  1. About officers disappearing, that may be a system specs issue. If you don't have a good enough system, officers (especially NOOSE/FIB) get aggressively despawned by GTA.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the BBC's watchdog isn't a government regulatory agency, correct? This seems more reasonable than what I thought you were saying - saying Rockstar can no longer produce new boxart saying "MP" is fair, though it does seem a bit strange to force a recall of what's currently in stores (particularly because GTA IV can be in stores without Rockstar's knowledge). I don't see how this answers the question. If the disclaimer is on the box, that's part of how the product is being described, is it not? If you have to buy it to see the disclaimer, that clearly is something that can justify a refund, but if the disclaimer is on the box, isn't that something that's part of the product description? If I have an ad for a cruise, show the most luxurious room on the ad, and say "Tickets starting from $50", is it assumed that $50 will pay for such a room? I submit that anything that would ever require Rockstar to *exist* forever is a stupid, stupid law. Also, this is not even close to the first time online games have shut down. City of Heroes was an MMO that shut down. It prominently advertised online play. Its publisher is still in business. And yet, it shut down. If what you are saying is true, it is never legal to shut down MP for a game once you create it.
  3. First off, there is no Trade Descriptions Act of 1979. I assume that was a typo, and you meant the Act of 1968 or the Sale of Goods Act 1979. Second off, that is one of the more insane interpretations of consumer-protection law I've ever seen. Do you have any evidence that a court would find that shutting down an online service violates consumer-protection law? Any caselaw on the matter? Keep in mind that, right now, you do get multiplayer with GTA IV. In the future, you may not, but it makes no promises about the future. Based on the quick search I just did (yes, yes, that's not really legit, I don't care), it seems like the important bit is whether statements were true when they were made. Is there one single piece of evidence to support the idea that discontinuing a service while not updating boxart that is already on shelves is illegal? Any evidence to suggest that that disclaimer is insufficient?
  4. Hench - Are you trying to argue that promising "unlimited free access" to a service then means that the service may NEVER be discontinued? I admit I'm not an expert on British law, but I imagine that's not an argument that would lead to *any* sympathy from a court.
  5. The text document is ScriptHookDotNet.log, it's just that Windows is being "helpful" [/sarcasm] by hiding the full filename. But yeah, post the Text Document called ScriptHookDotNet.
  6. Can you look into your EFLC directory and post the contents of ScriptHookDotNet.log?
  7. It's not IV that's messed up, it's his bosses real, physical truck that looks weird.

  10. OK, seriously? The CVPI was around for just under 20 years. For the first 10 or so, the Caprice was more often considered the stereotypical law enforcement vehicle. It's not like this is some super-long-standing tradition - there were a few years where it was really the only patrol vehicle, but it was dangerous in rear impacts, had terrible fuel economy, and cas considered by many to be inferior to the car it generally replaced.
  11. Does anyone have Saints Row IV? How is it, performance-wise?
  12. If you don't think you should link to something, wouldn't it follow that you shouldn't describe how to find it either?
  13. That was a serious post: downforeveryoneorjustme.com (aka isup.me) exists for exactly this reason.

  15. Yup, no need to replace an original cop car (warning: the computer won't work on the added bike, though).
  16. Note: Do NOT save while you are on-duty. Period. If you save while you aren't in the player model (e.g. on-duty, where you're using a cop model), it WILL corrupt your save.
  17. I was responding to what Hoffers quoted.
  18. That isn't at ALL how copyright works. First, you do not need to register copyright to claim it in any country which is party to the Berne Convention (this includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia, effectively all of Europe, China....) Second, when you buy a model, depending on the site, you aren't necessarily actually buying the model - you may be buying a license to *use* the model under restrictive conditions (for example, Humster3D doesn't let you redistribute in any form unless it is impossible to recover the original model from it - basically, their models are designed for picture and videos).
  19. If you have proof, you may be able to send a DMCA to their hosting provider.
  20. You should not use Inventor, period. While it is a good program, it is *terrible* for this sort of modeling - it's a CAD program, not a generic 3D modeling program. Essentially, Inventor doesn't concern itself with things like polys, which you absolutely need to worry about for car mods. The reason is that Inventor is not designed for making models where the model is the finished product - it's designed for making models to help with building something in the real world. Instead of dealing with models as a bunch of polys, it deals with things like holes, extrusions, lofts, sweeps, etc., which get stored as those higher-level concepts (enabling you to, say, easily move a hole a bit). Do not use Inventor, AutoCAD, or any other CAD/CAM program for video game modding. It will not work. As for 3ds max, I'd recommend you not use that to start. ZModeler is the only program that can export to IV vehicles, and so you must learn to use it anyway. Given that, for any simpler modeling jobs, use ZModeler. 3ds max really only finds a use when you are doing scratch modeling, because that's complicated enough it can be worth doing in it, but when you're starting out, ZModeler is better. tl;dr - Don't use Inventor ever, don't use 3ds max to start out, just use ZModeler. Also, MODERATOR NOTICE Moved to Content Mods
  21. It'd be nice if future versions were easier to translate.
  22. MODERATOR NOTICE As this service has ceased to be maintained, I'm unpinning and closing this topic. If anything changes and the MDC starts up again, simply report this post.
  23. What, and take the fun out of it? I'm in the *LCPD*, not some namby-pamby agency that cares about "no collateral damage" or "not running over 12 people to arrest someone who dinged my car".
