Now that photobucket no longer allows third party hosting...

Featured Replies

Well, for those who use it and may still no be aware of it, I've just found out that the site Photobucket has changed their policies and no longer allows third party hosting unless you pay for it. Since Imageshack did the move some years ago, I've been uploading many of the pictures I post here and elsewhere there and thus they don't work anymore.

Even if I am not as active here and in modding in general as I used to be, I still would like to have my content uploaded and fully working. Most of the stuff I would like to restore is uploaded in my gallery; there, there's uploaded either pictures and the textures of the mods showcased. The problem is that when you edit a picture of your gallery, it automatically seem to be sent to the frontpage of the gallery, which would be kind of a dick move, especially for those users who are uploading new content and would get buried with older content of a lesser relevance.

So my question here is if there is any way so I can edit the pictures of my gallery, fixing embeded pictures and stuff with working urls, without them being posted back to the frontpage of the gallery.

Cheers.

Out of curiosity, what are you referring to? Uploading new photos from photobucket here? Editing will put your stuff to the front of the gallery but I don't see how you would need to edit to upload new images?

I used to upload more than one picture in my posts so, aside from the main picture uploaded to the forum gallery, I uploaded the additional pictures to an image hosting -in this case photobucket- and then embed them in the post.

Hence, now that photobucket has changed their terms of service, those additional pictures are broken and no longer work, so I would like to change those; reupload and embed them again using the new working url from a different hosting. And, for that, I need to edit the description of the pictures that is where I inserted them -I often added the textures I used there, instead of making a whole new post in the downloads section, to keep my content centralized-. So I believe that could be bothersome for other users to have this content, which may no longer be relevant, on the front of the gallery.

See, this is what I mean.

You could use imgur, that's what I've always used as image hosting.

Yeah, that's where I was thinking to move my pictures tol. However, I had heard that it had some issues with high quality pictures or something, would it really be a good choice to upload textures there?

I don't think I've had issues. I've uploaded massive photos to them and haven't really had issues. I know to see full resolution you sometimes need to either open in new tab or save the image.
