HELP!! "Could not hook game process."

Recommended Posts

As the title states, I get an error code that states "Could not hook game process.  Insufficient permissions or bad anti-virus.

First, let me start off by saying that I have tried everything under the sun to fix this 6-month issue.  I've researched, done all the remedies for this issue, completely uninstalled everything on my computer and rebooted it with a fresh install and nothing has worked.  I've gone into my security, disabled it, added exclusions, ran everything as an administrator and still nothing.  Very frustrating.  It worked great for several months then all of a sudden I got that error message.  If anyone knows how to fix this and maybe remotely access my computer to fix the problem, I will gladly pay you $20 through Paypal for your time.  Just let me know.

Go into Rage hook and change the plugin loader to only loading lspdfr on startup. Anything else as far as plugins you can just load when you get in the game. Good luck.

There may be an antivirus you may not know about running in the background. It happens where you sometimes don't know which products are on your pc when you get it at first. Look through everything and try to find another antivirus software. I had the problem too

I've gone through everything on my computer and cannot find any other anti-virus protection.  I have windows defender and have disabled it in the past to see if that would work and it does not.

Did you download RPH with the LSPDFR download or did you install it direct from their site? If you installed it from LSPDFR, delete those files and install it from RPH's site.

What I had to do is I was using a copy of the game which kept RAGE from running. Use the copy of the game for any files you need to replace which is what I do, use the copy you downloaded from Steam or whatever else you downloaded the game from. This is what was wrong with mine, hope it works for you

Spoiler

ALRIGHT, I FIXED IT.

I did three things, but I am not sure which one of them was the life saver. I installed RAGE Native UI, I installed Albo's dll, and I also renamed the main folder's name to Grand Theft Auto V. This worked for me, at least.

I AM ALSO HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. Been sitting at my computer for literally the past 48 hours almost non stop and have yet to figure it out. I have re-installed the game itself 3-4 times now, messed with every possible setting for rage, scripthook, etc etc, watched probably 50+ videos on "how to fix" to no avail, and read god knows how many threads and forums and yet, here I am. PLEASE ADVISE OF SOLUTION!!

thank you

I had the same issue earlier today.

I have a second game installation where all my mods are kept. I had my vanilla install named as "Grand Theft Auto V" in the "Steam/steamapps/common" folder. RPH was trying to run from my modded folder which was named something entirely different and it launched the game. But because Steam was using the unmodded install, it couldn't hook the game because the was no way to hook it in the first place.

TL;DR: If your game directory is not named "Grand Theft Auto V" (either in Steam or Rockstar's install directory) then it wont work.

Don't know why though, it's never done this before to me - even with my modded folder named something else.

No joke, I've reinstalled windows 8 along with everything else as if it was a new computer, disabled my firewall and anti virus, nothing. Bought a brand new copy of GTA to bypass Steam, nothing. I still get the same message. If someone would remote access my computer and fix this, I will make it worth your while, BELEIVE ME.  I just want to play friggen LSPDFR. Haven't been able to play for over 6 months.
