Pavy 653 Posted November 4, 2018 We can upload pictures but can't take them down? Is that intended? I just realized this. It's pretty dumb if we can't delete them. 5 RedBullGermany, RogueThunder, Maurice97 and 2 others reacted to this Quote Hide Pavy's signature Hide all signatures
J T 1583 Posted November 4, 2018 its ridiculous the moderators need to change that, any other forum we are aloud to delete images when we want but nooo not here, so many pictures i want to delete but i do not want to have to ask mommy and daddy to delete them 1 Pavy reacted to this Quote Hide J T's signature Hide all signatures
willpv23 1803 Posted November 4, 2018 Cyan can correct me on this, but I'm pretty sure it's a technical limitation. There isn't just an option to allow you to delete your own images, only the moderator option to be able to delete all images. Hence why we let you report your own images for a moderator to delete. The system in the files section of the site, where you can hide and delete your own files, is entirely custom made. Edit: @willpv23 It also seems like a waste of time for a moderator to use their time to delete someone's images.. I don't really think it needs to be written anywhere. I agree it's a waste of time, but as I said it isn't as simple as just flipping a switch. Cyan 3579 Posted November 4, 2018 I'll clarify a bit of our stance around this. We (mostly) don't delete anything instantly on LCPDFR.com. The reason for this mostly stems from legal requirements and keeping an audit log to track forms of abuse. Anything that appears deleted is usually hidden and accessible by staff for a retention period before it is deleted permanently. I think at the time it wasn't an option in our software to allow a user to hide images, but only delete them. In the case of the Christmas porn spam we had a while back, this would have allowed the people involved to delete the evidence of what they did. However, this might have changed as I have seen an administrative option for allowing people to hide images now. We'll look into it but if it's not as simple as it just working for us we won't be able to dedicate any development time to this at the moment due to other priorities. 1 hour ago, Pav500 said: Where is this written? I mean it's not written either that you can't delete your posts and images without moderator intervention, so we assumed that by extension people would grasp images/albums aren't either. I'll clarify this on the upload page. Edit: Just to add, we never refuse to delete images or albums. You don't have to report them individually, you can just report an album or image and put in the comments what you want deleted. We don't try to make this difficult. 1 JAM reacted to this

You mentioned a christmas porn scandal where users deleted evidence, which is why now gallery images can't be deleted by the uploader. But if someone uploads a porn image attachment to a thread or a malicious attachment they can easily delete the evidence Edited November 8, 2018 by Pavy Quote Hide Pavy's signature Hide all signatures

While you could do that, gallery images are shown very prominently at the top of the site. People doing nothing but just visiting the index could stumble upon it. Areas where attachments are accepted are usually less prominently shown on the site.
