsolved and we wouldn't know who committed those crimes.
  20. Like I said, there are other jobs that are high stress too. I am aware that some years more tow truck drivers are killed than police. Although those stats are only for roadside deaths, there are still more police killed in the line of duty each year total and while the past few years law enforcement has seen a significant decrease in auto related deaths, gunfire deaths have seen a very drastic increase from previous years. Ok, if you don't talk to cops anyway then why are you complaining about them not being personable with you? I find it hard to believe that out of all the police officers you claim to deal with that "99.99%" are not personable or approachable, but if that is the case then I am sorry that you have such bad luck with police officers.
  21. Depending on who you are playing with Counter Strike can be a tactical game. I wouldn't be surprised if there are clans out there that use realistic tactics for Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
  22. Where did I say that you judged me? What I said in that quote was not directed towards you. You asked me a question and I answered it by quoting something I had just said like one or two posts before. I never accused you of passing judgement on me and I was not offended by your question. BTW when you say something like "no offense" that usually means you are about to say something offensive, so if you want to insult me or offend me in the future don't bother putting "no offense" in there. I am not offended though because I can see that you misinterpreted what I posted.
  23. So your answer would be no, I am not a police officer right now. Once I am done serving my tour I plan on going back and getting hired with an agency.
  24. I don't know, maybe based on your attitude during this entire conversation. Please explain to me what "all cops are trained the exact same" means. Lol, I make it sound like that because it is a VERY stressful job. I know there are other very stressful jobs as well and I don't know of any study that ranks jobs based on stress level but I'm sure law enforcement officer is somewhere near the top. What isn't stressful about not knowing if you are coming home again? What is not stressful about worrying if the person you are about to contact with wants to kill you? These are things that you deal with on a regular basis on the street and it is very stressful. Being personable is appropriate at times but that does not mean you have to be personable all the time. If someone is getting in my face about something then I've kinda lost the desire to be personable with that person. Besides, are you out at an MVA looking to make friends with a police officer? I don't know what kind of conversations you've had with them but when I'm getting swamped with calls and just trying to move onto the next call I'm not really interested in striking up a friendly conversation with someone and it might seem like I'm being a dick and ignoring you but I'm just trying to get my job done as quick as possible so I can clear.
  25. I didn't say it was ignorant because it was different. Re-read my post, I said your post was ignorant because you are making an assumption about 800,000 people based on your interaction with a handful of people. You could not be more wrong about all cops being trained the exact same, that is not true (at least not in the U.S.). There are things that will be the same but that does not mean that they are all trained the same way. Sorry, when you have to deal with the things they see then you wouldn't exactly be walking around with a smile on your face all the time. No where in the job requirements does it say you have to be personable with everyone, sometimes you just want to get the call done and move on. FYI I have more experience than just the academy and I'm not a cop at the moment (I'm serving in the military at the moment) but since you don't know me or anything about me you are in no place to judge how much experience I have because I can guarantee I have way more than you think. And you know why bad cops make headlines, because those headlines get more viewers and get better ratings. Nobody wants to hear about cops who are volunteering in the community in their free time, a headline about a dirty cop selling drugs is much more interesting to most people.
