  1. Good job on finding those videos for the forum to see. :) The second video you posted is by Andrew Conrad, who I went to school with. Marshall Bailey and Eric Workman will never be forgotten by this state. The last time any police officer by any agency was KIA in West Virginia was in 1993.
  2. "Unit 6-6-5.... Unit 6-6-5... Rest in peace, Trooper Eric Workman. You will not be forgotten." Those words spoken today over the West Virgina State Police frequency somehow managed to knock every ounce of breath out of my body. Even just thinking about it brings a tear to my eye. That was actually the first time I heard a final call. If it's almost too hard for me to handle as a civilian who has nothing but respect for first responders... How does it affect an actual first responder? Man...
  3. The funeral of Corporal Marshall Bailey was today. I didn't go to the funeral, but I did happen to see the funeral procession. I would say over 95 percent of the cars had some form of emergency lighting, either as an actual police or fire vehicle, unmarked vehicle, or civilian with EV permit. Incredible sight to see. Probably over 1000 total cars, too. Just to further mention the brotherhood between police officers: There was an officer that came in from Alaska to pay his respects. 3,200 miles. Incredible.
  4. Unfortunately, I just learned on the local news that the other state trooper, Eric Workman, just passed away. Press release: http://www.wowktv.com/story/19431526/state-trooper-eric-workman-has-passed-away The situation was already sad enough, now we get this news... Man...
  5. On Tuesday night, a routine traffic stop for reckless driving turned out to be a tragedy. Corporal Marshall Bailey of the West Virginia State Police was shot and killed by a drunk 22 year old. Trooper Eric Workman was critically hit and is fighting for his life right now. A Roane County Sheriff Deputy and a tow truck driver were also shot at, but were not seriously injured. The suspect was shot and killed shortly thereafter by a local SWAT team. That's the paraphrased version, here's the local news reports: http://www.wsaz.com/breaking/home/BREAKING-NEWS-Two-WVa-State-Police-Troopers-Shot-167774505.html I know it's not really uncommon for this to happen, but when it happens locally, you feel kind of distressed and heartbroken. I think it takes a special kind of douchebaggery to shoot - much less kill - a police officer. Just thought this might gain some attention of the actual law enforcement personnel on this forum. I know being a police officer is like being part of a family, I've been around enough of them to know that there is a special bond that can never be broken between them.
  6. Hunter - thanks for reminding me! I am using RTC, and I pretty much have to because my roads disappear on me if I dont.. I'll try removing it again and see what happens..
  7. I decided to try out Mirillis Action. It's got a 30 day trial. It's actually really nice, doesn't kill my FPS too much, doesn't eat up too much HD space with the raw video (8 minutes = 1.6 GB, vs Fraps with 3 minutes = 8.5 GB).. It also has a built in encoder which works really fast and doesn't reduce quality at all. 1.6 GB down to 480 MB in about 20 minutes. So, here's my first of hopefully many playthoughs. This was just one traffic stop and a little bit of a description of the mods I'm using. I might need some help updating the actual description, i.e. who made what mod and where to find it... Oh, and my YouTube name is WVgamerman.
  8. My computer sucks at it! Recording is one of the problems. I get 11 to 20 FPS when I'm recording in GTA IV, which is barely playable. Normally I average 25-30. Minecraft is a similar story. I get a massive 150+ FPS not recording, even with setting maxed out, but as soon as I turn Fraps on (even with no frame limit), it drops down to below 20. I record to a 1TB Western Digital external drive. Then comes another problem. The fact that a raw video recording with Fraps is anywhere from 800 MB to 2.5 GB a minute makes it impossible to upload directly, so I have to encode. I tried to encode a 3 minute Minecraft video, raw file was 8.5 GB... It was going to take an hour to encode. I tried to do a .wmv, quality vbr audio and video, 50% quality. No go. I also tried Sony AVC internet 16:9 HD setting.. No go. I'm using Vegas to encode, btw. At one time I tried a 24 minute GTA IV, and it took nearly 20 minutes to get 1 percent done, so I naturally canceled. I know, for one, my processor is junk. Pentium D 925 3.0 GHz Dual Core. I can't OC' it at all, I've tried before. I can't even go up to 3.01 GHz. That's the biggest bottleneck in my system. My motherboard's chipset can take a Pentium D 960 3.6 GHz Dual Core, but the fastest dual-core it can accept from any other series is one of the 2.6 GHz E series processors. Nothing in the modern range, unfortunately. I have 4 GB of PQI Turbo DDR2-667 memory (2x2GB), a HiS ATI Radeon HD3780 1 GB OC edition GPU (800mhz core clock) on PCI x16 2.0, a dedicated sound card (Creative X-Fi SoundBlaster xtreme gamer), my main drive is a 250 GB Western Digital on SATA, I got an internal 500 GB Western Digital for extra storage, and the external 1 TB Western Digital... This computer, to me, is nothing short of amazing though. I can run FSX with 50+ FPS, regular settings high, very high, or max with shadows and reflections disabled.. Even in large cities like NYC, it doesn't drop below 40. When Crysis first came out, I was getting sick 100+ FPS on the highest settings (again, with shadows and reflections off).. Mass Effect (the first one) actually ran better for me with shadows on, but I managed only 35 to 40 there. Halo 2 PC also gives me incredible FPS, all setting max (even shadows and reflections.) Long story short, this computer is a beast, but it's still not that great, and it makes me sad, especially knowing the only thing I can do is pretty much get a new one, which I'll probably never have the money for.. < I have higher priorities in life than an awesome computer, like keeping food on the table and the lights on. Is there by chance anything I can do to make it possible for me to do this?
