CAN WE Please have NON-ELS Versions also?, of Cars?

Featured Replies

I know, every1 lovs ELS..pretty pretty lights, I tried it a second time today...nogo. and it did load but it slowed my computer sooo much, and the documentation!!!, I copied a whole page of this an that k, l, m, o, I and then alt this n that..jesus..

aint 90% of support questions on ELS??. Back in GTA IV I stayed away from ELS cars, just too many people have probs an its just too dang complicated an resource hogging, everyone got a bunch a 30-50mb cars with ELS an u wonder why u have probs w game?

SO can we have non-els versions also? P-L-E-A-S-E, purty Please??. Im perfectly happy with the lights as is in game, they are not my biggest fascination when playing, not why I play a cop. to see pretty lights an different patterns.

But in IV they use to offer both versions, can we please do that here? offer both? els and non-els? I found only one car don't have it.

There are tons of really nice models that are not ELS. Only the newly released content is ELS.

Lots of the new vehicle released are also released with non ELS lightbars. To find them you just need to go through a few pages first in the model section. Maybe try past like page 10 or so.

I understand you but the problem for me and I guess some other model authors is that making a Non-ELS model is way harder and more time consuming then doing an ELS model, I'm kinda fine with the default look and control of the lights either but they are a real pain to work with sometimes, ELS is way easier to work with

Ok couth-sorry.

olddutch- I did find nice non-els charger an Tahoe in the back pages thanks, I threw the Tahoe in only like 10-11mb an gots sidestep lights...Its Great!, windows don't break but well  that's ok, 'sides that it looks good, runs good, handles good, thanks, thought Id been all thru cars I must have given up after a first 10 or so pages all ELS.

11john11, REALLY??, its harder?? wow, well.. then maybe respond to my Q bout ELS in support then, I could use your help if youre familiar w ELS that well.

Im sure its something small Im overlooking, ie: xml not in right folder..

im not here to argue , but the ELS has an .ini file in which u can lower the ELS settings and furthermore maybe lower your settings in game as well .. but my guess is if you cant run ELS without lag then ur prob on some old hardware , heck i have 3 year old hardware , (older if u count rebrand) and my system still maxes out 1080p

ELS and Non ELS cars are the same difficulty to install in game but ive never made a non els so dont know if they are harder to make.

IF your having to change abunch of files or edit files other than .YTD for a car (aka textures or skins) than somethings not right lol , my ELS cars come with 3 main files , both .yfts for installing car and a .ytd for its textures and all 3 are drag and drop with instructions . Another 4th file is included for the ELS istelf and again drag and drop .

And Sometimes i will include a 5th file but the 5th or extra file , is for car skins , so say i have skins installed in car file well i will include extra skins incase you would like to swap them out , and swaping is again as easy as drag n drop.

So to sum it up , ELS is really easy yes there is 1 more file need for ELS cars which ... is the ELS file included but other than that its the same to install ELS and non so really there is zero need for modelers to make non els cars

YES.  seems simple. But  WHEEEEERE do I put the cars xml file for ELS?? in pack default? I did that- no go.

I keep trying and asking but don't work an no one responds to questions posted about ELS. Mine is very simple-where does the cars ELS/xml file go? I installed latest ELS, put the xml file for the car in pack default (yes it is the only car xml in there) since you can only have one active at a time as I understand instructions., an don't work...

also on the Location Display thingy- tried both of them an one appears in the wrong place on screen-the other don't display at all. post again asking wheres xml go an no answers . again.

Same for Rednecks! callout by kohlio, has an xml donno why, never seen that in a callout pkg., no instructions where it goes- an no ones answers.

so..three 3 things- location display, ELS, and Rednecks! callouts don't have proper documentation where files go, and no one has any answers here-

First, get rid of anything in that pack_default folder so you won't get confused - that includes that one POLICE.xml (again - so you won't get confused) since there may be ELS models that have the same .xml file name included (police).

If you're putting .xml files in there (pack_default folder) and they all have the same file name, then YES you ARE gonna have to change the file name to something else (same goes for any vehicle files that the .xml file came with).

YES, there ARE proper instructions as to where to put the Player Location Display (PLD) files at.  It literally tells you on the page before you even wanna download the file (look under "INSTALLATION").  There's NO .xml files with PLD.

For the Rednecks! callout by khorio, all you have to do is to copy and paste (or drag and drop if you perfer) everything except the Helpyall.txt into the main GTA V directory (Grand Theft Auto V folder).

I used to hate ELS. Now I love it. Anyway, almost every single file on this website comes with installation instructions, which work for literally just about everyone. If you don't understand the instructions then ask people in the comments. There's always YouTube tutorials aswell.

Now, onto the title of this - I agree with what @11john11 said

With ELS, all you really need to do is set the extras as the lights emissive texture and put the light dummy in, whereas with Non-ELS vehicles you have to follow a certain way of setting patterns, and doing lot's more complicated stuff, especially if you have lots of lighting equipment. I do agree with you though, there should be an equal amount of ELS and non-ELS, however it just takes too long, and many authors prefer using ELS since it's quicker.

ELS-yeah I got rid of everything in that pack_default folder and put in the xml file for the car I had put in. it was the only file in there named for the cars game name and but not in its own folder just a looswe xml file in pack_default. is that right? cause it didn't work.

PLD- PLD's looks easy, I dropped asi in game folder- followed instructions..don't appear. something in settings?

I made REDNECKS! work finally by right clicking on kohrio.xml and un-blocking. sheesh!!!, but IT works now.

A) Yes they are, and it's either user error or an ELS problem itself, not an issue with the model.

B) Almost all of my vehicles are ELS, never had issues that wasn't specific to ELS.  I have a shit ton of standalone ELS cars designated as my backup units.  The sizes of the cars make zero difference as to whether or not ELS works.

C)  There are PLENTY of NON-ELS cars out there - I should know, I have two text documents that link to all previous mods (including non ELS cars), and a text document that links to all cars I still need to install, most of which are non ELS.  Just because a majority of the recently released vehicles are ELS doesn't mean that's all there is.

D) ELS does have its fair share of problems, but it's also a game changer/enhancer.  ELS gives you the ability to do things with your lights and sirens that no other mod can.  Note: Siren wise, there is Siren Mastery.  Despite its issues, it is still arguably a must have mod.

99% of all files I've downloaded has download instructions. People need to read the readmes, or read the actual topic.  Far too many people just instantly download, throw it in, and expect it to work.

You're absolutely right - people do need to thoroughly read the readmes and/or the actual topic but they don't so that's why you'll continue to see questions that might have been answered if they would just read.

Almost all of the vehicles I have in my game that I wanna run in are ELS vehicles.  I used to hate ELS myself not because of how to use it but because of - well - (see your "C") but now I've not only embraced it but will most likely expect to see a lot more ELS vehicles - mainly because they're easy to use as replacements.  Take Captain14's car packs (LSPD, Sheriff, and FIB packs).  Every last model - with the exception of the Tahoe in the FBI2 slot) were replaced with ELS models.  Just replace, put the VCF file where it needs to go and that's all she wrote.

Speaking of Siren Mastery, I still to this day use it - even with the ELS models I have.

I keep SM installed as an emergency mod in case something fucks up with ELS.  I'd probably use SM more and disable ELS's sirens all together if I could utilize FBI tones.  The VCF completely disables all other siren tones.
