What did Rockstar do that is ruining modded cars?

Featured Replies

In my previous game, I had a crap ton of standalone police cars and police cars that overwrote the default.  Now, at least four of these cars don't work and crash the game, while some others work fine.  Is Rockstar really resorting to purposely having the game crash for mods?  Are they that desperate to kill off the modding community?  'Cause at this rate it's only a matter of time before NO mods work.

Frankly, I don't get why Rockstar isn't more tolerant of single player modders.  All we want is LSPDFR.  If it wasn't for LSPDFR, I would not sit through three separate long GTA V downloads.  I sat through it for modding, not the game itself.  Rockstar should be grateful that modding is helping to keep their game alive, not "lets screw over the entire modding community for kicks".

That's nothing what they're thinking. If your game is crashing and models aren't working it's because updates overwrite files. Simple. If your game is crashing, learn to install mods properly rather than blaming someone else

Rockstar is tolerant of single player mods, and in no way are they "resorting to purposely having the game crash for mods". they've even made statements saying they will do nothing to hinder sp mods. They are however not making any special changes to support mods, but that's not a big deal as it can be done anyway.

I think you edited some carvariation, vehicles.meta, or other files and now with the update it was overwritten. That might be it.

This is a new game install on a brand new computer.  All I did was place the files in the correct path, and try to start the game.  When the modded vehicle is removed, game works perfectly fine.

then i'll go back to what i said the first time. you are doing something wrong. there are thousands of lspdfr players and even more gta 5 modders in general, if rockstar fucked up mods I think we'd have a bigger uproar.

there are hundreds of reasons as to why you broke your game. sure, it could be very easy or very hard to find out what it is and fix, but i can 100% guarantee you that rockstar is not purposely breaking just your game

You're clearly not getting it.  I didn't say they broke all mods, I said they did something that broke certain ones.  Furthermore, I've been modding for a while now.  If I make a mistake I'll admit to it, but this was not a mistake.  This was a simple drag and drop of vehicle files to a location. No meta edit, no carvar edit.

I can trust you if you are sure you did everything corectly.

The game is adding more vehicles on each updates. This can break your modded cars because the game have a limited amount of vehicles it can handle.

You can use this : https://fr.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars to push the limit.

Note that it will not work if you really have failed somewhere during install :p

People blaming their improper installations and setup on Rockstar still? Things never change I see.

Think real clear for a second, in fact take a good long while to think.

Now, do you honestly think that if Rockstar purposely went out of their way to hinder mods that this entire site wouldn't blow up with threads and statements that Rockstar has done something to prevent modding?
