TF75Chris reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4.2 - Coming Soon!Hot off the release of LSPDFR 0.4 a couple of months ago, we're upping the ante with another update which brings not only sweeping improvements to the LSPDFR 0.4 API, but also some unique features which have long been requested.
Originally, the plan was merely to release 0.4.2 as a quick follow-up to 0.4 and 0.4.1 - just simple fixes and changes, plus the API improvements to help developers make the most of 0.4. Necessary changes, but not really cool enough, right? So, with that in mind we took a little time to dig back into the archives of LSPDFR and revisit some of our old concepts and ideas. Now, while some of these are actually in the mod - they're most likely either tucked away as 'easter eggs' or just disabled because they weren't quite right.
If you're a connoisseur of traffic stops, for example, you might've noticed that occasionally the unexpected and oh so demoralizing experience of pulling over a federal agent hits you right in the feels as they arrogantly flash their shiny badge, tell you where to stick your comparatively less shiny badge, and drive off. (If you haven't seen this before, here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNOxZR2ak0M)
Originally the plan was to add this as a feature for players to use, but it just didn't quite fit in with 0.3, and we had some trouble with the animation not being quite as fluid as we'd like. That was then, though, and given that you now play as your own character both on and off duty, we thought it'd be a bit of a must-have now, so we've tidied it up and are introducing it as a player action in 0.4.2.
With one quick glance at the shimmering shield, her problems are suddenly your problems. (Note, a custom badge model is shown instead of the default FIB one - you will be able to define custom models to use on a per-agency basis)
Now, not only does this look exceedingly awesome, but it serves a practical purpose too. Available both on and off-duty, showing your badge will clear any wanted level and may also instill the fear of the law in nearby citizens, potentially de-escalating the otherwise unavoidable confrontations that flare when you walk around Mirror Park without the latest iFruit phone, for example!
Of course, that's not all. Continuing with the idea of adding things that are just generally cool, we know that people have wanted a ballistic shield feature in LSPDFR for quite some time. Sure, you can spawn one with a trainer or download another mod, but it's just not quite the same is it?
We thought it'd be particularly sweet to have it at your fingertips instead, fully integrated with LSPDFR, ready to kick some butt.
As if being Frank Tenpenny isn't cool enough...
Our ballistic shield, accessed from the Interaction Menu, uses our new animation system in 0.4.2 which we think looks absolutely gorgeous. There's also the freedom to switch between Stealth and Action mode which will vary your pose accordingly, compatibility with most weapons and the potential for future AI support.
Oh yeah, did we mention you can actually arrest people at gunpoint while holding a freaking shield?!
Keep your eyes open for LSPDFR 0.4.2, coming soon.

TF75Chris reacted to Sam in 0.4 Flashlight IdeasWe had to do a lot of hacking and trickery to get the flashlight animation working nicely. I might look into it further when I get some time, but it is probably about as good as you're going to get for now I'm afraid.

TF75Chris reacted to Alamo7741 in LSPDFR Dev Appreciation ThreadHey all, I know there are many of us here that are huge fans of LSPDFR. I count myself in that category. I think the first time I played was when it was LCPDFR for Grand Theft Auto IV. Be that as it may, I was, like many others, quite excited about LSPDFR 0.4 and its release. I know so many of you all were as well. What bothered me was the impatience and sometimes harsh commentary towards the developers and staff leading up to the release of the current update. I will digress on that sentence and get to my point. The developers that work on this mod and make what they made for us all deserve a whole lot of appreciation for the time they take out of their lives to do all this for us. Not trying to be cheesy here, but I just started getting into developing myself and it's not easy. Especially when there isn't a whole ton of incentive to do so.
TLDR: Show some appreciation to the developers of this mod. Its more than well deserved. So, Thank you!!!!!

TF75Chris got a reaction from LMS in LSPDFR 0.4 - Official Discussion TopicHoly crap guys, you've outdone yourself with this update. I'm loving everything about it. The ambiance is awesome and I finally just got in a pursuit and it was literally the best pursuit I've been, it went so smooth, the AI (both PD and suspect) were actually smart (especially the suspect actually, he did a lot of moves that almost lost the pursuing units lol) and I'm loving the immersion of having your own character. Everything is working smooth and it's amazing, thank you guys for your hard work.
Oh and the flashlight is the coolest thing ever.

