Concept: Rank System

Featured Replies

I would think having a rank system would be an amazing idea. It would go by character so having multiple characters would be recommended if you plan on playing with multiple departments. You would start off as a cadet where you would mainly be limited to one car and not able to take any calls. Once you hit Officer I/Deputy I/Trooper I, you would be able to take traffic callouts. I will let the community decide the rest of the ranks and the ideas.

Interesting idea.  I think rookies go along with a training officer for a while until they are on their own.  My cousin is CHP but I forgot what he said about how he started out.  When you are in training you might be the passenger with your trainer driving and I don't think you want to be the passenger the way AI cops drive, especially while they're in pursuit.  🤣

I'd like some sort of money or experience/rank system - as long as it was customizable and/or controllable. I find it strange that I still have a lot of leftovers from my single player save.

First thing's first, though - fixes, API, databases and core systems need to be rock solid. Options for the player need to be laid out - XMLs need helpful comments to guide users.

I've heard the project moves very slowly - I hope things are getting rolling, as I don't think it needs to take 3 years to get the community's feedback and get a few sprints in for some fixes and laying out a roadmap for future updates and changes.

People have brought up rank systems before. The problem with rank systems is that realistically, the higher rank you are, the less hands on you are and the more you direct others.

Also, being limited to certain cars/weapons can already be accomplished by people wanting to play that way.

On the idea of not being able to respond to certain calls, the goal has always been to put the player in the shoes of a standard patrol officer, which responds to just about every call someone could possibly think of, whether it's just to do the primary task or to do secondary tasks, such as perimeters. Even rookies show up to those calls because they have to learn how to handle them at some point.

Overall, it would be a lot of work put into something unrealistic that would appeal to a very small minority of players. I don't see it happening.
