Would there ever be a ranking system?

Recommended Posts

Hello, friends. I was wondering if LSPDFR would ever have a ranking system? As of right now, it is super great, I would just like to be rewarded for wasting my life on this mod (in a good way), instead of starting it up every day the same as it was yesterday, with no such progression.

A big TY in advance.

I wouldn't mind having a ranking system as well.  Realistically, however, I'm not sure how possible it is.  For starters, it'd require developing a whole system centered around ranking up or down depending on your actions.   Second, are we talking about this being implemented into LSPDFR itself?   That might be a bit too much work, especially if you're wanting it to be in depth.  Not to mention, how would it work in terms of tracking?  Would a system be in place that tracks your every move in the game that ultimately affects your rank?

I do like the idea, but given the limitations, I could see this being more viable as a standalone program, similar to how Paperwork Plus is.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

It could be something as simple as giving you points towards a rank, and at a certain amount of points you rank up. If a suspect in custody dies or you kill an innocent or fail a job you lose points, so it wouldn't be as simple as completing missions. There would be more thought around it, but it doesn't have to necessarily be ridiculously complex

Doesn't LSPDFR+ track this already?

If it was connected to a server, one could easily start ranking players according to their game hours / arrests. However I don't know the limitations and wether @Albo1125 is even interested in something like that. Running a server like that is also a matter of money.

Unless I'm mistaken, LSPDFR+ just tracks your arrests stats, etc.  Doesn't do anything on the ranking front.

Yeah from my understanding LSPDRFR+ just gives blank points and tracks limited things. Doesn't do much at all.

As for the server cost, yeah, guess you're right.. Shame though, cause ranks would be awesome.

But as far as I remember, online crime statistics used to be a native feature in the times of LCPDFR and GTA IV.
I don't know how many of you were around back then, but you used to be able to view your stats online and compare them to other players. Which pretty much ammounts to a ranking system.

I don't know why it was ultimately ditched, probably because of the data size. Maybe @Cyan can give some more infos, i'm kinda curious now.

Something similar might return for LSPDFR. The previous system was ultimately abandoned because it became very complex to maintain (there were numerous servers, code written in a mix of PHP/node.js/C#). There is an effort for a new system that would be much simpler for us to maintain behind the scenes.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