I'm actually going to FINNALLY be playing 0.4 and testing all the keys and call outs and the plugins. So far it has been almost two days of installation and backing up and testing lol. This is how my 0.4 is looking so far!. Not much but hoping more plugins will be created and released and many will be updated!.

TF75Chris reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Official Discussion TopicObviously we want everyone to be focused on 0.4, so this isn't something we will support officially. Nonetheless, I'd rather you get the files from us than have to go searching somewhere else, so I've attached the files for 0.3.1 below.

Be greatful for what you get. LSPDFR is free and the people who have created it and developed have spent a lot of their time to make a awesome mod for us. If you feel like they should have already made it, please volunteer yourself for their team and do it yourself. I’m sorry but I’m really over ungrateful people.

TF75Chris reacted to Hisel in A list of what works and what doesn't with LSPDFR 0.4. Feel free to add.I can confirm that Computer+ and Stop The Ped work together harmoniously, so maybe look elsewhere for the culprit? It absolutely pained me to have to start over completely, but I totally understand that when developing 0.4, they have to develop with the base game in mind. The only thing 0.4 desperately needs from a gameplay standpoint right now is a radio that allows for a license plate check while moving and a towing service.

Remember to always make a backup. I am not liable for your broken game.
Keep in mind to remain grateful as this is a modification we are playing free of charge. We are literally just over 12 hours into 0.4's release, so time is needed for authors to make the proper adjustments to their mods for implementation from 0.3.
Also, please do not include any visual or audio modifications as these should be irrelevant to the version of LSPDFR being played.

TF75Chris reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Now AvailableFirst time playing 0.4? Check out our new getting started guide for LSPDFR 0.4: https://www.lcpdfr.com/wiki/lspdfr/04/getting-started/
About a year ago, we announced the development of LSPDFR 0.4. We said it was big, and we said it was different, but I honestly don't think any of us quite imagined just how big and different it would turn out to be, nor how much of a challenge it would be to take the concepts and ideas that we had and turn them into reality.
Still, here we are. Thousands of changes later, we're here. Everyone on the team is delighted to announce the first public release of LSPDFR 0.4, available now.
LSPDFR 0.4 brings sweeping changes which have been implemented over a number of years, so much so that we're not able to provide full release notes. Instead, we've put together a number of resources, new to LSPDFR 0.4, including a 'wiki' and a collection of more in-depth guides.
Note as well that because of this - the sheer number of things that have changed - there will be issues. We've put over two months into testing 0.4, and we've made hundreds of fixes in this time. Still, there's undoubtedly going to be things that we've missed, or things that simply can't be tested in a controlled environment. This is a big release, and we wanted to do right by all of you by getting it out as soon as we can.
With that being said, I'll shut up now and let the mod speak for itself.
LSPDFR 0.4 Page: https://www.lcpdfr.com/lspdfr
LSPDFR 0.4 Wiki: https://www.lcpdfr.com/wiki/lspdfr/04
Note that we strongly recommend installing LSPDFR 0.4 for the first time on a clean copy of Grand Theft Auto V with no other mods or plugins.

