The latest updated version of RAGE Plugin Hook, required to play LSPDFR, can be found inside the LSPDFR download. It is not currently available on the RAGE Plugin Hook website.

Odd performance.

I know there's a ton of threads on how LSPDFR and plugins affect GTA as a whole, but I'm in a pretty sticky situation..

(Specs are shown at the bottom in the form of a link to a benchmark)

Average system resources used when in GTA:

2.9GB RAM usage

22% CPU usage (GTA does spread load evenly across all 24 cores, they turbo to around 2.95GHz, no cores are parked)

2.2GB VRAM usage (Under 1GB when trying to see if it's the game itself causing issues with my GPU, 1360x768 with all low)

For some reason when I have vanilla GTA I will get fine fps (as expected low of  54, high of 97), but the second LSPDFR or plugins come into play my GPU has some kind of a weird stroke.

Now the best way for me to explain this is by graphs, let's say I ran the benchmark on vanilla GTA and got great results, this is what my GPU looks like:

Spoiler

wow.PNG.377f45b95942b1a2886923aa76a12c6a.PNG

(This was taken from "Hunter Call of the Wild" on high without AA as a reference)

(I use full Population Density / Variety & textures on High with no AA/AF/Low-Med Shadows/Low Water/Low Reflections)

Now let's say I add LSPDFR and plugins into the mix..:

Spoiler

retarded.thumb.PNG.6230763ca60655bc0ecc422c800ce229.PNG

For some reason my GPU decides to underclock to base clocks a ton, GPU usage spikes, and power usage drops to around 13-15W most of the time.

Now I thought this was a driver issue, but it's not. It runs fine in other games and even GTA vanilla, but not in GTA with plugins.

Here's a benchmark I did with userbenchmark as a reference and a list of my hardware:

http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/10256974

I've no idea why, but when LSPDFR and plugins come into play my GPU just decides to lose it's sanity.

This then means I get a whopping 25FPS at 1360x768 lowest.

Could anyone shed some light on why this happens? Here's my plugin list:

Spoiler

Cop Holster

DashCamV

DropTheWeapon

FootPursuitAid

MoreControlV

PoliceToolbox

SirenMastery

Arrest Manager

Computer+

Better EMS

Vocal Dispatch

ALPR+

Assorted Callouts

Callouts V

Keep Calm

LSPDFR+

PoliceSearch

Traffic Policer

More Radio Chatter

Any help is greatly appreciated, I just want a stable experience without having to lose much functionality in LSPDFR.

EDIT-

I reduced my plugins and removed all plugins by Albo to see if that would help, though it only gained 5fps.

For some reason when I am not in the city my GPU is utilized properly and my FPS shoots upto 50-60 and the graphs show stable usage like the first graph in this thread however, nearing the city again will cause it to flip out again.

I'm entirely lost on this and have no idea what is causing this, but I guess I'll just have to stick to sandy shores for the time being.

i'm curious to see the graph when only clean lspfr running (without plugins)

also try to remove keep calm. it impacts and drops my fps a lot especially in city area.

To echo the post above, I'm pretty sure KeepCalm checks and manipulates every ped every tick, which would definitely cause huge performance issues, especially in populated areas. Removing that would probably be your first step.

This is normal, the plugins use alot of your CPU

This isn't CPU related...

Alrighty, will post results of 100% LSPDFR only.

It is. It's not using your CPU at 100% like you could imagine, it's just overloading the queue with too many things.

Don't lose your time with bench, you can get rid of all your problems by removing Albo's plugins (Mainly Arrest Manager, Traffic Policer that do A LOT of things in the background).

But as you can't play correctly without them... you'll stay with fps loss 🙂

Please read the post, the cause of my FPS loss is my GPU improperly clocking.

I'm on Xeons, I wouldn't expect it to use 100% of 2 x5650s.

But it does spread evenly across all 24 threads.

Whenever GPU clocks correctly at 1435 core and 2K mem I get 90 fps, otherwise it proceeds to downclock (as shown in orange on the GPU core clock) and I lose 50 frames.

Average FPS with 0 plugins is 40-50FPS on lowest in 1360x768, High drops it back down to 20 (No AA/AF/Reflections/Shadows).

I know the GPU down clocks based on load, but it clocking higher at times and giving me good FPS doesn't really make sense.

I tried MSI Afterburner to remove ULPS but that just caused clocks to be even more randomized.

Baiscally, it's better without plugins, right?

The only difference between vanilla & running LSPDFR with 0 plugin is the presence of RPH.

When you run LSPDFR, you run RPH to hook into GTA V. Can you run RPH but uncheck LSPDFR plugin. (RPH with 0 plugins) ? and seee the graph.

Also you haven't posted the graph when you run vanilla GTA V only.

In my PC, I'm using MSI afterburner to monitor my CPU & GPU usage... on average they are stable at around 60-75%.

It's weird that you got the GPU downclocked...

Are you using Vsync? did you set some configuration on NVIDIA inspector?

As I've posted on another thread, my PC spec is i5 kabylake, 16GB RAM, GTX1070 and I can play LSPDFR with stable 60FPS everywhere with installed all Albo & BejoIjo plugins and several popular callouts.

I'm still using GTA patch 1180 & RPH 0.57.

When I'm upgrading GTA to patch later than 1180 & RPH 0.57, I got massive performance drop (10-20fps) with the same installed plugins & mods.

Thant's why I stick with the old patch.

So, I'm assuming you're using the latest patch & RPH.

Not a surprise if you're having such performance issue, because I guess the recent RPH & GTA patches are not sync properly.. or there's some bottleneck when RPH tries to hook GTA rendering process because of some additional protection by Rockstar.

Yeah I'm on latest.

I'm not using vSync, and this is an entirely clean install of Windows itself.

So no, I haven't touched NVIDIA inspector.

I'll get a vanilla graph when I'm back home.

Here are some FPS test results to compare performance between patch1180+RPH0.57 vs patch1439+RPH0.63:

  • Patch 1180 vanilla: 125 fps
  • Patch 1180 with LSPDFR: 76 fps
  • Patch 1439 vanilla: 124 fps
  • Patch 1439 with LSPDFR: 64 fps

So, basically I lost around 12 fps when using the latest GTA V patch 1439.

To maintain smooth 60 fps gameplay, we need at least 70 fps average because the game might consume another 5-10 fps on some scenes/situations.

One interesting thing that related to your problem is the GPU usage when running LSPDFR.

GPU usage on patch1180 is 67%, whereas on patch1439 is only 57%. That's most probably caused the FPS drop because somehow the game doesn't use all GPU power (bottleneck maybe).

If we see the vanilla GTA, GPU is fully used (98%)
