Still having lag

Featured Replies

I built a PC last autumn specifically for playing higher end games like GTA. GTA runs fine on it apart from a few frame pacing issues which I had to work around. However LSPDFR still lags with minimal plugins installed. I have Search Warrant, ALPR+, Traffic Policer, Police Radio, Code 3 Callouts and Assorted Callouts.

I5 6500

EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked

8GB RAM (this never reaches 100%)

150GB SSD

It's got to the point where I'm considering turning graphics options way down even though my PC can handle max settings at 60fps almost all the time. I just know LSPDFR is completely unoptimized and will run like shit on even the latest £2000 i7 build.

Has anyone had success turning down textures etc to improve LSPDFR performance, or by using Directx 10?

Looool LSPDFR is not unoptimized. It runs great on a "£2000 i7 build". I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 4GB, 32GB  RAM,  with a i7-4790K 4GHz processor. My game runs flawless and I do not receive any lag whatsoever (all my in-game graphics settings are ultra/maxed). I have all of those plugins you listed installed except Code 3 Callouts; though I've used it in the past without qualms. Its simply your own system. Turn down the settings.

I doubt it. What game version and RPH version are you using? I turned down my settings completely and its still laggy in chases. Only other thing I have installed is Realism Dispatch Enhanced but I've used LSPDFR without that in the past and still had issues.

It lags mostly in the city. In the countryside I normally get 60fps with microstutter but no FPS drops, which I can live with. But for some reason the city is just horrendous.

I promise you I have lag-free game play, even within the city. I am running the most up-to-date RPH, using the the latest GTA patch. I have never used RDE before.

Try resetting all your graphics settings to default. It should set everything to the optimal settings based on your system specs. I'm running an i5 6600k w/ an 8gb graphics card and 16gb of ram and the default settings look great and run smooth. I'll get the occasional lag in the city or if there are 10+ cop cars on the screen but the game runs great 90% of the time.

I think the only thing you can do is buying an i7. The game itself is CPU intensive. RPH and LSPDFR also need more horsepower.

I have the same problem every time. I'm using lot of plugins like every Albo's plugins and also like you, ALPR+ (this is the worse plugin for me when driving in the city). Those plugins are doing a lot of background work so...

I also have an i5 (3570k @ 4500mhz) and a GTX 1070. There is nothing you can really do :)

It's annoying because I never even get 100% CPU usage and yet it still lags and the FPS drops randomly. I understand the way GTA is designed all mods will have some performance impact but LSPDFR is really bad for this. (Possibly because it hasn't been updated in ages?) But I guess you're right it must be the CPU there's nothing else hardware wise that would limit it.

And yeah ALPR in the city is really bad. Which is a shame because its the best place to use it.

I've been kind of pushed towards trying out other mods which don't impact the game as much, like LSPD: Dangerous Individuals which is Scripthook based and runs decently. But you don't get the same immersion and the tools LSPDFR gives you.

Yes, it's definitely not the way LSPDFR is optimized.  Either your system is not capable of running the mod smoothly (possibly your processor is the bottle neck) or you have some other scripts/plugins running in the background.

I have no lag in the city or country side and most of my graphics are near max (with MSAA at x4).  I'm also running a very long list of plugins and callouts.  Even though my system is not the greatest, it is slightly better than yours in every respect.  So yes, it's either your system or you may be running something in the background without realizing it.

One of my older development machines runs on a GTX 670, i5 3570k and 16GB of DDR3. It can run (slower) development builds of LSPDFR and latest GTA V on High/Very High without dipping below 60fps too much.

If you are experiencing slowness with a better system, then it could be:

  • Your system (CPU or GPU) is overheating, and throttling as a result. Use a tool like Intel XTU or HwInfo to see what's going on.
  • You have RPH, Scripthook or other LSPDFR plugins that run like turd.
  • You have some sort of DirectX hook that runs like turd (streaming software, some crap overlay).
  • Your OS installation is covered in stuff that's slowing it down.
  • You have too many mods that have nothing to do with us installed (OpenIV/models/textures).

I did a log using CoreTemp and it showed all my cores running at 3299MHz for almost the entire session. My CPU can turbo to 3.6GHz but as I said when I play GTA there's rarely 100% CPU load so I think its working as it should on that front