TF75Chris reacted to LukeD in HOW TO: Avoid Rockstar UpdatesHelp GTA V updated and now LSPDFR doesn't work!
With the ever increasing number of threads being made and the number of repeats we all have to make about Rockstar I figured it would be beneficial for you all to have a pinned thread on avoiding updates along with some useful information for you all.
Important Notices:
This is verified to work with the STEAM edition of GTA V, I cannot verify that it will also work with the RGSC edition, however if users report that it works I will update this thread to suit the requirements.
Do not upload or copy links to downloads containing the backup files, as we do not condone sharing the original game files.
Modding will always be broken by official updates. this is not just a Rockstar thing, this applies to any game that gets a new update. Cities: Skylines for example has native mod support through Steam workshop, but those mods get broken and require updating whenever Colossal Order (the developers) release an update.
Here is what they have to say on the matter:
And here is what Rockstar says on the matter:
So lets take a minute out of our time to not whine, complain, shout at and otherwise slander Rockstar for updating their game just because it slightly inconveniences you. If you had made backups you wouldn't be in any position to need to slander them. We're all getting tired of reading and responding to the same select posts "Rockstar sucks, they released a stupid update I don't care about". Let's just stop. Please?
With that over with, let's get onto....
The Guide Part 1 - Making a Backup:
It's no surprise that the title updates appear to be unavoidable in some regards. On Steam the launcher often forces you to update before you can play, I suspect this is similar for the RGSC edition. But fortunately it's possible to trick Steam (and possibly RGSC) into thinking it has updated, and as such that is the big secret about this guide.
1) Create a folder in your GTA V directory or in a preferred location (to avoid any possible chance of accidentally removing the files, I recommend making the backup outside of the directory)
2) Name this folder "GTAVBackup" or something similar so you know EXACTLY what this folder contains.
3) Take careful note of what patch you are currently on, this is best found via the RagePluginHook.log file, I'll show you what you're looking for:
Scroll down to the bottom of the log (most recent logged activity usually) and then slowly scroll up until you find the beginning of your last modded game session, it will look like this:
Product Version: 1.0.393.2"
4) Copy the GTA5.exe, GTAVLauncher.exe into the folder you created before (these are both located in the root of your GTA V directory)
5) Now go into Grand Theft Auto V / update / and copy the update.rpf file into the backup folder.
6) Congratulations you've just made a backup of the latest patch.
Now how do we stop GTA V updating?...
The Guide Part 2 - Avoiding the Update
Now as I mentioned earlier it is not actually possible to 100% avoid the update. But you can trick Steam and possibly RGSC into thinking it has updated.
1) Open your GTA V commandline file (called commandline.txt) and add the following to it "-scOfflineOnly" (without the quotes), this will force GTA V to load social club in offline mode (and therefore boot straight into singleplayer) NOTE: You must have loaded GTA V at least once to let it authorise your account before using offline mode.
2) Let GTA V update. CRAZY!? RIGHT? I know but there is method in the madness. Let it update to the latest patch version.
3) Here comes the magic, once the game has updated....guess what you do with those files we backed up in part 1? Yes, you replace the new files in your GTA V directory with the ones from your backup folder.
4) Launch the game and voila you've just gone backwards by a patch version. Your mods should now continue to work fine.
Keeping Track of Updates
Now that you know how to go backwards by a patch you also know how to manage your game versions. Or do you? You see while mods will all continue to work on the previous patch we will always strive to bring our mods up to date and in line with the latest patches so that you can keep enjoying them. Meaning they soon become outdated.
Keep an eye on all information possible, the main places to go to are:
• This forum (see the top of the website for important information).
• GTAForums thread for ScriptHookV (and Alexander Blade's development website)
• RagePluginHook website
• Rockstar Games website
Make your backup at the start of a patch when mods are all working again, as this is probably the point you want to go back to when an update occurs. Do not replace your backup files immediately. Only replace them when you KNOW mods work on that patch. And if you have the disk space, feel free to keep multiple backups.
Updated Information! - Reverting Game Version 757 to 678
Special thanks to all users who discovered this, and to MulleDK for the tutorial video that can be found at the top of the home page, or here.
In order to revert this game version you are required to backdate your Social Club Launcher application as well, failure to do so results in "error 16".
Follow the steps of the full guide as per usual, replacing the updated game files with the backed up old version (678). When you try to launch the game now you will received an error 16 launch failure.
1) Uninstall all traces of the Social Club application
2) Install the corresponding patch release for the Social Club launcher. This can be found direct from Rockstar's website here http://patches.rockstargames.com/prod/socialclub/Social-Club-v1.1.7.8-Setup.exe
3) Launch the game and enjoy your mods

