Out of curiosity, what are you referring to? Uploading new photos from photobucket here? Editing will put your stuff to the front of the gallery but I don't see how you would need to edit to upload new images?

I used to upload more than one picture in my posts so, aside from the main picture uploaded to the forum gallery, I uploaded the additional pictures to an image hosting -in this case photobucket- and then embed them in the post.

Hence, now that photobucket has changed their terms of service, those additional pictures are broken and no longer work, so I would like to change those; reupload and embed them again using the new working url from a different hosting. And, for that, I need to edit the description of the pictures that is where I inserted them -I often added the textures I used there, instead of making a whole new post in the downloads section, to keep my content centralized-. So I believe that could be bothersome for other users to have this content, which may no longer be relevant, on the front of the gallery.

See, this is what I mean.

You could use imgur, that's what I've always used as image hosting.

Yeah, that's where I was thinking to move my pictures tol. However, I had heard that it had some issues with high quality pictures or something, would it really be a good choice to upload textures there?

  2. Well, for those who use it and may still no be aware of it, I've just found out that the site Photobucket has changed their policies and no longer allows third party hosting unless you pay for it. Since Imageshack did the move some years ago, I've been uploading many of the pictures I post here and elsewhere there and thus they don't work anymore.

Even if I am not as active here and in modding in general as I used to be, I still would like to have my content uploaded and fully working. Most of the stuff I would like to restore is uploaded in my gallery; there, there's uploaded either pictures and the textures of the mods showcased. The problem is that when you edit a picture of your gallery, it automatically seem to be sent to the frontpage of the gallery, which would be kind of a dick move, especially for those users who are uploading new content and would get buried with older content of a lesser relevance.

So my question here is if there is any way so I can edit the pictures of my gallery, fixing embeded pictures and stuff with working urls, without them being posted back to the frontpage of the gallery.

    Cheers.

  4. I guess that the Volkspolizei-Bereitschaft could be considered as the East German counterpart to the OMON; a paramilitary police force independent from the Volkspolizei and under the command of the Ministry of Interior, in charge of riot control or maintaining public order. I am unsure about the degree of militarization both forces had though.

You might like to check this site, though in German, has info an pictures of the loadout and uniforms of either Volkspolizei (VoPo), Diensteinheit IX and Volkspolizei-Bereitschaft (BePo). The video I posted earlier picture them training but like I pointed out, it was very likely filmed soon after the reunification.

  5. That's interesting. The Munich Attacks were a before and an after for counter terrorist forces. Soon after West Germany created the GSG9, in 1973, East Germany formed their own version under the command of the Stasi, the Diensteinheit IX.

There's this clip on youtube about the Diensteinheit IX, though is probably during/after the reunification.

On another point, the armored in the second picture is a Thyssen Henschel UR-416, which was extensively used by the Spanish Policía Nacional throughtout the 1980's in conflictive areas of the country, the Basque Country and Navarra in particular.

I can't tell the amount of footage from the 1993 WTC bombing I watched only trying to figure out what the 'YORK' van pictured there was from, as it can be seen parked in different places during the response to the incident. Medical examiner perhaps?

With the right setup it's a real good looking car. Another one can be seen in this 1988 documentary about the Los Angeles gangs, at 10:00. There are few other clips of the LAPD/LASD in action too.

  8. Then how do I know where to install the files? I mean, if installing them wrong makes the game crash, and the backup files useless as the game will keep crashing even if I use them, using mods in V is like walking blindfolded into a land mine field. It's a complete mess. And another thing I don't either understand, why won't backup work either?

  9. As far I remember in the mods folder, whatever is the .rpf file where the instructions installations tell to do so. Either way if I am not mistaken if you install any mod out of the mods folder the game won't crash but simply 'update' and reinstall the files.

  10. I've been dealing with this problem for a while now and has basically kept me away from playing V. The problem is that anytime I install a weapon mod, either the basic or the animated ones, the game freezes while loading the single player after the main menu.

It's particularly bugging because after this happens, backup files won't do anything; the game will keep crashing no matter what I do until I reinstall everything.

Any clue of why this may be happening?

Posted those a while back, with a bunch of additional pics of the 1980's Miami from the Miami Herald site, here, if you want to check them out. Thanks for the contribution anyway! By the way, is the last one with the Army guys from the Liberty City riots?

Strike, you've hit a goldmine as far as I'm concerned.  Some of the earliest, and by far the most insightful into the past, episodes are now available.  What's listed as S7E34 is the first half of the two-parter NYPD special from the early 1990s.  Unfortunately it's the one without the elevator and water rescue clips, but it's still great!

Supposedly there was an episode done on the Street Crime Unit as well, but I've yet to find or ever see any clips from that one.

It's kind of annoying the fact that many of them are either missing or have the wrong link, so thanks for the episode reference, I had already given up with that one. On that matter, seems that there's an episode about the NYC Transit Dept as well, but it's unfortunately missing too. I think they may be adding the missing episodes though; when I first posted the link I believe that either the Alaska, Portland and some others weren't even hosted so hopefully every of them will eventually be uploaded.

    Few more pics from Miami.

  12. Great news guys, I've just found a site hosting the old seasons of COPS! Some episodes are missing and the quality isn't the best but hey, it's still better than nothing. This is the site in question, I am not sure if it's against the rules to post it and if that'd be the case I would remove it if asked so. I'd just recommend to use adblock or something like that and antivirus; I haven't got any problem yet but you never know with those video hosting sites.

  15. Back in the San Andreas days there was a bigger focus on American, mostly old, cars. I think it may have something to do with the average age of the modders that are currently active who, in general, belong to newer generations than the ones who were active back in the day, who probably grew up with a bigger influence of those American cars either by real life or cultural references as movies or TV than the later generations have.

Is there any list of the CG callouts yet to be added? Also, which kind of equipament is avaliable for the CG? I have a couple suggestions:

    - The option to deploy the rescue swimmer jumping off the helicopter instead of rapeling down, keeping both deployment options.

    - The option to request an ambulance to evacuate the victim. The ambulance would be dispatched to a nearby place where the helicopter could land, something like a parking lot or such, where the ambulance would pick up the victim and evacuate in to the local hospital. If the events took place somewhere far from Los Santos or the state of the victim doesn't require to be urgently evacuated to the hospital, this would be particularly useful.

About the firefighting part of the mod, in a forest fire scenario, I would suggest the use of inmate fire crews as an additional reinforcement option. I have heard that it's a common practice in the USA, in California in particular, to use prisoners in wildfires. A prison bus could be dispatched, deploying a variation of the regular firefighters with a orangeish looking uniforms. A sheriff patrol car could be dispatched as well, which would keep an eye on them from a safe distance.

This looks pretty good so far, keep it up with the good work, man.
