I'm not in the States but all I know is driving records are usually there for a long time. Sometimes permanent. Changing it prob will not help remvoe records but then again I'm not in the States.

For now my only advice is to wait it out for a few years and uhh try not to cause any troubles on the road.

As stated already, your best bet is to contact the DMV. You're going to get a hundred different answers here and none of them could be right, as things vary on the state and country.

So for instance when I was on a traffic enforcement unit. Most violators I stopped had points on their license. Here in Georgia the points stay on your record for a minimum of 2 years. Now the tickets you have gotten stay on your record, and doesn't get removed. I have stopped people in the past, and their speeding ticket from 1980 was on their full driving record.

example:

I ran someones Georgia License it came back valid, it would also show their out of state drivers license number on it. When I would run the out of state it would show suspended. The driver was arrested and charged due to the suspended license supersedes the valid license.

-- My point behind this is at least in Georgia when you change states they will post your old drivers license info on your current license. But any job that has to do with driving I'm more than positive they will ask you the ticket question along with have you had any licenses in any other states etc. ..

So if your profile is right Rhode Island your points will be on your record for a minimum of 3 years. Also if your obtain your driving record its just going to show the last 3 years. Obviously law enforcement can go way beyond the 3 years, but IF YOU  have to submit a driving record from the dmv to the business then they are only going to give you the last 3 years.

You can't just "change your license to another state" without moving to that state. You have to be licensed in the state in which you live. If you do move to another state, I believe the standard amount of time to get licensed in that state is 30 days.