TF75Chris reacted to Sam in LSPDFR 0.4 - Coming February, 2019So, it's been a while since we've provided an update on LSPDFR 0.4. As you might've guessed from the title, though, there's a good reason for this... It has taken us a lot of work to get to this point, and in the last couple of months alone we've made hundreds and hundreds of changes. Anyway, here we are - who knows how many months late - but we're here. No riddles, no treasure hunts, no @MSA (at least I'm pretty sure they're not here), but straight to the point! We can now confirm that we'll be releasing LSPDFR 0.4 in February, 2019.
Anyway... with the scary part out of the way, I wanted to take the opportunity to explain ourselves a little. No, @LMS wasn't renditioned to an IAA black site, no I didn't fall victim to the Orbital Cannon, and no... the ghost of @ineseri didn't drive a train into us. Perfectly plausible scenarios given our silence about 0.4 as of late, but we're actually still alive. Instead, we've been pretty busy rushing to the finish line as far as 0.4 is concerned, and to complement the big news above, we thought we'd throw in a couple of sweeteners below to show just how much 0.4 is going to change things.
We've talked a lot about our Character system in LSPDFR 0.4. It's one of the biggest changes to the mod, but we also think it represents an entirely new direction in general. I say this because, not only does it allow us to have a bunch of really cool stuff natively integrated into the mod, like customizing a character, but it also lets us have a bunch of other really cool stuff natively integrated into the mod! Having your own character dials up the immersion quite substantially, but we wanted to take things to another level. We thought, for example, wouldn't it be cool if instead of spawning as Franklin in Franklin's house, you could instead, say, I don't know? Actually spawn as your own character, in their house. Or maybe, instead of switching to Trevor and your camera panning down to him being pursued by the LSPD, you could switch to one of your other characters, and "Google Earth" down to them being the LSPD.
LSPDFR 0.4 introduces a fully functional GTA Online Apartment to single-player, complete with transition sequences, working interactions and more Steve Haines than you can handle.
It's not just that, though, we really wanted to dial it up. Having your own character, them having an apartment, switching, customizing, it's all cool, right? But you might be thinking, what's the point? These are "multiplayer features". And sure, LSPDFR is and most likely always will be a single-player mod, but that doesn't mean we can't think outside of the box every once in a while.
Recently, @Cyan, in addition to all of her work on the website, has also been developing an all new framework called LSPDFR Sync. LSPDFR Sync lets you connect up to your LSPDFR.com account in-game, and you can then synchronize your LSPDFR characters with your LSPDFR.com profile. To top it off, we've brought back statistics too. Ever wanted to know how many shots your character has fired? It's as simple as taking a look at your character's profile on the site - which, we should add, you can actually edit.
LSPDFR Sync provides all-new, seamless connectivity with your LSPDFR.com profile.
And frankly, it doesn't even end there. When I said before that we wanted to dial the immersion up to the max, I guess I lied. What I actually meant to say was that we'd just ripped the dial clean off the controls, strapped it to a rocket, and sent the damn thing up to the moon. Not only can you now create a character, customize them, share them, spawn as them... You can actually do things as them too! Like, actual game things. Ever wanted to run the triathalon as your LSPDFR Character? Now you can. Or, how about practicing with your sidearm down at the range? Yep, got that too. Simply want a can of sprunk from a vending machine? No problem.
With the introduction of a new innovative system by @LMS, it's now possible to do many of the single-player minigames while playing as your LSPDFR Character.
Of course, with the Character system, and all of the features that come with it, being such a huge part of LSPDFR 0.4 it'd be easy to forget that this is a police mod. Indeed, I think we almost did given the grotesquely gargantuan amount of work that has gone into it. Fear not, though, as we have also been working on some incredible new gameplay features too, including massive improvements to interaction with suspects and people that you arrest.
LSPDFR 0.4 introduces, in a game-changing way, the ability to take hold of and drag arrested suspects. Yes, we know that there's some great API mods which have held the fort, and we're grateful for that, but this is something we wanted to get absolutely right, and indeed, we think the result is simply stunning. The possibilities are pretty far-reaching too and encompass just about everything from shoving suspects up against cruisers, to personally escorting them into their cells.
No, these aren't cutscenes. No, they're not edited screenshots. With 0.4, this is real.

TF75Chris got a reaction from sEbi3 in LSPDFR 0.4 - AmbienceSo excited for this update!! You guys always amaze the community. And personally, I'm absolutely pumped to see this special section dedicated to ambiance because it's a very important gameplay aspect for me. On that note I have a request. In LCPDFR I use to love cruising down a dark alley way with my lights off and then spot some sketchy looking people hanging out there, turn on my takedowns and step out to check them out. In the GTA V universe, I've always felt that aspect was lacking. There's always only like 2 spots in South LS where bangers hang in alleys (unless you're somewhere where there's like 30 of them), or if you're elsewhere there's always like 10 homeless people which makes it a pain to step out and search all of them. So basically, is there some way to address this in the new update? Maybe add some peds in random alleyways and stuff acting sketchy (just like 1 or 2)? And I don't mean actually committing a crime other than maybe loitering or trespassing or something minor (so not stealing cars etc).
Thank you guys so much for all your hard work and I apologize if I missed something blatantly addressing this in the main post lol
