FPS Drop after starting LSPDFR

Featured Replies

Hello. Whenever I GTA V on it's own without LSPDFR/Mods running, I get about 60+ FPS. But, when I start LSPDFR and all the mods start coming in, it drops the FPS down to 25-30 FPS. Note, I do have a lot of mods installed, but they are mostly callout packs, and some Albo mods as well. Any fix or suggestions of what I should do? It's not fun running 25-30 FPS and trying to patrol with all of the stuttering and lag. Also, I usually don't lag in Blaine County, or some other part of the map than Los Santos, and also at night.

it's normal when you're running LSPDFR, the FPS will drop into half.

it's because of rockstar anti-modding protection which affects RagePluginHook.

Basically,

When you've got scripts running in your game, chances are that "things" are happening in one of two ways.

  • on event
  • on tick

Don't worry about events. On Tick, simply means, every time the game renders a frame (this definition can vary depending on game engine etc, but this definition will do for explaining this).

Lets say you want to check whether the user is within 5 meters of the bar area of Tequi-la-la's. To do that, every time the game renders a frame (lets say sixty times a second), you need to run a function that says (pseudo code)...

if (Player.DistanceTo(tequilaBar) <= 5f) thenDoSomething();

Now, that's a really simple, fairly un-taxing call to make. Now imagine, you've got to check whether or not the next callout is triggered, the position of AI vehicles that are being managed by the plugin, any events being raised by callout plugins etc. Every second. This is generally why framerate will drop when running LSPDFR (especially with additional callout packs etc).

Now, @LMS (and the development team) is and incredibly talented programmer, and I'm sure that he's found ways of dealing with this to optimise the experience as best he can. But there's always going to be some kind of framerate impact.

With callout plugins, you find that (even with the ones following the best practices) they are often not perfectly optimised for the way that LSPDFR handles them. Which is why you'll see a more exponential drop when using these.

Anywho, I hope this has settled your query somewhat 🙂
