August 31, 201213 yr On Tuesday night, a routine traffic stop for reckless driving turned out to be a tragedy. Corporal Marshall Bailey of the West Virginia State Police was shot and killed by a drunk 22 year old. Trooper Eric Workman was critically hit and is fighting for his life right now. A Roane County Sheriff Deputy and a tow truck driver were also shot at, but were not seriously injured. The suspect was shot and killed shortly thereafter by a local SWAT team. That's the paraphrased version, here's the local news reports: http://www.wsaz.com/breaking/home/BREAKING-NEWS-Two-WVa-State-Police-Troopers-Shot-167774505.html I know it's not really uncommon for this to happen, but when it happens locally, you feel kind of distressed and heartbroken. I think it takes a special kind of douchebaggery to shoot - much less kill - a police officer. Just thought this might gain some attention of the actual law enforcement personnel on this forum. I know being a police officer is like being part of a family, I've been around enough of them to know that there is a special bond that can never be broken between them.
