when i start my game the graphics r on the lowest setting and i only get little snippets of the map and it wont let me change the graphics really annoying... :sad:

You might need a bigger graphics card for your compter.

what's your spec's? it might not only be the graphic's card, this game is VERY power hungry, my gut tell's me you may need a whole new computer

then i see two options...1) get job....buy own computer....or 2) put it on the wishlist for birthday or christmas (if you celebrate it)

he might not be old enough to get a job if his mom won't let him get a new one, my suggestion, go around offering to do odd job's around your neighbourhood, you make pretty decent cash doing that, then save up and buy a new one anyway's, not like your mom is paying for it then,

as for a birthday present, when i was a wee lad i was lucky to get a chocolate bar for my birthday let alone a computer lol

I wouldn't suggest a laptop, get a desktop, a PC, not a mac. Most mid-level computers now are capable of running IV at decent settings. My PC I got a over year ago, it was $900/$1000ish I think. Its a HP pavilion Elite HPE and I can run IV on full 1080 resolution but the frame rate is kind of bad so I run the settings a little lower than that. I'm not that good with specs and all that stuff but someone else will be able to tell you more
