[Request] ELS alternative

Featured Replies

ELS seems to be dead and it seems it will not receive any more updates.  Despite this, I would consider it unfinished.  We need access to more audio strings so we can have, for instance, a proper fire truck siren with a fire truck, and not police sirens.

We also could very much use a functionality to allow AI to drive lights-only.

Considering this, how difficult would it be to develop an ELS alternative?  I would think it could be coded to use the exact same VCF format that already exists, ensuring compatibility with current ELS vehicles, but with the possibility to add in these needed functionalities.

@Asahammer ELS isn't dead. The developer just never updates it for sometimes years on end. People most likely won't make an ELS alternative. Someone did once and it didn't go great... or well what-so-ever and it ended up getting taken down. I agree with the disappointment on ELS. I thought we would have more features, improvements, etc from GTA IV. Best I can recommend is Siren Mastery.

Yall are disappointed with one of the best breakthroughs in GTA lighting options ever to be created. By a guy who does it for free in his spare time. All because you can't do everything with it.

Siren mastery will solve your problem. Being disappointed with ELS for that would be like being disappointed in LSPDFR because it doesn't just auto include all the other script mods you have to add to it to be fun.

Visit me on youtube. The most common reason for crashing is user error. Make sure you have the latest RAGE, ScripthookV, ScripthookVdotnet and turn off your antivirus. Make sure you have an up to date gameconfig.xml as well. Use Allbo's plugin troubleshooter to find any errors too.

In response the creator of ELS has real life obligations just like any other adult. Lt. Caine has always been good about coming out with great updates. He's not going to update a mod every week, plus he uses his free time to make a free mod for every one to enjoy. I am more than sure it will be updated.

Please do not say "yall" including me.  I never said I was disappointed.  It is obviously an ingenious mod.  I said I consider it unfinished and it is dead, i.e. it seems it will not be updated.  That is not an insult and takes nothing away from what has already been done with it.

I understand, but in that case, it would be really appreciated if he would just open source it.  I don't think it's unreasonable not to expect it to be updated considering how long it's been since an update and considering Lt Caine does not post anywhere and seems to be inactive.

True, I'm sure a lot of people wished he opened sourced it, but the end of the day he created it so he's going to do what he wants to do.

Of course, I only say that on these forums in the hopes that he might see it, see there is demand for it, and open source it after all.
