Dogy reacted to LukeD in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingThey just released an update that benefits ~52 million people and yet here you are STILL insisting they don't care about what the gamers want?
Can I ask, have you actually gone and looked and READ every line in the latest changelog to see how much they have just done to make your gaming experience better?
If they didn't care as much as you insist, they would have released the game and gone "right that's it, lol thanks for the money"
Instead you get free DLC that most other developers charge you for, you get lots of problems that are fixed and yet they still don't care?

Dogy reacted to LukeD in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingScrewed over thousands, benefited how ever many copies of GTA V PC were sold, 52 million copies across all platforms (which is everyone affected by this update).
I'm no degree level mathematician, but I can tell you "thousands" is less than millions.
I think therefore they have a VERY good reason to release updates for single player and online, regardless of what you think..

Dogy reacted to Pavelow in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingWhat do you call releasing free content to players, as well as making sure that others don't ruin the experience with online mods? Yeah, that sure sounds like they don't care about gamers.

Dogy reacted to LukeD in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingOh no, like every other massive corporation out there you mean?

Dogy reacted to LMS in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingIt's not that bad, relax people. We're working on it.

Dogy reacted to Will in Ill-Gotten Gains Update and ModdingI love how everyone is so mad that Rockstar is releasing free content. If it was any other company, you would need a season pass or premium or whatever to get this content. I know those of you that don't play online don't give a shit, but these content updates are actually good. Sure, they temporarily break modding, but even games that support modding do that. Everytime Minecraft is updated, the mods need to be updated. Every time Euro Truck Simulator 2 is updated, the mods need to be updated (well not all mods, but the more complicated ones do). The GTA modding community needs to stop being entitled little pricks.

Dogy reacted to Sam in 20 May - 9 New Screenshots!I reply to this topic quite regularly. Admittedly I took a break from developing today and put together the screenshots, then went on a killing spree with MichaelV in GTA Online.

Dogy reacted to Sam in 20 May - 9 New Screenshots! As we move ever closer to the first public release of LSPDFR, here's nine brand new screenshots, showing just a taste of things to come. Be sure to stay tuned for more in the coming days - including the second, and likely final, preview trailer.

Dogy reacted to PhillBellic in 20 May - 9 New Screenshots!I love that Vehicle Selection screen, complete with Vehicle Names.

Dogy reacted to FinKone in LSPDFR Announcement + PreviewYea thats the main thing people don't just get. If they say the first version will have arresting in it - but they haven't found the animation names for arresting, and its not there - then they will be burned at the stakes. Arresting was more or less used as a simple example. There is no telling what will make it into the first release - so there is no point in talking about it honestly. Agree with' ya.

Dogy reacted to Sam in LSPDFR Announcement + PreviewTo recreate LCPDFR piece by piece would take months - we want to be in the position to release something relatively quickly, but not make it feel like a really incomplete or unauthentic thing. So, for now, we've started with nothing and have been adding some LCPDFR inspired concepts. This should hopefully let us occupy the centre ground for a bit and give everyone a taste of the LCPDFR experience, with the small details, that they've come to know
In the long term, the RAGE plugin hook is developed in such a way that the syntax is idential/as similar as possible to that of the SHDN hook for GTA IV. Once sufficiently completed, it should theoretically be possible to port parts of LCPDFR over or use parts of LCPDFR as a base, especially the very powerful engine which it was built on for 1.0 and above.

Dogy reacted to Sam in LSPDFR Announcement + PreviewAm I right in thinking that this scene from the trailer is also in the "Underbelly of Paradise" TV show with Steve Haines? Maybe? I'll have a look.
If it is, the assets for it should be tucked away somewhere in the game, e.g. I remember in GTA IV the "hood arrest" animation was never used in-game, but was used for the "be a cop" TV commercial. We can probably look into this once we can look at the animation files (right now we have to guess their names).
I think development started a few weeks before August 5th 2009, when it was first announced with a trailer. The first version was released on the 27th of August and featured little more than changing into one police model, spawning a cop car and basic backup/arrest support, plus some other buggy things.
Oh, this is something I've thought of for a while, but I'm not sure how possible it would be to implement (at least as far as making it use the seamless google earth style switching in the game/overriding it)
Nope, we only have access to a few files, and they aren't very helpful. The big thing will be when OpenIV can open animation files - right now we can only see their set names, not the animations inside them.
Despite this, I made a major breakthrough with the arresting animations today. More to come, soon :)

Dogy reacted to Yard1 in Modding and VGuys, I just took a look at GTA V files with OpenIV (new update) and almost evrything is in XML. Take a look at this file - dispatch.meta. It controls the wanted level system, or more specifically, what cars and what peds spawn during which wanted level and where
http://pastebin.com/ZwMDKnve
It seems extremely easy to configure this to, say, spawn female cops alongside male ones, spawn Buffaloes and Vapids alongside Interceptors, get sheriffs to spawn alongside LSPD in the city and even get the army to spawn at 5 stars should somebody want to.
And the best part - there is more! I imagine almost every single thing in-game is configurable. Now we just have to wait for OpenIV to support editing. I'll let you know if I manage to dig up something interesting.