  9. Ohh, From Dust is on the list. Did they ever manage to fix it on PC? I remember when it was first ported to PC, it was a TERRIBLE failure. No settings. 30 FPS cap... If they actually got it working, I'll shell out the dollar for it. But if not, forget it. I noticed HAWX 2 is on the list, as well. I have that game and it is extremely fun. Kinda like the Ace Combat series, but different.

  12. Realistic Time Cycle V5 got rid of the missing building problem for me: http://gtapolicemods.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=1649 However, the mod not starting at all is a different problem... Post your specs for us to look at, and also run the diagnostic tool from here:
  13. Are you using modded car files? Some car files don't have non-ELS lights, some do. One car in my car pack won't work at all with the / command, but works fine with ELS. midnight900 got it right, though. J should turn on your main lightbar, and K will turn on the secondaries.
  14. Really? I haven't seen anything about those command lines not working in 1.0.7.0.. They do seem to have done something though, because I reinstalled the Ultimate HD Car Pack again and it's working without a hitch. Can still run LCPDFR without any problems for quite awhile. Long story short, I think I got everything configured the way I want it to be. Thanks for the feedback on the OP, btw. I thought I lost it once when I accidentally pressed backspace outside the post window, but thanks to this forum's auto save feature, I didn't have to rewrite a single bit of it.
  15. Last night I added -norestrictions and -nomemrestrict to my command line file, and reinstalled ELS with a NYPD police car pack.. It all works perfectly, now. I don't know if those command lines had anything to do with it or not, but it seems like it did. I'm not going to go all out with a total conversion car pack, yet, until I know I got everything tweaked correctly. BTW, Just so everyone knows, I'm just a regular civilian IRL. I don't have any ties to the police, got a few police friends, but that's about it. I'm just a video game enthusiast who is looking to get some more fun out of my older games.
  16. Yeah, I can't stand when people ask for something and don't bother to look. It's the internet, chances are it's already happened hundreds of times before.. I'm messing around with some car mods again, just to see what works and what doesn't.. I've yet to find one that's completely compatible.. :-/
  17. First off, let me say that LCPDFR is probably the best mod for any game that I've ever seen. It's incredibly fun, has tons of replay value, and really breathes new life into GTA IV. This post is essentially what happened when I tried to install and play this mod. Could be helpful to some new guys, I don't know. It's probably long compared to other threads here. Anyway, my experience got off to a rocky start. I installed the mod - no errors during installation. Try to play, gets to the black loading screen and stays. Research this for 15 minutes, find out you need a fresh save. Delete all my old saves. Loaded the game. This time, it loads! So, I complete the mission where you drive from the dock to the safehouse. Go outside, hit Alt+P, run to the police station. So far so good. 3 minutes in, I pull someone over and the scripts crash. Researched this for half an hour. Found out this might be caused by a car addon, which I had. Since I consider myself an experienced gamer, I keep backups of original files if I'm modding. Doesn't matter if I'm playing the original Roller Coaster Tycoon or Sim City 4, whatever, always backup the original file. Transfer that back in. Load it up. Works fine - until I go to the character select. It freezes up. Wouldn't let me select a character. Wouldn't let me move. Went to the ` menu and did reloadscripts, which worked. Tried to go back in, didn't work. Give up for about an hour. Decide to try dsound instead of xliveless - wouldn't even load the game. Update xliveless to the latest version - bingo. This time, I was able to play the mod without problems. So, I decided to try to make it much more realistic. I got the ELS mod, plus a vehicle pack (ultimate hd car pack) which claimed to be compatible with LCPDFR. Cue a whole bunch of other problems. One thing was it seemed my world was overrun with taxis. As I had a previous vehicle pack - I already had the fix for this (trafficload.asi) which worked. Then I noticed was roads and buildings not loading properly. They would eventually load, but it took awhile, and I ended up crashing a lot before hand. I also starting having problems with the character and vehicle select again. If I made it as far as pulling someone over, the scripts would stop working again. Research this for a little bit and find a solution for the roads and buildings - I forgot the name of it already, but it was a shader package I found on this forum. Not only did it fix the building problem, bit made the game look a lot better and run smoother. The problems kept happening, though. Upon some intensive research, I found that any mod to the law enforcement vehicles -may- cause problems, so, unfortunately, I removed the very beautiful Ultimate HD Car Pack. I wasn't giving up on ELS, though. I thought it was neat being able to do random things with your lights. So, I found some modded original emergency vehicles - the only thing that was changed with them was ELS compatibility. Loaded them in. Fired the game up. Played for a few minutes. Scripts crashed. Some more intensive research led me to find that ELS -may- be causing some problems. So, I removed ELS and reloaded the original vehicle files. But before I loaded the game back up, I still wanted more... I found Braveheart's Policing System here on this forum and thought it'd be worth a shot. Installed that mod, fired the game up. After all of that, I just successfully completed an approx. 2 hour gaming session with no game crashes, no script crashes, and no missing buildings or roads. All of the Alt+ and Ctrl+ commands worked, as did the F9-F12 commands. The Braveheart System commands worked wonderfully as well. I don't know what ultimately fixed my woes with this mod, but I can say it was well worth the effort. Anyway, I also use the simplenativetrainer, which doesn't cause any problems... As long as I turn it off before going on duty. Maybe I should disable the shortcuts so I can run it all the time? Long story short, I am extremely pleased with this mod. I am also impressed with the amount of help you can find on this forum - just by doing simple searches. That just proves this mod has a great development team, and an excellent fanbase. If there are car packs that don't interfere with LCPDFR, let me know! I'm all about pushing GTA IV to it's limits. Thanks a lot for this mod. It's almost too much fun. /tl:dr
