Some stuff - questions/suggestions

Featured Replies

Finally got around to starting to mess with LSPDFR - I had some general comments and questions about some things:

  1. Is it possible to map mouse buttons to various inputs in the game with just LSPDFR? It'd be really nice to have at least two functions on the extra mouse buttons instead of reaching over, especially when you're busy with several things at once.
  2. Every setting in the setting menu should have a descriptive tooltip.
  3. The global settings in the settings menu should be configurable with the mouse.
  4. The N key shares both voice function in the normal game and for pursuit.
  5. If a menu command requires a special modifier, it should have (hold) in the text. Example:  "Terminate pursuit (hold)"
  6. Is it possible to have a quick-backup key that will summon the most relevant backup unit during a pursuit/stop?
  7. Are there settings I could change that govern how long certain actions may take?
  8. Could there be more attention to the context zones/requirements for stopping PEDS/Vehicles - perhaps some way of showing what you are pointing at combined with what you are attempting to do? It seems tough to stop a PED in shouting range when they are docile or not facing you perfectly.

I'll start with those for now - I have a lost of testing and messing around to do, but my goal is to stabilize the base experience before deciding what should be modded and what shouldn't.

1. Sort of, the plugins need to have .ini files you can edit.
2. This probably wont happen because GTAV modding is meant for advanced users when it comes to tweaking .inis.
3. That's a GTAV issue not LSPDFR I think.
4. You can unbind ingame mic button and any other default key by going into the settings ingame.
5. Some plugins already do this, once again requires editing the .ini file.
6. Back up key by default is B. You can use Ultimate Backup mod to replace or use in combination with to call specific back up.
7. Not yet, i think.
8. Pulling people over is buggy af with original LSPDFR but if you can get LSPDFR+ to work, it fixes thoses problems. But I have found it is unstable. StopThePed will help you with pedestrians and pulling people out of vehicles at gun point.

Check out my thread for a stable build and ongoing testing. Hope this helps, good luck with your testing!

Thanks for that - helps a bit.

1. Figured out how to fix up key assignments for most mods, but I'm unsure if I can bind to the *mouse*. Would appreciate some help on that topic.

2. It's pretty clear LSPDFR found a way to add menus and menu items - why not extend them to include tooltips and descriptions, as well as the capability for plugins to display their own controls?

5. I mean in the sense that the UI needs to show that much more clearly - it doesn't even match functionality between plugins, which SHOULD conform to a standard.

6. I noticed in your post that you deleted ArrestManager and kept StopThePED. I'm going to try this, as Those two mods have made getting ID and processing PEDS a chaotic and buggy mess.

The basic Process I'm trying to get down without problem:

Pull over

Run plate

Run the RO (can't - the computer often doesn't work.)

Get out
Greet the PED (there's at least 3 ways to do this with LSPDFR and +, STP, and AM - they all jam into each other!)

Get ID (This causes problems, as the various mods have trouble tracking if you've gotten ID information nor not once you mod past the base mod)

Do things
Run the ID in computer (doesn't work with my current config, I end up leaning on the SmartPoliceRadio which cheats a little.)

Charge PEDS/Cite them with anything (Also tough right now for me, as + is limited or I'm missing possible crimes.)

Dismiss (Some mods auto dismiss on Citation, some dismiss only once dismissed.)

Check Court Later (Nothing happens...only specific callouts trigger court? IDK)

I feel like, without telling all the tracing of bugs and experiences I've had so far, that one of the big problems with LSPDFR and plugins is that there's little documentation about how it all works, how plugins should USE systems and what standards they should conform to in terms of how controls and contexts should work. There should be serious effort on this - because it seems like I have 3 mods that do the same thing and getting in each other's way despite wanting to support each other's functionality - all because LSPDFR isn't strongly defining or structuring how the game/system is supposed to work.

Anyways, I'm sure I'll figure out more as I keep searching. As someone with programming skills, I feel like I could help if I'm able to.

I agree it's bonkers but once you work it out it's not to bad. Let me go through the process you want to go through and how I do it with my list.

Pull over: LeftShift on person I want to pull over. They may slow down and pull over or run, if they are going to pull over I use the CTRL + R mimic function from Traffic Policer to move them into a better position if they're in a bad one.
Runplate: I run the plates through PoliceSmartRadio, there is a check plate button in there.. or should be 😆

Get out: Yep
Get ID: I use the normal interaction for this from LSPDFR this way you don't just get all there info and flags etc. Just using E. But sometimes I will question them with the Interaction+ Y menu before I ask for ID. Asking questions like "Do you know why I pulled you over" & "Do you own this vehicle (if they seem nervous or it's come up as another sex's vehicle on the run plate check)
Do things: Yep
Run the ID in the computer: I use Y from Interaction+ in the LEO car, it brings up the latest IDs you've searched including vehicles. (basically simulating that I'm typing it into the computer)

Charge PEDS/Cite them: I use Y menu from Interaction+ in the LEO car to write arrest/citation/summons. (Simulating using the computer)
Dismiss: Either use Y or E menus.
Check Court Later: Only happens on the callout of known drug runners and they decide to start running, they will drop drugs out of the car and you can press 9 to mark spots on the map where you've seen em drop it, when and/or if you finally catch them it will ask if you saw evidence being discarded with Y/N. Press Y and you can go back, collect the evidence then once you've collected everything you saw hold down 0 and it goes to a court case animation and you see how long they are jailed and what they are charged with!

Hope this helps.
